Unlike what Zerg and Toss whiners tell you, Siege Tank is not a good unit outside of TvT and niche role in TvZ and TvP. In non-mirror match-ups in most cases you are better without Siege Tanks.
canât speak for Zerg, but Ghost will probably deal more damage via emp and snipe than Siege tanks in a reasonable fight, and since itâs in a burst fashion itâs probably better than Tanks.
Other than early Tank push I really donât think Tanks are good in PvT at all.

Well tanks can kill Banelings while Ghosts canât (please donât say lolsnipe), so I think thatâs a pretty big deal.
2 tank volleys can kill a decent number of Banelings if they arenât split, right?
Yes⌠one shot does 100 damage to air and ground in a larger radius without diminishing damage and without freindly fire. Plus it damages energy. Plus ghosts have cloak and steady aim. Which wrecks ultras and does pretty well against all other high value bio units. Nukes are thrown in for âfreeâ. Oh, and it has the best DPS for a caster in the game and no light or armored tag.
Not Blizzardâs fault you dont use your ghosts correctly.

Bull ****. We see pros make ghosts all the time in PvT even against a robo based army. Maybe LESS ghosts for sure but even a one or two ghosts laying down EMPs center of mass on the Toss army is worth it. Especially since they make sentries basically obsolete and still do good dps vs zealots. And provide detection against DTs.
And of course you are being silly and not even mentioning TvZ where Ghosts are just as good, maybe even better. Absolutely wreck ultas.

Imagine complaining about ghosts. You really have run out of things to complain about if you are complaining about OP units.
Well, if it is just 10 Ghosts and 10 tanks facing each other, then the 10 Ghosts will win 100% of the time because of the cloak.
If you include scan, then there might be some chance that Tank will win but it depends on whether or not the Ghosts have nukes, and how many scans do those Tanks have at their disposal.
If Iâm attacking with ultras. The ghosts are scarier.
If Iâm attacking with ling/bane. The siege tanks are scarier.
In TvZ, ghosts counter ultra, brood, and vipersâŚ

Without +1 damage upgrade their kill zone is pathetic thanks to unreasonable +5 hp buff that Banelings got out of nowhere.
There are no hold fire for tanks (unlike certain L-unit that Zerg have) and it will fire at zerglings automatically.
So not only you have to target fire manually banes with tanks to get 3-4 banes killed, your Zerg opponent have to be a moron who sends banes in front of lings.
You would be in MUCH better position if you spend your APM splitting your units.
Also given current wide open maps with 100500 alternative paths Zergs will just kill tanks with lings from behind.
That is assuming you wonât be caught with tanks unsieged. It takes so long for tanks to siege that your army will be long dead before this happens. Tank is not a certain Zerg L-unit that can siege 4-5 times faster than Tank, have no minimal range and MUCH larger AoE area and more hp.
Outside of first push with 2-3 tanks you benefit from building tanks only if Zerg adds Hydra (but even in this case you need healthy number of WMs to protect your army from ling-banes) OR if Zerg is playing roach-hydra style which is very rare.
When Viper or Ultra or BLs join the party Tanks become obsolete.
They are more like a psychological weapon.
They donâ counter Vipers, it is Vipers that can counter Ghosts if the the Zerg wants to do that for some reason (normally ling-bane-hydra army counter late game Terran army good enough).
Can tanks be invisible?, sending nukes?,erasing energy and shields in a couple of seconds?, sniping air units?, would you fight 10 mutas with 10 tanks or with 10 ghosts?
Being fairly standard even at lategame is considered niche role now?
Ghost EMP deletes every gateway unit, its one of the best spells in the game and makes trading against P a lot easier.
Ghost is the only reason that Terran has a chance against toss. Tanks pretty much suck against toss. But is ghost that much better than tanks against toss due to their difficulty of controlâŚ
I would say that ghost have a slight edge against toss if you reach a critcle number and have half way decent control
