I always get strung up on how I want to do a play through with these early evolutions!
Raptor/Splitter strains: I do the health upgrade while Banelings have regenerative acid to cause a little extra damage and keep Zerglings alive longer but won’t jump in immediately and won’t miss out on slightly delayed healing plus extra from the minis.
-Raptorlings are a bit overpowered, can clear out most of early/mid levels with just a lot of them and some anti air support.
Swarmlings/Hunterlings: nice not having to much time on base defense. Speed trait to get them surrounding enemies and structures so fast. Jumping Banelings to finish off your surrounded foes, any trait is good.
-adds a little more difficulty to your play through. Fun to just have the instant numbers or want to occasionally do a Baneling rush and spend a little less with Zerglings costing 17 minerals each instead of 25.
