How do you find out what Co-Op Commanders your friend has?

I want to gift my friend any coop commanders they do not already own, but obviously do not want to buy any they already have.

How do I find out what coop commanders they have already purchased so I can give them a nice birthday surprise.

Thanks

That’s a great question.

The only way I know of for sure is to just ask them who they have and who they don’t.

Aside from that, you could try this method, if you’re trying to be discreet about it, but it may not be 100% accurate (I’ll explain why after):

Join a party with your friend in-game. Ask them to slowly select each commander, so that you “can see what level every commander is at” (you can see your ally’s commander level on the commander selection screen, when in a party together, on the commander portraits themselves). If the commander is past level 5, they already own them. If the commander is level 5 or under, they may own them or they may not. Not a perfect method, but more discreet than asking outright.

I would honestly just ask outright, though. Just strike up a conversation, something like:

(This is you speaking to your friend)

“Okay, so, I’m thinking about buying another commander / leveling another commander, but Idk who to choose… Here are all the commanders I currently own: (then you list your commanders here)”

Then, you ask:

“What commanders do you own?”

This will make it seem like a normal conversation and, hopefully, they shouldn’t suspect a thing

Good luck! :+1:t2:

Edit:

Oh! Duh! You can also check their co-op achievements. This can definitely help you figure out what commanders someone has, but it won’t be 100% effective for every commander. If you want, you can link me their profile—either here on the SC2 forums / website, or in-game—and I will help you figure out what we can decipher for certain. :hugs:

Thanks very much for your help.

You would think that Blizzard would make it much easier to spend money on their co-op commanders at their online shop than currently able.

No prob. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I agree; especially when it comes to gifting things to your family or friends and making sure that it’s something they don’t already own, or guaranteeing that they can exchange it for something else, or even just refund you.

Well I tried looking at their achievements, and in game under coop they have nothing achieved, as if the in game achievements are not even working.

They are over ascension level 100 and even Raynor has nothing listed as completed, so this isn’t working at the moment for some reason, or maybe you can only view it when they are online?

Thanks again

Hmm… I can’t say why the achievements may not be displaying properly.

Might have to stick with that discreet conversational method I outlined lol.

Best of luck!

Ok

Blizzard does help by warning you when you try to gift a commander if your friend already owns it.

So at least that helps.
