How about a new extension rather than SCIII?

Hi everyone,

have you considered adding an extension rather than creating a new game ?
I think Blizzard could add a new chapter with new story (let’s call it a new season).

Then they can update graphics library, remove some units, add some etc…
The new campaign should be totally new and come with specific skins/annoucers that are unlocked with campaign achievements and XPs…
Users can then pay for Access to campaign or directly buy campaign skins.

Other enhancements would be free for everyone.

You can add a battle royals str mode maybe, I am not goind to specify it here but I am sure Blizzard can think of something interesting (otherwise ask the community for help).

So, any thoughs ?

I don’t understand what you mean by this? Are you aware of FFA’s?

The game is old enough that any radically game expanding content should be put in a new game entirely. StarCraft 2’s engine wasn’t exactly the most optimized even when it came out, and now its close to a decade old. That’s a pretty rough chassis to be adding new features onto.

Yes, I know FFA. And this something close to it I am thinking about but with a big map, small super gold minerals fields (and other very fast development features, enhanced build times), movable buildings and short cuts to move the base to a new place or any other means to get to a new place. The map should be virtually huge as a collections of smaller maps. Periodically each small maps will collapse in one place and the surviving player will play in the resulting place/ maps with few of the survivals and so one, until we end up with a 1v1 map and fully developed army ready to fight… Something like this…

Ok I understand. However, I think that if Blizzard has respected a clean design on his motor, he can replace some parts (such as graphic rendering library) without throwing everything.

They are many reasons for my proposal:

  1. Smaller cost investment
  2. Everything that works in the game will continue to work and no huge testing is required
  3. No need for pro gamers to learn everything from the start
  4. Smaller delay to have this achieved
