Forgg+Protech in 2v2

Have won 72 games in a row for the last 3 seasons and won a total of 7 MMR.

Fix your system for christs sake.

2v2 is a dead format. Nobody plays it. Of you will have to accept big mmr differences when finding matches. Basically anyone who queues is going to be matched with anyone who queues because it’s so rare that anyone queues.

Playerbase is quite healthy if you look at nonapa.

The issue, is the cap for master tier 1 on NA is too high. Couple seasons ago mid seasons they adjusted the MMR for the playerbase, and it was fun again. With the way it is now, high MMR is a huge waste of time, because you can’t even queue into players who were previously M1, because everyone is intentionally keeping their MMR between 4K and 4.4K because that’s where all the good players are palying.

5.8k protoss can’t survive the first 5 minutes of the early game vs someone who doesn’t play hardly at all anymore (me). Just look at the screenshots I post. This game is deader than a door-nail. Nobody plays it anymore. I noticed the ladder issues several years ago in 1v1. 2v2 is going to have double the issues because you need double the people to find a match. That’s just common sense. It’s one of the reasons I don’t like team games. It’s no fun beating up gold league players.

The KR server is even more dead than the NA server. The NA server is ironically the most active by far, which is why there are so many EU/KR people smurfing on the NA ladder. Just look at nonapa. It says the peak hour of NA ladder play has 6300 games. That’s 105 people in queue per minute. Only 22% of them play 2v2. That brings it down to 23 people in queue. Their skill level varies from 1,000 mmr to 5,000 mmr.

There is no way, mathematically, that you can find good matches when you’re working with a set of 23 people and such a huge spread in skill representation. That’s for peak play on the most active server. Unless you like beating up 12 year olds on their gold-league accounts, 2v2 is a dead format.

There are plenty of players on at the moment. You just can’t queue into them because everyone is playing at 4k - 4.4k.

No one has historically played a super high MMR in 2v2. The problem is you can’t find the good players, because non of the good players are playing at a high MMR.

Instead, for whatever reason the system forces you to search for 6m 30s, then puts you with way lower ranked teams.

Because nobody plays. Statistical outliers only occur in large sets. If you have a small set, you will be the only one with high MMR. If you are the only one, then it’s a small set.

If I recall correctly you are above 5k mmr in skill. Forgg is around 6300. The mean MMR is 2850 or thereabout. The variance of MMR should, in theory, be 400. 5k is therefore a sigma 5.375. 6300 is sigma 8.625. The combination of the two of you is then (5.375+8.625)/sqrt(2)=9.9.

Do you know how ridiculously rare that skill level is? If we were picking two players at random, that skill combination would happen in less than 0.0000000000001% of cases.

Could you imagine Serral complaining about earning 7 points every time he beats Harstem? Yeah, that’s what you’re doing, lmao. You’ve beaten the game, champ.

2v2 is bad for mmr gain. I play 2v2 and 3v3 mainly and the mmr gain in 2v2 compared to 3v3 is horrible. You can win 4 -5 games in a row gain a total of 20+ mmr and as soon as you lose a game you lose that 20+ mmr in one game. Ive been stuck in bronze 1 rank 8 for the last two seasons even tho I win the magority of my games there. Ive had matchs left and right where the mmr gain is litterally 1 -2 points. yet the other team will lose 20-30.

As for the people playing 2 v2 it seems like 2v2 is only filled with bronze silver and fake master 1 players, cause you know they still havent bothered to fix that problem yet. If i play a gold, plat, or diam, its very very rare. And we still have the comp bot on 2v2 as well.

2v2 is a general mess and really needs to be looked at.

What i’m doing is trying to understand why the system in a 6m 30s period of time can’t seem to give us 4k+ players.

You can message spam people to see if they are searching for a game, so I go through divisions and look for 4k+ arrange team to queue up against at the same time. Instead of getting those players, the system always skips them and instead puts us against 3k-4k players.

I’m not just arbitrarily saying the system is borked, it actually is just not pairing games up correctly.

Why do you think that your opponents can’t do the same? After seeing who they are against, check the private messages, wait until you find and opponent and continue with queue.

because when someone messages you, or you message them, you can see their queue. I can tell you we often times skip 4k+ teams, and instead get paired with 3K teams, as I can see the queues in real time.

There is something wrong w/ the match maker.

When I said I longed for the days of ProTech complaining about 2v2 I meant it in a rhetorical, “I’d rather the lesser of two evils”, kind of way.
