Got a Gimmick Build for me to Try?

Hi, everyone! I usually lurk through these parts but after being on such a Co Op high after the prestiges made their debut, I found myself addicted to playing again after seven months of virtually no play.

By now, I’ve gotten a good amount of commanders maxed. 11 to be exact.

That being said, I want to keep things creative and fresh for myself when I’m playing as I grind the other commanders. So I thought it’d be fun to learn some gimmick/meme builds from some other people here that I can try out myself. If you want to give me one, thank you in advanced for volunteering.

When giving the build, tell me which commander, what map it works best on, what race it works best against and the composition, and what ally could be the most helpful in making it work.

I’ll try out the build myself and tell you my results after a few tries with it.

If you’re looking for less extreme, a few suggestions I might give:

  • you could mess around with banshees as Raynor and Stukov (highly underrated units from both commanders)
  • mass turret Swann (arguably his optimal playstyle, but also a fun strategy)
  • mass nuke Mengsk
  • Vorazun without corsairs nor DTs.

Or if you’re loooking for more extreme:
Hercules full of irradiate: https://streamable.com/rpxgub

P1 Alarak wrathwalker solo:

Push with static as Karax P1.
Mass nukes as P2 Mengsk.
Queen/Torralisk as P1 Kerrigan.
Dark Archon/Centurions as P1/P2 Vorazun.
Brood queens/bunker infested marines on P3 Stukov.
Adept/distuptor on P3 Fenix.
Mass Ravens on P1 Nova.
Mass Thor drop on P3 Swann.
In some maps, no army P3 Karax, just static and SoA.

if you are playing against a composition that doesn’t have massive units then Mass Havocs can be a pretty memeish build to try to perma lock units behind force fields that you never stop spamming

For someone, the following maybe easy, but I still can’t find a good way to do it.

Use Vorazun P2 without building DT to “carry your ally”:

  • complete Oblivion Express with the bonus;
  • complete Scythe of Amon with the bonus;

I am not asking for solo. (of course if there is a solo replay would be appreciated).

I can’t find much guide/video about Vorazun P2.
I only find CtG’s video on Temple of the Past, and that is the standard DT build.

Do you have an enemy composition preference for those?

Try all queen build for Kerrigan or Zagara
Or even all War prism or Supplicant for Alarak.
I haven’t seen any all Disruptor builds either.

i will do that if i know how to post Replay

I think there is a site for uploading replay. May be asking google about it?

The meme build of meme builds is bc raynor. 25 bc’s is actually really fun, you just need an ally that can basically solo the first 10 minutes (and possibly carry for a few minutes passed that).

No army Dehaka is fun too, especially with P2 or p3. It’s best to have a competent ally for this because you will inevitably be doing less. Not even Dehaka can be everywhere.

You can go just fine with p3 bc and not needing carry first 10 mins.

I tried Mass Brood Queens in P1 Stukov. It’s really fun.

However, watch out for Irradiate and Parasitic bomb.

i tried mass war prisms with alarak p1 before the nerf/fix for the warpcanceling.

It was more meh but it actually worked.

Thanks for your reply, you are welcome to test any ai.
I just want to know is there any trick or what army composition is easier to play for Vorazun P2.

Before the prestiges, in Oblivion Express, I sometime will go mass oracle and centurion, especially when my partner is Stetmann.

After I completed all prestiges of Vorazun, I just find her P2 (non DT build) can’t work well.
When centurions stun first layer enemies, the behind enemies can kill them very fast.

When Dark Archon mind control an enemy, he usually don’t have enough energy to cast confuse. During time stop, i will try to catch as many big enemies as possible, but when time stop end, most of them will be killed by the small enemies. (I think if the mind controled enemies can move again in time-stopping, that could help a bit.)

Mind controled lurker has higher group selection than Dark Archon, this makes a bit trouble for the army control.
I hope the coop dev team can change its priority as like as ultralisk, immortal, BC, voidray…

It also may because I put all points into black hloe. Maybe the super big dark pylon can improve P2 army’ output. I need to test it later.

You don’t need to show replay/video.
I am not new to coop, so you briefly descripe the build order/ main flow / the idea, I can understand it.

For gimmick build, I think the early game build order should be different to the standard one, it may also use different method to deal with enemy wave and objective.

Vorazun P0, I will only put 15 point for shadow guard. They are important in the first 4-5 mins.
When DT get the first upgrade, shadow guard is not too useful.

But in P2, I put all to shadow guards. if I do not build DT, the army output is still low. (just like in the VT map, it take really “long” to kill the thrashers.)

Hey, all! Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas of meme/gimmick builds to try out! I’ve read them and I saw some have said P1/P2 Vorazun for Centurions and Dark Archons.

I actually had a blast using this in the past for P2. One funny thing I discovered with this build is on Part and Parcel, Centurions can stunlock the boss hybrid. It’s pretty funny to see how a bunch of tiny blade warriors can stunlock a giant monster. I loved using Dark Archons and Oracles with their stasis wards to really cripple enemies. So I can really use Vorazun’s P2 well without needing Corsairs or DT. In fact, I daresay that P2 and P3 gives you options that allow you to skip DT entirely.

I also saw Queen/Ultra, too. When really trying out P1 on the grind for P3, I loved using this composition. It was my go-to. I have good enough micro to keep up the mass transfusions to maintain their health.

If one or two of you would like to see some video footage of me making it happen for these two, I can volunteer! I have a good portion of experience with these comps.

I haven’t started Stukov’s yet…but I’ll keep this in mind!

Yeah, I tried Rebel Raider before the patch doing something like that and it just didn’t feel fun for me. I heard that you need a lot of Orbitals to make up for the steep mineral cost of air army. But I tried going pure air and it just didn’t seem like it was working unless it was just pure BC and nothing else. If you have a tip for me, I’d appreciate it.

Unfortunately, no army Dehaka can be pretty technical. Especially two of them, good god. I haven’t had much practice with that yet. Would also going mass worms help out with that?

I think a zero gas build would be fun. Mass reapers with HH on P1. Probably a map with infested like DoN or Miner Evac. It would probably be impractical against skyterran/skytoss but light air at the bases should be manageable with galleons, mines, and the fleet. Ideal enemy comp would probably be suicidal zerg. Don’t even build a refinery, so no flying reapers, faster grenade cool down, interceptor upgrades or strike fighters etc. You could still build turrets and agro air units to them also.

Sounds like a challenge. No gas, huh? I haven’t started grinding Han & Horner yet. But I’ll check back here to try it out once I ever get started grinding them.
