if you’re going to write “build a raven” dont even respond you’re useless.
i think a better question is “how do i scout dark templar” again if your response is look for dark shrine dont respond.
obviously if i know its coming its easy to defend, but if i dont know i straight up lose to it, i see it maybe once in every 10 games. and obviously they usually proxy it in the corner.
is there anything i can look for in the main base? like maybe a twilight but not allot of gateways? or any other signs of dts?
i rarely encounter it but when i do i feel like it has everything to do with what my orbital energy was at when i saw them and all skill goes out the window. i never say gg when i lose to it. because gg means good game, there is nothing good about games where prottoss players use dark templar because it either works and i lose, or it doesnt and they lose
If you’re talking about a 1-base rush (which itself is a tell), look for fully-saturated double gas but an apparent lack of gas-heavy units (like Sentries). As for blind-defending it, a Bunker and a Missile Turret are usually enough - just put your Missile Turret a small distance behind the Bunker so it doesn’t get sniped.
In the mid-game it’s a good idea to put up a Missile Turret here anyway to catch Observers.

i never see one base, i think actually blindly putting down missle turrets could be a good idea if i see the twilight council, maybe just one near my ramp because 250 is a big investment in that part of the game, also i would have to take an early ebay for it to protect me
i should probably look up a dt build so i know what it looks like and the timing.
Usually the one at the front of the natural is enough, and maybe one in each mineral line if you’re worried about drops or Oracles. Just don’t go overboard otherwise you’ll be cutting into unit production and expansion times.
You should build a Bunker at the front of the natural anyway to help protect against Stalker pokes.

omg your advice is actually good, the response i was expecting was “easy build detectors” or “easy just use scan”
and i mean technically that was what you said but it was more in depth.
Well, you need some kind of detection to fight Dark Templars regardless.
Thanks for the compliment, even though I’m a lower rank than you!
As for the no gg, I just hope you dont do cloak banshees or ghost rushes,or any sort of proxy cheese all in, becasue its essentialy the same thing on terran side…
For someone with so many posts of complaining, Iam kinda surprised to find something like this of you. Much better
Iam not 100% sure when the timing is, but on 2base its pretty similar to the old Archon drop, which will hit (with a prism) around 5:30. Without prism (proxy gate), you will face them around 5:10 at your natural. But we are talking about perfect execution, so add 5-10s starting at low master to 4900MMR. (Stargate included, without I guess 30-35s faster.)
Because of the Medivac which will hit roughly around 4:30 with WM you shouldnt see a build without a robo. So in these rare cases it will be more likely Blink. Just count the Stalker here.
So how do you scout it?
- To hit the timing he will need 4x Gas, with Gas 3 and 4 nearly at the same time 3:35 and with 3 worker each. Which means: You will see only ±14probes(natural) at the time, the Gas is finished. If you saw it to late, then you have to count the Gas in Gyser 3&4. How? Scan, or reaper suicide, if he still lives. At the same time you are able to count his gas units. Around 4 Stalker or 1-2Sentrys = most likely no DT.
If you didnt saw any tech beside Stargate until 4:00 you have to prepare against DT/Proxy Robo. No Protoss beside Rotti with mass phoenix style will do such a stuff. BUT then… you will see the Stargate production. But to be sure check the 3rd and punish him, for his greed. Maybe the Raven opening with aggression potential will do more sense now once you consider the defensive timings.
2. If the first reaper scout doesn’t see a tech, then you should scout proxy asap and get a turret into each base very soon. It can mean everything but the bigest danger is proxy Oracle now.
Hope it will help you a little bit. Overall count the gas, look at his units consider the timing. Like always in the game
If there are questions left I will answer them in around 7h. And then Im able to double check the timings, because currently Iam not at home.

The spacing of my post doenst make any sense, currently I have just my smartphone. Kinda stupid.
dont most prottoss builds require 4 gas? when i scout what i notice is that dts looks very similar stalker blink, which is a very popular build more often than dts.(twilight, robo)
if there is a blink opener that is the worst time to invest in detection because i need units right then and there so i dont die.
do stalkers also require 4 gas?
this is the important question ^
Mass battlecruisers beat dark templar

i think this falls into the useless category of responses i talked about.

What responses? I just read the title
while technically you are not wrong battlecruisers do infact beat dts because dts cannot shoot up, i do not feel like this is helpfull.

The gas timing is the point. You dont need such an early gas 3&4 to play blink, or let me say it like this. If you get gas 3&4 to early with a blink build, then you wont play it effective enough… Later 3rd or to less Stalker. So the gas timing should be 24s later. Gas counting
Also yes 4 gas, just later.
i havent considered actually looking at the replay so i know the timing and what their base looks like, should probably do that
Would be the best. Just the builds are pretty similiar. Hidden Dt shrine will be the problem. But you can count the Stalker. He will get pretty fast 4 of them and then you will know whats going on.
i think i get there pretty early i should be able to notice if there are more gases. i will try it on ladder right now i lose 95% of the time vs dts
