How do I deal with Lurkers?

im a Protos player diamond 2 in europe and encounter many problems in my PvZ matchups. Besides getting chessed or have a ground army facing Winfestors GGlords , I loose to lurkers. Besides all my bad decesion making because im beeing dump or dont know how to handle that situation . Could any one give me some advices or should I alt+QQ as soon as I see lurkers?

A standard chargelot archon immortal army work very well against Lurkers, but the important thing is how you engage them. You need to fight them from multiple angles, and you need to constantly force them to burrow/unburrow and pick fights outside of your space in the open. If you don’t see it coming and let Lurkers burrow on top of your nat, you’re pretty much dead unless you can afford a big warp-in round from your 3rd to engage from multiple angles.

Get double robo,mass inmos until you have 7-8 of them, make archons and some HT for storms,dump you minerals in zealots and zealot runbys. Once you have a healthy core of inmo-archon,you can walk over the lurkers as long as you have detection.Other thing you can do, is building disruptors, 2 shots kill a unit, so if you manage to hit two or three non splitted lurkers you can destroy them on a few hits.

And one thing,always try to fight on open fields,not in narrow paths where the lurkers can hit you at full force.If z is sieging on a good spot, then you need disruptors probably, or some multi sided attack.

Lurkers are quite good right now vs AIC.
I’ve actually completely changed my playstyle to now go air every game.

If you are ground, the way to approach them is as follows:
First you need very stable detection. Oracles I think perform better than observers vs lurker.
Secondly do not engage up front unless you have disruptors or air units (phoenix can pick them up, carrier and tempests can pelt them, disruptors can punish them but you need a lot of disruptors). You want to try and surround lurkers and come at multiple angles. Don’t go up ramps I to disruptors.
Third you need immortals and have to tell them to focus fire. Archons are awful vs disruptors.

Finally many zergs just f2 everything so it always helps to draw their attention with a run by of zealots somewhere on the map and then try to catch the lurkers when they unsiege.

But yeah they are quite strong right now. I personally changed my whole pvz to now just play skytoss after my initial harass.

Don’t lose the initiative.

Lurker build is quite passive and defensive.
If you managed to have a good early game you can splitpush bases really efficiently since balancing the split up with a lurker army on 3 different spots properly is quite difficult.

Try to use disruptors or templar, depending if he has vipers or not.
Try to not move all your templar but single them out against lurkers.
Use templar mainly for the storm, only make them to archons if you really have to.

You can try to go if I remember correctly, 6 carriers and a mothership to make it a little bit harder for the zerg to take face on fights.

If he sieges you with lurkers, most of the time those attacks, beside some small ling runbys, are most of the time full committed to protect the lurkers, so if you see that he sieges too closely to you and you probably can’t hold it anyway, don’t be afraid to just go across the map on the outer expansions or the natural to deal some damage.

What do you mean with not loosing the initiative I he yeetet for quite some times 1 | 0 Hydras into me while I was getting 2|2 and dint find to many chance to counter . Only could afford making 4 counter harasment. With 2 zealots runbys at his third stalkers at his 5 and dts once more at his third. At the end game I lost to his 2|1 ground army and un upgrade GGlords to my 3|3|1 ground army and my 2|0|1 Carriers?

This may be an unothrordox way to handle them but why not get collusus. They help shread hydras and they have more than enough range to kill lurkers. Just saying.

I would go with an archon, chargelot, collusus army or if more airsupport is needed archon, stalker, collusus army. I you can afford voids in either of these compositions all the better to help with air support if needed of course.

If you really want to style like most protoss players do then go collusus, immorotal, archon, void… Protoss players should never lose to lurkers unless they are out right out played.

I had collusus but still with superiror upgrades and on a deffensiv position with 3 skill bateries . I dint knew what did I do wrong thats why I came and asked for better player in the forum.

Colossus has 9 range, Lurkers have 10 range, after upgrades. If he’s sieging with Lurker Colossus is not an effective answer.

as I stated earlier, against lurkers, it’s less about army comp (other than something extreme like mass Stalkers), and more about how you engage. If you funnel into the Lurker, you will get obliterated even if you have the hard counter, which is immortal, because he is doing too much splash to you.

Initiative means you know where he is, and you force fights outside of your base and choke points, where Lurkers shine.

Being up in macro is actually fantastic, but you can also easily throw that advantage away if you pick a very poor engagement, or fail to notice a lurker push until it is at your door.

I do not now how you are losing with collusus. especially if you have immortals archons mixed in. This is probably one of the best compositions that you can have maybe have some zeals/stalkers mixed in…

Maybe a higher ranked toss player than I have a better aproach.

Just a-move them AND don’t forget to micro your observer so it doesn’t die. Or just send purification nova on where they are. Fairly simple and straight forward, even for a protoss.
