And when you reach the late game, even micro becomes harder for Zerg.
Late-game micro zerg consists of:
managing your ground and air army separately
even manage your air units separately actually, since corruptors and broodlords have different roles, and you also have vipers in there
babysit your stupid infestors and vipers so they don’t run into the enemy line because they don’t have any ranged auto-attack like High Templars or Ghosts
manage your three spellcasters, which all have 3-4 spells each
And you need to this while at the same time:
recreeping all the time against constant nuke pressure
reposition spore forests all the time
keep injecting every 25 sec
defend harass/harass yourself
Meanwhile, Terran players no longer have anything to manage but their army and they passively stack energy to spam scans while never looking at their 154 planetary fortresses surrounded by siege units.
If you have siege units defending your 3-4 Planetary Fortresses (exaggerating the number does not help your argument), then that’s that many less siege units attacking the enemy. And as we have seen, Planetary Fortresses are not invincible. They can still fall, especially to Lurkers and Brood Lords.
I also don’t know why you think Terran doesn’t have to manage their units separately, since stimmed bio obviously have different roles from Widow Mines or tanks, which have to be in a separate control group and managed diffrently (either running up to burrow or taking up position to siege). Even for mech, your Hellions and Cyclones will have to be managed differently from your siege tanks.
Now I am NOT saying Zerg is somehow easier. I’m just saying every race has its own complexities and advantages. Let’s stop this “my race is harder” posts and focus on improving our individual playstyles, and develop mechanics or tactics we favor rather than whining about balance.
In a time when only Zerg is winning tournaments, this kind of claim goes straight to most people’s junk folders. Get better noob and learn to play. It is the easiest race to win with right now. Try playing some terran late game and see if you can keep up.
I don’t like playing Protoss but I can understand the appeal. I tried playing Zerg, but I suck at creep spread too much, though my macro tends to align more with Zerg and re-maxing whenever I needed. But I just like giant robots and armadas of Battlecruisers.
Where’s your nydus though or tech-switch from brood lords to swarm hosts in case of mass ghosts?
Why don’t you get a few lurkers to attack PFs and production via nydus or runby?
Do you keep a high drone count of 80 and get pairs of static defense on the map vs. ghost runbys?
How many overseers for changelings do you have to find weak spots?
Why do you play late-game if you don’t like to play it?
Why would you play a game where you can’t loose? Is it not way more rewarding to win in a hard game vs. a good player?
TL;DR: Try and replay brood lords with swarm hosts and use nydus more vs. mass ghosts/libs/tanks?
A replay would be nice! (IF you want to improve that is - if you just want to gather ideas that’s fine, too.)
I never said I didn’t like it. I said it was more difficult than playing Terran. I just so happen to enjoy difficulty, else I’d be playing a MOBA instead of a RTS.
The only thing that’s really “harder” for playing as Zerg is the need to constantly bounce back to your base so you can manage your larva, imo. Every race has complex spellcasters, every race has to manage air and ground games separately, and every race has to worry about letting the close range/speedy bois getting in too close and getting mashed.
Yeah - that’s why you have creep and static defense.
Terran has sensor turrets that you can snipe and scan (terran) vs. changelings (zerg).
Don’t fight the army or PFs if you can kill the production way easier.
