It was one of the weekly mutations that I failed to clear last year no matter how many times I tried.

And yesterday we cleared it with P1 Kerrigan and P3 Stukov. The strategy is simple, my ally Stukov overrun them with numbers, and I just build mass mutalisks to snipe the Shuttles over and over.
The introduction of the prestige system is really trivialized a lot of “hard” mutations in the past.
It also helped that HftS was extensively rebalanced since Memorable Boss so that you didn’t have to focus down 9 heroes in 2 minutes. Plus the new point system introduced since then ensured that not every wave spawned three new heroes.
Most of the difficulty from that time came from the fact that HftS was really built for one map, and they used it on a different map without really testing it - it was only much later (sometime after Assembly of Vengeance) that HftS is where it is today.
That said, the point is valid - new commanders, new prestiges, new strategies all made past weekly mutations easier. Back then, Burning Legion was seen as unbearably difficult. Today, Burning Legion wouldn’t crack the top ten in hardest mutations.

Out of these points, new strategies is the most important. Back then people was new to mutations and the answer to void rifts was “build a lot of def”, today most of the community understands that rifts need to be killed asap and lnl is a map where most rifts spawn in an open accessible area, making it one of the easiest for the mutator.
But memorable boss, with hfts as it was when the mutation was live, would still be incredibly difficult even taking ideal prestiges for it.
