im new to sc2 and im playing through all the story missions. im hoping to get into co-op play soon and was wondering if their were any websites, twitch streamers, or youtube channels that would help with some knowledge of the game. i want to be a solid teammate and maybe one day try my hand at ranked play. i have discord and other chat programs to use. maybe one of you can show me the ropes and teach me a few things? whoever reads this and responds i thank you for taking the time out of your day or night to help a fellow traveler out
Theres one for coop players. Maybe it would help.
Also, I think Maguro’s personal site can provide some help.
«Guides» section contains links to TeamLiquid guides (for all commanders except Zeratul and Stetmann), so you don’t need to search for them yourself. Be wary, thought, what some information now outdated (they never updated any of guides after their release), so don’t follow it blindly.
I can play coop with you if you feel like trying it i’ve helped a couple friends get into it and learn the basics. Add me if you want

Welcome to SC2!
I don’t have the forum trust level to put in actual links, so just remove the space forming the breaks to navigate to the actual sites…
https ://www.starcraft2coop.com/
This one’s up to date, and since it focuses on Coop mode, more of a joy to navigate overall. Playstyle tips and traps, some advice on pre-Mastery leveling up, Mission specific advice. However no notes on synergies
https ://tl.net/forum/starcraft-2/526722-co-op-commander-guide-raynor
This one’s outdated in the sense that it’s missing guides for Zeratul and Stetmann, along with their respective entries of synergies with them. It’s also outdated where it doesn’t incorporate some of the updates
For example…
-Stukov: morphing Overseers from Ol now only requires Infested Factory. NOT Infested Starport.
-Stukov: Also, Infested Diamondbacks can now Ensnare Heroic units (although only for 2.5 seconds, vs. 10s for regular units). Still can’t target Unstoppable units (hidden tag), like Shuttles from Void Launch)
-Karax: Spear Of Adun upgrade costs. lv1 to lv3 are now 200, 250, and 300 respectively, NOT 200, 300, and 400. Numerical value denotes cost in both mins and gas).
However, if you can compensate for those parts. Everything else is mostly solid.

Type in what you’re seeking in the search box (top right) to navigate around.
The site has info for ALL of StarCraft related stuff, so it’s harder to get around, but it is more comprehensive. Also includes content for lore, campaigns, Versus mode, etc.
I use this site since it lists costs for the units themselves, as well as their metadata such as how many hp, build time (bt), costs… it usually distinguishes units in Coop vs. Campaign vs. Ladder.
On the topic of TL guides, the Raynor guide is very up-to-date, and the Abathur guide is almost ready to be updated since I’m giving some attention to it. Keep in mind that the TL guides assume some degree of experience and may be a bit difficult to follow for very new players.
How did you get them updated? Alarak’s is in need of some DESPERATE updating…
I’m the original author of the Raynor guide, and I got permission to update the Abathur guide since I’m a dedicated Abathur speedrunner and mutation solo runner. The other guides aren’t getting much attention mostly due to a lack of dedicated speedrunners.

Great sources of info.
Brutal. I’m an Alarak main but not a speedrunner. Looks like Alarak gets shafted! :>
Welcome!
If you like videos I’d also suggest Hunter and CtG’s channels and they’ve also got some guides.
And using just the free commanders I’d recommend these two:
Seems to me like the problem is too narrow a requirement on who can and can’t update the guide.
If you play through the story missions you’re basically most of the way there to playing co op, it’s not much different from the campaign just with another person next to you.
Here’s some advice, start off with one of the more basic commanders like Raynor, Artanis or Kerrigan. While they might be really tricky to master to play in Brutations, for someone that’s finished the co op they should be a really nice intro for you to get used to how things go. From there, you can pick a CO that you find the most interesting and get to work leveling them up.
Co Op’s not exactly complicated and the Campaign literally has most of the missions inside of it already, so I think you’ll be just fine when you’re ready to step into co op. Just make sure to set the difficulty level to whatever you had when you played the campaign. You can calibrate for your increasing skill level later.
Commander choosing tip for beginner
5/5 star for beginner : Easiest macro & micro. OP F2A army with high power, don’t need high skill to play. Don’t have problem in early game
-Tychus, Zeratul
4.5/5 star for beginner : Easy macro, OP F2A army with some micro. Don’t have problem in early game
-Nova, Fenix, Dehaka
4/5 star for beginner : Easy macro, Army don’t op as 4.5 star if you F2A. Don’t have problem in early game
-Alarak(mech comp), Artanis, Zagara,
3.5/5 star for beginner : Easy to use but has fatal weakness in newbie hand.
Kerrigan - Weak against all type of air (if you don’t use nydus-hydra properly)
3/5 star for beginner: Weak early game commander in newbie hand. (Don’t have OP unit to help early game)
-Abathur (need to learn how to get ultimate evo)
-Swann, Karax, Vorazun, Han & Honner
2/5 star for beginner: Hard to use, Need a lot of micro to work well. Army is too fragile in hand of newbie.
-Alarak(ascendent comp), Raynor, Vorazun
1/5 star for beginner :
-Stokov : This commander nerfed to the ground. please pray for him.
-Stetmann : This commander make game lag for nothing. If you don’t play SC2 on high performance computer, Don’t use him !!!
Go Ladder Ranked!!
Welcome and GLHF
The way I learned is by watching replay of my games when ally impressed me with their skill. So I suggest to just play for fun, and when you see someone carry you with ease - review their build.
With a good build you can start to make good decisions - but this is hard to teach if possible at all.
THIS is a honest newcomer! No sarcasm. This is literally the position every new must have - I want to learn, I want to watch, I want to be worthy. I am glad I met such a person here.
But most of the new players don’t behave this way - they stupidly leech brutal, searching for good ally who will carry them.
This is the difference I was talking about many times! There are parasite noobs and there are honest newcomers. Totally different strains of humans.
Hello Newcomer and welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay
Not true, Stukov is very strong and easy to use. Specially for a newcomer that wasn’t spoiled by old mass bunkers.
Also welcome!
