Why does it feel like I’m cheating using any other commander now?
Cause he’s your husband now
Not really what I meant by cheating… also nasty.
Well, he could get you all the free terrazine you ever wanted! A match made in HEAVEN means the hubby is always high.
I am sorry, i am not sure if my goofiness is crossing the line here.
Oh I fully expected some, if not all responses to be like the first one. Disgusting, but still funny.
Gotta master Super Gary and his Hydralisks for Stettman to be competitive. Anti-air game in a purple stetzone is great.
Did the same this weekend. Its either the terracine oder this dumb commander but i feel scammed for roughly 5 bucks…
Never gonna touch this commander again i guess
That’s what you get if go in expecting you won’t have to share your best oil.
I leveled with Zergling/Hydra the whole time. I only tried the other units out a few times right after I unlocked them, before going back to ling/hydra. Honestly, just that one comp made brutal pretty easy. I don’t know why people are having trouble with him. I only made corruptors in addition to ling/hydra if I was on Void launch, or against certain specific air comps.
Are you guys not spreading your stetzones? Are you leaving your stetzones on just one color? Are you forgetting to upgrade your hydras? Stetmann is great if you can keep on top of his stetzones and upgrades. His blue makes every unit so fast that I forget to use Gary’s teleport. His green makes health almost a non-issue, especially if you spread the stetzones fast enough to spread them with your army, as you push into the enemy. His purple gives infinite energy, and all of his units get some kind of bonus just from having energy.
Here’s how I manage my stetzone colors. Go Blue when nothing is happening, (because resource mining boost) and when you need to get somewhere, then Go Green during the fight, and right after to heal everything up, then Go purple to top off the energy for all your units after any engagement, and then go back to blue. It’s pretty straightforward. Oh and if you overcharge a Stetalite, cycle between all three while the overcharge is active, and then go green until the fight is over, and then to purple, and then blue like above.

I just wish his Battle Carrierlords could target air with the locustceptors, so that I felt like they were worth using. Even as they are, they aren't bad, they are really good against ground comps, and the locustceptors make the ground better, which is fine, but Stetmann is already great against ground. He has leaping Banelings, so you don't have to make way for them, he has Lurkers, and Ultralysks to take care of swarms easily. He can deal with ground comps fantastically as is. Locustseptors just don't make Carrierlords good enough against ground to justify using them over the other numerous ground compositions that Stetmann has. Stetmann has anti ground diversity, what he lacks is anti air diversity. Stetmato is okay, but if I'm facing air, I'm not going to rely on Stetmato, I'm going to just stick to corruptors/hyrdas, and never make any Carrierlords. Not to mention the time, and resource cost, to make enough Carrierlords, to be as good as any of his other Compositions, and then I'm moving slower than all the other comps too...And I didn’t even mention Infestors… because I don’t use them. I tried them to see what all the fuss was about, and then I never touched them again. Idk I have a personal thing against using comps that seem too powerful, and they cause the most lag, so I don’t want to use them.
Keep in mind that once your minerals/gas is fully saturated with drones/probes/scv the blue zone does not result in more minerals/gas harvested.
So blue zone is useful for early game economy but as soon as you hit full workers its no longer an economy boost.
What, really? I didn’t know that, thanks man
Ditto. My “usual” with Stetmann is to spread Stetalites, get Super Gary ASAP, and go mass hydras. Alas, I do end up running low on gas at some point, so I make Lings as a Mineral dump.
While leveling him up, I did try Corrupters, MBCL, and his Infesters. I wouldn’t mind doing the former 2 again, although they are costly and take more time. I should make it a point to try more Banelings. However, I’ve been a bit spoiled by Zagara’s free Banelings.
Also, for a while, I missed that Egonergy does NOT regen on its own. You need the purple field for that. Not a biggie, but taking away from blue or green isn’t trivial.
I ended up “going bundle” for the Stimpack, even though I’m already into Ascension (IIRC, lv204?). I don’t mind throwing some extra money to Blizzard every now and then. I would’ve gotten the Simulant Zerg unit skins (only have them for buildings, and back then, I had to relevel up to Ascension from scratch, so the XP boost was GREATLY appreciated), but then I learned you can’t use them in Coop anyways. Then Stetmann himself DIRECTLY covered that.
I did mostly the same thing, just swapped to ultralisks once I had their “I CAN’T DIE EVER” upgrades. Tried the battlecarrier lords once or twice, wasn’t too impressed. Either way, got him leveled, don’t think I’m ever gonna touch him again.
I played a ton of Stetmann after finishing leveling him, but eventually the lag was just too much. I would play tons of Stetmann if it weren’t for the lag, but as it is he’s kinda ruined by it.
I definitely didn’t like last commanders since HH.
My feeling is that he plays like Zerg except you have Stetzones and Gary. Most Egonergy stuff isn’t really affecting gameplay apart from recharging it. Gary has nice army enhancing, both for you and your ally, as do the stetzones, they are amazing to fight under for both players. If you’re not that much into support, not much can be done I suppose.
For what reasons do you dislike him then? Cause you’re not saying anything specific here
Stetzones for creep in a way that’s more relevant to co-op rather than 1v1, and Gary does the work of Queens in a way that, again, is more suited to co-op. The actual feel of using Gary in co-op is closer to queens in 1v1 than queens in co-op is to queens in 1v1. Ditto for Stetallites.
Stetelites are somehow much nicer to use and spread than creep. Maybe cause there’s not much else to do. Creep in coop really just gives you vision, but you see Attack waves on the minimap already, and Kerrigan who gets strong bonus fighting on creep spreads creep better via Omega Worms. Does Abathur for example get anything for fighting on creep?
Creep gives vision AND move speed, but the speed is a lot less relevant against a-move Amon. And both are much, MUCH less relevant against predictable, marked, scripted attacks.
And moving around queens ends up much more practical in 1v1, while co-op it’s always just attack-defend-attack-defend in an endless rhythm (only thing to keep us from going crazy being stuck on 2 base). Meanwhile, stetallites just being placed from the sky helps with this problem where moving queens back and forth is just cumbersome.
The biggest reason, is no one wants to play with him. the moment they see him in the load screen, they force close the game. Other reasons include the heavy micro (I suck at it), and the travesty of the battlecarrier lord. That thing leaves much to be desired for its cost.
