Dustin Browder leaves Blizzard

Dustin Browder, the formal lead designer of SC2 and director of Heroes of the Storm, leaves Blizzard. Two other high ranking staffs of Heartstone also leave.
Any thought?

For myself, I heard that a lot of people do not like him and any projects he worked performed poorly but regain strength after he left.

Example of someone with no talent given jobs that require only talent. Idiot person. LK69 btw

My thoughts? Blizzard is shooting themselves in the foot and it’s only getting worse.

For the most part I think it’s just people don’t like his work. People around here always blame something else for a game being “bad” or unfair. If anything, while SC2 was more fun for a while when the workers changed, I feel the game has been more hectic than ever.

Whether or not you like it is up to you and is fine. Not like anyone is capable of pleasing everyone, so just do the best possible and be content.

Blizz is finished, just shut down the company.

good riddance.

I thoroughly enjoyed both SC2 and Heroes of the Storm. It is unfortunate neither game delivered under Dustin’s watch. Both of those games lacked the addictive ingredients to become mainstream online games, it is the reason why so many streamers dropped off after Heroes launch, and SC2 fell out of the e-sports orbit.

He is gifted at hyping games, when Dustin talked about games to the press or at Blizzcon it made you want to play them. He is good at making memorable single-player experiences.

Dustin being no longer at Blizzard is a mixed bag. He brought something special to the single-player experiences, but it truly was time for him to take a backseat as a lead. The company needs someone who can make strong decisions. Dustin went from one end of the spectrum RTS (sweat inducing mechanics) to a Brawler (team based snowflake gaming). A sign he wasn’t a believer in himself.

His SC2 experience scarred him too much, instead of doubling down and trying to get it right a second time in Heroes, he became weak willed. This weakness perpetuated outward into all his dealings including with the gaming press regarding Heroes skin diversity. In his old age, Dustin became too much of a pleaser.

He probably left because they canceled his starcraft version of command & conquer Renegade.
Wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the problems with his games came from meddling from higher ups.

Hasnt browder been gone or no

DB is complete garbage, took the biggest game in PC history and decided he needed to change everything people liked about it.

Screw that loser.

It is a bit concerning considering how many prominent blizzard employees have left within the last few years, but overall I’d say the SC team is a cut above the rest. Soo I think we’ll be fine.

The future is female, and men that look female.

It’s sad to see so many people talking ill about Dustin Browder. You might not have agreed with some of his decisions, but you can’t deny the fact that he played a major part in making one of our favorite games which we still play and talk about frequently. After all, if you really hate Blizzard or SC2 or DB then what are you still doing here 9 years later? I’ve met several Blizzard game devs at conventions/tournaments and they are incredibly hard working and passionate people. If I met Dustin Browder I would shake his hand and thank him for participating in my favorite series of all time. Long live the Rock <3

Dustin was cool. Those destructible rocks were legendary. I wish we got an announcer pack with him. “Terrible terrible damage”

this is not so simple.

if you’ve noticed with a lot of blizzard games there’s a push for forced “diversity” I dont think this was his call. I think higher ups are making crap calls and sadly directors are taking the full end of the blows for these.

look at diablo 4 and them admitting it’ll have microtransactions. the game is years out and they already have that junk locked down.

it’s all about focusing on money now rather than the game first and then the money comes in because of a good game.

im bummed he’s gone. the starcraft 2 campaign was fun. sadly on the business side they forced this split campaign crap but this says Kotick all over it
