How did Kerrigan still human-minded after the infestation

I can’t sleep well right now after playing SC2 because i am very curious. We’re all know that Sarah Kerrigan was captured and infested by the swarm, but how can she remains the human-minded and…not turning into some crazy zerg creatures like the normal humans that was infested.

Mind powers. Also this thread belongs in the campaign section.

Thanks, i will note that

It was overmind’s plan that he want Kerrigan to have free will so that she can lead the swarm to rebel against Amon, as he have foreseen the doomed future of the zerg race. It is because overmind don’t have free will, he cannot disobey the directives given to him by the Xel’naga.

All he needed was a very thirsty Jimmy.

Kerrigan isn’t your run of the mill Infested Terran, she was designed specifically to be a one of a kind creature “the greatest of my servants.” according to the overmind. Due to her psionic potential, she was intended to be his ultimate weapon and command the swarm to final victory over the Protoss. Because of this the Overmind made great pains to ensure that her “greatness of spirt.” remained intact during infestation.

Later a buch of stuff involving a shadow god got retconed in.

i wonder if the Overmind back in those days was already planning that Kerrigan would overtake the swarm, iirc he was stating that he himself was trapped in a plan greater than himself and was seeking a way out to free the zerg from that prime directive, that is the reason why the original QoB was independant

The retcons say yes, that was the primary reason for him leaving her with so much independence.

My personal headcanon is that Kerrigan was Plan B, and that Plan A was for the Overmind to assimilate the protoss and make the Swarm so powerful that he could simply fight Amon directly, or otherwise challenge his goals.

The whole reason the Overmind wanted her was because of her psionic capabilities and their potential to grow. Psionic abilities are psychic abilities, psychic abilities come from the mind.

The Overmind infested her body but left her mind MOSTLY intact. She just gained access to the Zerg hivemind and probably had some loyalty to the Overmind wired into her, but as we plainly see in SC1’s campaign that doesn’t make her loyal to Zasz or the other Cerebrates and she does still order around the player controlled Cerebrate so it looks like the Overmind is the ONLY being she was wired to be loyal to.

Which is why she wanted the new Overmind in Brood War killed so it couldn’t take control of her again.
