How best to balance all the races

Play all the races… that’s it. Play more than just the race you picked when you knew basically nothing about the game. Unless you are top of GM the reason why you are losing has nothing to do with balance.

This game is ridiculously balance compared to pretty much every other game on the market. I mean we are fighting over single digit % differences in win rates ffs.

For context I am plat in toss which I main, gold zerg and gold terran. I’m totally confident that if I spent a month with either of my two off races I could get them equal to my main. Why? Because this game is so well balanced that the limiting factors of my play have nothing to do with what race I’m using.

Careful. There are some forum members that absolutely refuse to take responsibility for their losses. They don’t not take kindly to the truth and instead insist that the only way that any other race could beat them, ever, is because that other race is dirty and imba. This is, of course, delusional. The game is balanced.

That’s the main reason why threads about game’s balance are often so rude

Though generally i agree with the OP, i want to point-out that as a matter of fact it is not possible for a normal player to be equally skilled in all races. Even inside a given race one is not equally skilled in all 3 MU.
However, the differences hardly can be more than one or two Leagues (300-500MMR).

It baffles me that people spend more time posting than playing. What is the point of just living on a forum for a game you’ve played less than 50 games of?!

And I’ll absolutely admit that I use to have my bias’ against zerg and terran. It was only after I started playing them on ladder that I came to realize what I thought was “broken” was just gaps in my knowledge of how the game worked.

lol it’s common with the forums here. I can imagine even the two GMs or so they claim, one Protoss and one Zerg, the latter probably mostly makes 1 game or few a week, then comes to cry with a new thread against Terran in some trollish way where he can get 300 posts and reply with 100 posts. Ratio of games to posts 3 : 100

You are right that it is basically impossible to be equally skilled at every race. By that I mean that I could get to plat with both the other races if I spent time at it and the races balance plays virtually no factor in my ability to do so.

If I got within 300-500MMR of my toss MMR with zerg and terran I’d consider myself equally skilled because lets be honest here… that 500mmr swing is down to me f#*king up timings and build orders or not seeing the doom drop/nydus/prysm on my mini map.

I agree 120% with your post, mine, was just a extention. Playing the other races also has great benefits to one’s main race. The benefit of playing Terran/Zerg for a Protoss is that one can have a direct information/insight (from within) of their vulnerabilities.
Sure, that is equally true for all Races.

Yes! That is the hard truth so many need to hear! The whole reason I started playing zerg and terran was because I couldn’t figure out how to beat BC rushes (which I still struggle with) and how to stop from dying 10 min into the game when a load of hydras and roaches show up at my front door.

The best way to learn how to beat a race is to play it. I never knew how much of a pain in the a** it is to creep spread and when I see a player who is doing a good job at it they are likely sacrificing some other area of their game to do so (at least at my level). So now If I see really good creep I start to scout like a mofo to see if this joker is sitting on a quick 3 base with nothing but 4 queens as his army or some sh*t.

This is a lot of why pros are m/gm with other races

Even the top Pros constantly complain about balance in their interviews. Plebs like us complain because we don’t have the micro or macro to defend against powerful all-ins or beat late game death balls, while the Pros may genuinely struggle against things which are OP at their level and limit their choice of play.
So I have nothing against complaining, as long as it’s civil and grounded in some facts, instead of the GET AIDS AND DIE YOU PIECE OF TRASH, BLIZZ DELETE PROTOSS ALREADY ARGHHH BLEAAHHH GRRHHH posts which we keep getting. I sometime read them (but never comment on) for sheer enjoyment at their stupidity.
Sadly, the game can never be truly balanced, since we have barely scratched the strategic depth of what is theoretically possible, and even without patches the meta is constantly shifting as new strategies are developed and then countered. There will always be an arms race, and there will always be legitimate stuff to complain about at all levels of play. Plus a lot of nonsense from self entitled experts, but that’s life for you.

It would be nice if sc2 would have regular balance updates and new mechanics/units. People would not focus on balance as much but more on the new content and how it changes the game. I remember the sheer joy learning the game and not knowing what happened. Feeling like im winning losing and going wtf just happenend. Its the same games over and over change would be great for us

Am i certified to balance whine?
Unless zerg messes up and clumps all infestors its impossible to win a fight lategame tvz, you rely on your opp messing up thats bs

I think it’s possible to be equal good and bad depends to be on every race since
i got every race into D2 aswell as random with just 100MMR difference

But that doesn’t mean anything about balance
mostly u stuck because of mistakes rather than balance

Certification revoked: see prior comments about how bad you probably are and how many mistakes you are making.

Rated T for Troll.

I would strongly suggest (for the T-rated guy), to follow and try to understand all episodes (a hundred) of Day9.
