Hi there, mostly a lurker. From my experience, it seems that people who say some variation of “glhf”, “hello”, “hi!”, etc. in the beginning of a mission are less likely to drop out during the middle of fight, do something douchey towards you or otherwise a nightmare partner. It’s almost like saying “glhf” (or something like it) is a symbol for the other person to say “hey, I’m not a jerk”. Do you greet people often? I usually say “let’s rock.”
I use (glhf) every game
I always start with “Hello!” and finish with “gg”. If I’m impressed with my ally’s game play, I also add a “wp” at the end.
And you are right, it’s a kind of a mark of a decent person. On the ladder, for example, quitting without a gg is considered a rage quit.
I say…
- Sup
- Wassup
- yoyo
- Yo
I don’t say it, but if someone else does, I’ll respond in kind
I never do greetings, I never drop out.
I don’t do “greeting” because it is pointless in my view.
Yeah, it’s like when people say “hi” to me on the street or smile when they walk by, I just ignore them. /s
If they say what I mean to say, I got to the next.
In order;
- Howdy
- Yo
I usually start with the “(glhf)”, except when I play Mengsk then I ctrl z, D, z, select CC ctrl 9, s, and then a “(lghf)” or something similar.
Still need to change my topbar hotkeys… But standard keys are doable…
I usually open with a (glhf) and a question if I need to know what style an ally is playing. Usually on something like Karax or Swann.
i start with hi or hello.
It feels strange to say “gl hf” to your teammates since, well, you are teammates.
Saying it to opponents makes sense because you declare you wish them to have a fun time and you wish that luck is not against them.
Its sort of already expected that by default you wish your teammates “gl hf” since their “gl hf” is also your “gl hf” cause you are on the same team, so saying it feels a bit weird to me but whoever in coop says gl hf i also reply with gl hf.
I never use those, and mainly politely respond with different greetings if they start with something like that.
I had also many cases where ppl literally were chatting the whole match which was a bit annoying.
On the other hand I also reply politely if they finish the game with the usual ggwp and so on.
I usually start with a glhf or a hfhf. I dunno, just feels like a friendly way to greet your teammate.
I also always start with a GL HF or some equivalent. Its polite, and perhaps just as importantly it tells your teammate that youre present and willing to use words.
I pretty much always use “gl hf” and “gg” out of common courtesy, even during instances where such greetings aren’t reciprocated or we end up losing in the end.
I use “hi”,“gl” or “hf” i got only 70 apm and dont wanna waste
I don’t play SC2 ladder but always say glhf and gg in WC3 ladder.
But in SC2 Co-OP I’m like this. I wait and then respond in kind.
Hello/Heya here. I like my teammate to be conversational, rather than just trying to finish the mission asap.
When I was grinding I found it slightly fun to say “ahoy there, [not name, but the title of commander]” just to make it different.
