Because they have gas problems. No I’m not always this clever but I can deliver occasionally.
Seriously, Han and Horner P2 is way out of tune. Even with the gas reduction, this prestige is massively gas-starved. HH has a fairly-gas intensive set IMO, between strike platforms, upgrades, and galleon hangers. But it’s balanced, in the other iterations (meaning I’m spending gas and minerals at roughly relative rates). But wing commander is totally skewed. With only 2 galleons I literally can’t spend my minerals, and I’m still waiting on gas to call down more ships. Each time I’ve played I end the game with thousands of minerals and no gas.
Anyone else experience this?

8/10, I got a good chuckle out of the opener.

im just leveling this prestige all the way as p2.
What helps alot are obviously the calldowns, but for the specific gameplay style of p2 youll want lvl 11 or an ally that heals your units. Before that build some scvs of the minerals that have no use anyways.
What also helps are building pure hellions. And getting their tarbomb upgrade (as soon as you have the level) and also their attackspeed on death upgrade. Helps with too much minerals and slows ground to a degree, that your bcs have time to clear things like zerglings etc.
Also i feel like the tech requirements should go away because the ramp up is really crippled. And in general, the prestige really doesnt give anything to the gamestyle. Other than being able to mass one of the 3 air units… Theres literally no added bonus, that makes them stronger like almost every other prestige has in a uniq way.
Really sad about the H&H prestiges

So I hate to be Mr. “git gud”, but…
Assuming you spend 0 minerals on anything but Han units, no depots no Horner units, no nothing, then it takes
- 4 Galleons on reapers to spend ALL minerals
- 3 Galleons on widow mines to spend ALL minerals
- 2 Galleons on hellion/hellbat to spend ALL minerals
So realistically it is possible to spend all your minerals with 2 galleons even with reapers, because you will be spending minerals on depots, upgrades, and Horner units. If you want to burn minerals, you can always try using hellion/hellbat, especially since reapers are rather critical mass reliant.

I’ve been missing minerals tbh. I like to start aggressively out of the gate. Before the “bug fix” it was pretty easy to clear the last 4 void thrashers in the center of void thrashing right after destroying the first one
For a speedy void thrashing as of now, use strike fighters or carriers to support your first star ships while keeping only a minimal (but not nonexistent) Han presence until saturated since you won’t be able to cheap merc spam
You can use air strikes to spot for the big call downs - Nuke and bombard hybrid positions
Viking bc hellion Hellbat, or wraith kite into widow mine, work well. Carriers as a defensive screen if against light air spam
With the Gas reduction Wraiths/Vikings are close to Mineral:Gas neutral
The only things that give you extra minerals are
BCs
Ravens
Upgrades
Strike platforms
(And 2 Galleons should be enough to build that… it could be you just aren’t losing units fast enough)

I agree to some extent that dropping the gas cost a little more would help make this prestige work better. I find p1 with mass reapers to be quicker and work more effectively than mass horner units. I still find flying around a flotilla of bc’s to be fun enough to justify the prestige. After all the game is supposed to be fun.
That said, sticking with just BC’s and only adding upgraded wraiths late game helps with gas by minimizing upgrades. Eventually, I end up waiting on the cool-down and not the gas. I also rush quad gas when possible and leave widow mines and turrets as defense. That frees up mines to aggro amon’s ground.

For P0 there are two main paths to militarize quickly and P1 buffs the one tremendously
P2 in the beginning won’t have as much of a difference because of the cost of star ships and upgrades. With P0 one could already drop upgraded Vikings at 5 minutes, and P2 is only slightly faster
So underwhelming HH awaits next balance.
I’ll have to try it again. I really like P1, and it’s possible that going to P2 was such a shift that I didn’t play it correctly or like it as much as I could.
In my last game with P2, I was on OB and I went with wraiths -> bc’s and hellbats. The hellbats just weren’t coming out fast enough. Especially on OB, I really hate the feeling of waiting on resources. I want my army to ramp up asap, and any time I’m waiting for gas makes me feel like I’m falling behind.
I support a bit more gas reduction idea. It really needs it.
I don’t have this trouble so I think you’ve got something wrong here, be it your build, your perception, or both. Try tweaking timings and order, and generally nailing a smooth chain of activity. Also understand that even with P2 you’re probably not supposed to have all ship types on cooldown permanently; just do what you can.
I wasn’t even close to using all of my cooldowns! I felt like I didn’t even need the cooldown reduction, truth be told. I’m doing another game, and if it turns out the same i’ll post a replay and y’all can tell me how bad I am.
It would be nice if Salvage feature is further expanded (in general actually (including Vanilla)).
In prestige 2 case, I was thinking Salvage could give +10% or +20% (5% or 10% to allies) of gas cost equal to that of mineral costs of their units.
I was also thinking to enable Salvage to yield extra resources from enemy buildings that can be collected by everyone (same 20% or 40% rate).
I know Salvage is meant for resource compensation but as itself I don’t know if it very useful and it is certainly not useful for commanders that do not use swarmy compositions.
Like Unity Barrier Salvage isn’t a very effective global passive.
Playing last night it was much better. I don’t even know what I did differently, but minerals and gas were matching up much better than the previous games. It’s possible I lagged on saturating gas, I guess?

I always saturate gas immediately.
Have tested moving some to minerals but it doesn’t gain much time on the first starships. Except for battlecruiser (or raven) they aren’t that useful without an upgrade
That early gas, is gas in the bank for all sorts of things
In fact, what P2 needs is mineral cost reduction back
Agreed mineral cost down sounds like a good idea and maybe rearrange the mastery sets so that the first two aren’t so suboptimal for a horner heavy build. Nothing quite so insulting as having 10 minerals pop out if I lose a Battlecruiser.
I’m leveling H&H P2.
As far as I can tell. The only composition I’m trying that’s working in brutal is full BC for the mid-late game.
Last game (lvl 6)
I try to get my gas income asap, so by minute 9 I was able to get my first BC. Prior to that I built a galleon, reapers and a raven for my starter army.
After that it’s just a matter of waiting for your gas to keep calling BC. When they are on CD, I give my ally a bunch of ravens so they get detection and extra damage.
I wanna try a wraith build for offense missions but I’m not sure if that build is gonna work, the wraiths are squishy and Amon always has detection
So far, I think the prestige works fine, but if the intention was getting Horner units more quickly then maybe yes, it needs a higher Gas reduction.
You should be able to get BC by 6 minutes iirc; don’t recall much about HH prestige leveling at the moment except that it was pretty fun
I’ll review replays, talents, to see if there are any insights. I leveled before the nerf
Void Thrashing is the most reliable farm unless you can be carried by a Karax in cradle, etc
It’s quick, and because of that it’s good to practice builds and timings
