I do not mean the zergling rush as that is too cliche. I mean as cheesy and unexpected and as annoying as Florencio’s style of Cannon Rushing and the lesser known method of Nexus Rushing(recalling Zealots and Probes after placing a Nexus inside the opponents base).
Like what are some Medically Insane Zerg strategies that we could come up with.
Spinecrawler Queen all-in
This is inspired by the “Greatest Epic Zerg Strategy” video.
I have been developing a build involving sending 3 queens to the edge of someone’s base via Overlords along with zerglings, roaches, and drones.
The drones will become spine crawlers, and when they are ready, the overlords/queens and will come over to the center of the base and provide the creep needed to place 4-6 spine crawlers in the heart of their technology and mineral operations.
The current build is rough. My goal is to garner an effective attack force before 5 minutes.
A run up is to the send a nydus in to strengthen a push, but using nydus as the primary method of infiltration is quite fragile in comparison to overlord drops. And it informs the opposing team that something is afoot.
Natural Steal
Build a Hatchery in the natural of the opponent and create a bunch of spine crawlers containing them. Like the trash zerg you are, follow up with zerglings and whatnot.
My fellow swarm, aid me in out cheesing the Protoss
“in other forms than zergling rushes”
Or perhaps we are so cheesy in general that it has become normalized
There’s PiG’s Sex Panther build which is zvz, where you get a proxy hatch and build spines and queens from there with lings from main, and then walk the spines over into the opponent’s natural and root them there
Neuro has a variation that he uses against all three races.
Just building in the opponent’s base with overlord drop seems like something that will get increasingly unlikely as you go up in the ladder. Except for situations where you are already massively ahead and are just trolling.
Now that you mention Florencio, I believe that he started playing all three races this year, so I expect to see some truly disgusting zerg strats coming out of that.
I can’t imagine a random player, playing more random (at least from the opponent’s POV) than him
lair, Ling speed , ovi speed, baneling nest into ling/bane with drops off of one gas.
–> constant queen production for creep spread; 2nd gas for nydus & ling upgrades with 3 base saturation vs. terran and protoss.
–> vs. good defense & bio get burrow asap to block bases and spread baneling mines or infestors vs. mech.
–> vs. protoss get corruptor/overseer to snipe oracle/observer/air/collossi and spread baneling mines
Vs. zerg skip the nydus and rush lurkers (after you got the lair, ovi speed & bane nest) into lurker/queen/nydus to snipe the main army & bases.
speedlings with queen drops (ling speed, lair, ovi speed); drop queens on banes to waste gas, drop lings in main while attacking the 3rd hatch, drop drones for spines vs. upcoming roaches. (and make a wall near your opponent’s 2nd base vs. ling floods similar to walling your natural vs. ling flood then take over the ramp to the main base with spines and queen blocks as well as evo chambers
–> maybe just block the ramp between main and natural (drop with 2 queens, 8 drones and 16 slow zerglings coming in from a weird angle after rushing lair into ovi speed (queens first to snipe overlords, then drones & lings right behind to wall off the top of the ramp on the other side); wall off own natural to fake a 2base roach push and provoke drones).
–> after 2nd queen pops, fully wall the front and get nydus + more lings + queens with overmins (first 2 queens have to survive until nydus supplies more queens)
Flo has a lot of Zerg cheese openings. my favorite is expo at their seccond when the start with a sim city build. Its really strong.
