How do I improve?

I have been hardstuck. For five years. It’s absolutely crushing to play over 6500 1v1’s at the same level and never improve. I play faster now, but it still doesn’t matter. I’m probably worse at the game now than I was in 2015. Any good ways to get better?

Find a practice partner for the race that is giving you trouble. Identify what kills you more than anything else and get them to do it over and over until you can deal with it. Rinse and repeat for other issues.

This is aside from obvious issues in macro that can be dealt with by analysing replay.

Analyze replay, try to watch what you can improve. Watch lot of pro game and try to reproduce their BO.

I grind master 1 on EUW without training partner as a Terran. I just spam lot of game, i watch replay and try to identify at what timing i lose the game and why. You should identify when you stop making scv and why, when you stop produce army and why and try to resolve this. Same for supply block.

Post replays here so people with more xp than u can also provide criticism and advice. Not everyone is a jerk!

First thing first, calm your self down.

I used to play like a rabid rabbit. Try-harding at every corner I can, but, I then realize, I’m not good enough to try-hard.

So, I just calm down, and remind my self, hey, this is a game, if I lose, I lose, if I win, I win. Suddenly, I was more calm hitting that ranked button and was able to keep my calm on to the game.

This does have a side-effect. While my apm increased, it’s actually my macro that got better, my micro got worse by a lot. Thankfully, in diamond 3, three rocks still beats a paper, so, macro is still my top priority.

Definitely keep your calm.

Oh and know a bit about your match-up.
In my case as a Protoss, if my Terran opponent open widow mines, I know that they are going to my nat or base in around 4 minutes, so, even without scouting, I can prepare before hand.

If you use the code function you can simply paste the link in as “code” like so:

more GG more SKILLS!

Play a lot.

People who play all day every day tend to get quite good. Most of us can’t afford to do that.

Who are you and what did you do to our lovely friend thyphoon?

The normal thyphoon would say something like “whenever yore stuck agains a certain race, go to bnet forums and open up threads about it, until blizz listens to you and nerf it”. So dont fool me. Have you kidnapped the real thyphoon and now are using his acc?

Okay, done. Here is a ZvT that I played that I got annihilated in.

I am the player ‘Rytting’

I’ll add my thoughts here, you’re slightly higher MMR than me, but I should have some decent things to say, and ZvT is my best matchup. I’ll be nitpicky if that’s okay?

Right off the bat: 16 hatch is the new meta opening, not 17. Aside from that your opening is clean enough, not pulling off the mineral line to build gas or pool. However you made a minor mistake of pulling one of your drones off the mineral line to saturate the gas. Don’t bother, getting the fastest possible speed isn’t important, you need minerals more at this stage in the game for drones, queens and hatcheries. So you were sitting at 15/16 for a moment where you didn’t need to.

14 Overlord
16 Hatch
16 drone to mineral line
18 drone to gas
17 drone to pool
Next 3 drones rallied to gas.

That’s your standard opener for every matchup.

At around 2:15 you had 4 idle larva, I get you were saving for the third hatch as reapers commonly block it, but again these small things do compound later into the game, 32 hatch is common for that reason, as it minimises the amount of idle larva you have. This doesn’t get resolved for nearly a minute, and in fact gets worse for a short amount of time.

I haven’t watched the whole game yet, and am commenting on it as I see it, but I don’t like the lair that early. Ideally you want to pull 2 drones off gas after you start ling speed (you get overlord speed too which is fine), and then put back on when ling speed is done. Again, minerals are way more important at this stage of the game than gas. I can guess that lair is gonna get not much done for a significant amount of time.

At 4:30 we’re still very undersaturated, you should have around at least 8 drones on that third mineral line by this point. The Terran is only slightly behind us in workers, and has a better economy than you, which shouldn’t happen at this stage of the game.

The hellions surprise you in the third, you want your first 6 overlords to go 1) to the opponent and then the rest sit a few screens outside of your bases so you can see Hellion rotations. This also works in ZvZ and ZvP for Ling/Bane and Adept movements. This lack of vision meant your queens weren’t far forward enough to bat the Hellions away.

At 5:21 we’re now going up to 3 gas with a single drone on our third. I’d usually have that third oversaturated by this point. The gas timing is good, but you don’t have enough drones to support it. For some reason you’re also making a bunch of Zerglings. If you had map vision you’d have known this was completely unnecessary and could have been more drones. You already had enough queen/ling to repel Hellions if you had good vision/creep.

Something PiG mentioned about BC harass, if it surprised you, build like 8 spores outside of the BC’s vision whilst pulling your queens. They build very very quickly.

You dealt with the BC nicely, but you pulled drones to fight Hellions. NEVER do this. It’s like pulling drones to deal with Banelings. Just run your drones away and let the Queens deal with it whilst making some extra lings. After that we’re now down to 28 drones vs 46 SCV’s with a Terran just finishing up his Third CC. The game is already pretty much over from here, but I’ll continue to have a look.

Overall: Build more drones, build more queens, spread more creep and have more vision on your side of the map.

And don’t fight hellions with drones.

If I find anything else that is significant I’ll post another reply. I hope this gives you an idea of what needs to improve.

This you lost half your drones, and I am curious maybe a zerg can chime in is the lair to early? maybe concentrate on droning third and getting queens for defense.

It’s far too early. As I said in my post, he had too much gas too early that wouldn’t have gotten any value.

Did you know the BC was coming?

When I rush BC opponent has spore in every base and like 7 queens total with 4-5 as a roaming group
