i am running the game at maximum. it is just that the game fails to recognise my gpu properly and recommends other settings than ultra. when i set graphics quality on extreme, reflections is set to off, effects is set to high, movies is set to low and physics is set to high. it might also be related to the cpu not being fully recognised, as it is much newer than the game. it is an i7-9750h.
what brand of laptop, and is the game running fine or whats going on, or are just pointing out that it doesnt recogognize the gpu, if so whats it stateing the gpu is.
it is a cepter maximus sledgehammer. the game is running well at maximum. it just fails to detect optimal settings for the gpu. it is a general problem with laptop gpus. i have had the same issue on other laptops. not that that is relevant here when i no longer have them. i already included the type of gpu in the title. it is a gtx 1660 ti mobile. the pc have a dual fan setup with one gpu fan and one cpu fan.
are you sure thats a true 1660 ti tho, that laptop looks like something you would get off of wish. And wish is notorious for selling things with fake gpus.
cepter is a store specific brand sold by the store chain power. there is desktop variants too. the gpu does work with official drivers. the existance of 2 gpus however could confuse the game. the laptop have 2 gpus: intel UHD graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1660 ti. the game reports the gpu as NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1660 ti. it does use NVIDIA optimus to render on it. turning off the integrated gpu prevented stuff from rendering. turning off the NVIDIA gpu made stuff render more slowly.
okie dokie, just checking. as for the whole it stating that its a gtx 1660 ti and not mobile might be just cause the game sees them as the same, which in all aspects they are just one uses less power. The two gpu thing will be a problem tho youll have to set in the computer itself which one is the main. I know this only because recently i decided to throw an old gtx 730 into my rig with my 5700xt just to see if i could have it run the video out to my big screen for movies and such but still use the 5700 on my gaming monitors. This threw up all kinds of problems for me. The first was even tho the monitors for gameing were hooked to the 5700 sc2 was still using the gtx as the main graphics output and it demolished the fps and even on low settings. Even switching in windows to make the 5700 priority didnt help this. The second problem i had was the drivers were conflicting with eachother and i was getting monitors cutting out.
now this is a completely different scenario than what you have with the intel onboard gpu being the second but its also a bit similiar and might help you out and the only reason i even mentioned this.
my main gpu is the gtx 1660 ti. it is vastly superior to my gtx 770m in terms of gaming performance. the gtx 1660 ti still needs the integrated gpu to send the signal to it in order to run. my desktop have rtx 2080 ti. i do not technically need help here. i get optimal performance in starcraft 2 when i run it on my gtx 1660 ti. it is just that starcraft 2 fails to detect optimal settings. that is why i posted it in the bug report forum and not in the tech support forum.
