To be fair, Kerrigan was pretty cool in brood war. It was in sc2 that they decided that Raynor should pine after her and that she shouldn’t be so evil and she was really a last ditch attempt by the now sympathetic overmind to stop amon.

I don’t think anyone ever questioned that lol, the overmind and his cerebrates were way better than the garbo female swarm of sc2.

Brood War Kerrigan was cool, but never so much as any of the Cerebrates, much less the Overmind.
The Overmind’s speech was biblical, and you cannot beat that kind of drama.
Kerrigan was another example of “go woke, go broke”.

Really? Did Starcraft 2 not do well due to a backlash against Kerrigan being featured prominently?
While I agree that Kerrigan in SC2 isn’t as cool as the Overmind from SC1, I submit that’s because the entire story of SC1 is superior to SC2. It can’t be blamed on Kerrigan, who’s a fictional character and thus PART of the story, and not in control of it.

Hard to deny that the swarm was cool, then it went woke, and at the same time the story became trash lol.
That being said I agree, there’s many other flaws at hand besides turning the game into Kerrigan 2, which is a mistake that started with BW.
I honestly think Kerrigan and Raynor were the worst characters in SC1.
Like literally every other protagonist was better, yet those were the characters they chose to write the game about.

i just came back to SC2 about 2 weeks ago after a 2ish year break (i played SC2 a few games in that span, but i think we can both agree that 10 ladder games per 3-6 month cycle is not enough to keep you in the game)

Nobody blames Kerrigan,eceryone blames Metzenhis writing got really bad and cheesy,too much wow turned him into a bad writer.

Yeah I dont know who’s responsible for it but wow has had far too much influence on sc2. When they started talking about the void I just gave up on being frustrated and started laughing at the laziness and lack of creativity. Like seriously lol does it have voidwalkers and fel hounds in it too?
And why dont we just stop pretending the hybrid are unique or interesting and replace them with the infernals that they totally arent an exact copy of.
The writing of sc2 is garbage in pretty much all areas. They got almost nothing right. Even their new ideas are trash. Like the main conflict of the story is that amon wants to stop the xel nagas infinite cycle, and our heroes are fighting for the chance to one day be absorbed by the xel naga. And then at the end Kerrigan becomes… A new xel naga? And the others are all dead? So amon won? Unless there will be more Xel Naga eventually?
They dont even make sense as a race lmfao. They seed life and nurture races so that eventually a race with purity of form will develop and a race with purity of essence develops and then they merge to form the next ‘generation’ of xel naga… Ok so um what happens to the previous generation? Like if amon hadnt killed them would they just sleep forever lol gotta make room for the next generation right? It makes no sense xD like how would this race function with no reproduction and seemingly infinite lifespans. And um… What is their motivation xD Nothing like a pile of unsolved mysteries and plot holes to drive your story forward as the primary source of conflict lol.
