Do you plan on playing SC2 long term?

Dispite the official confirmation from the devs that this game will no longer be updated? No more new content outside of maybe new mods and arcade maps with at most a few balance changes here and there. I like this game and I will probably continue to enjoy it for a while, but it does sadden me that this game has been shelved.

I can’t play right now, but as soon as I can my plan is playing until the servers are closed or until I find other rts as fun as sc2.

I started playing with the idea of maybe playing a couple of years at most, ended playing more than 10 years, you can’t plan things, you play, and if you like the game you keep playing it, if you don’t like it, you play other games, no need to stay playing something you don’t like, or the idea of playing for years because even if you like the game for many reasons you can stop playing it.

I don’t think about the future or the past, I play because I like the game, I don’t play because I played for 11 years, I don’t play because my plan is playing for other 11,everything can change so there is no point in thinking about future.

Why not? BW has 20 years that was not patched and it is safe and sound. Chess has minor changes once in 100 years and is fine.
Now, as Diogenes said no one can make forcasts for long term but as long as Servers are up the game will be played.
Some toxic players will abandon the game but that is a good thing.

You make a good point here. The game in my opinion is still fun and there is plenty of things to do. New maps will be made. New mods, arcade games and there is plenty of achievements to be hunted.

I still call for an abolition of the en passant rule.
It was only ever made, because the french could not beat the germans in their Wall.

It’s not like new games are any better. Maybe I’d find an old game that takes my fancy but until then I’m suck playing SC2 if I want to play any game.

I like SC2. I will continue to play it. By and large its a pretty decent game.

I would like stripes and spots for my zerg units, some sort of carrier nerf and spine crawlers to root faster. I wish terrans had to research stuff like U238 shells and siege for siege tanks but hey you can’t have everything. Scourge, I am looking at you…

I grew up alongside this game, and I’ve most likely come to love it more than almost all of you out there. But there have been some serious internal issues for a while now, and they were never fixed decisively (or made worse). On top of that, the community seems to have some serious sense of delusion at the top level and massive amounts of rotting at the low level (not talking about forum delusion). Worst of all is many of the friends I’ve come across in SC2 have quit or gone quite inactive. It’s just a sad experience all around. And in terms of real life, no one knows about this game anymore. There’s no claim to glory or pride in playing the hardest esport game nowadays. I could go on, but my point is, I can tell when it’s time to transition to something else. We hit that time many years ago when all the other games started falling in order. I’ve found another game. It’s not as good as SC2, but it’s very much alive in every sense of the word, and you don’t have to deal with hackers.

What a disgusting person you are.

I’ll keep playing as long as I can find co-op games. Since my baby was born I don’t do competitive PvP, just campaign, VS AI, and co-op.

But I’ve branched out into AoE 2 partially because it’s still getting frequent updates and new expansions still. I’m going to give AoE4 a try when it is released this fall. So I’m not putting all my eggs in the Blizzard basket.

Congratulations! We the First-Born always rejoice when our ranks are increased by more future warriors.
We don’t multiplicate like Zergs or like terran-rabbits, but on the other hand we live 1000 years and a single protoss warrior is able to single-handedly kill countless Zerg/Terran.

We will stop the Zerg/Terran infestation!
At any cost.

En Taro Adun!

Not sure what you find disgusting about me listing reasons why this game is no longer worth playing as frequently. I’m going to act like you for a second

Protoss players start families, Terran players break wrists.
So tell me, Terran Man, what will the future look like, to you?

No, I’m not interested in being as good as TY just so I can STILL lose to worse players.

:man_facepalming: you being an embarrassment dont you . I will just say: Demuslim but who knows maybe Inno too.

Yes, as long as i find an hour or 2 per week to play it, its a super fun game. Lack of updates doesnt really matter to me that much, lets face it, with the time i can play I will never reach a level where any possible nuances of imbalance left will really matter. And I only play 1-1 ladder, not interested in other modes.

yeah but I can only play a couple days per week because I work full time. Was gonna get into ladder this season but I got side tracked playing custom campaigns haha. Plus I will be out of town for like a month so I will miss out on a lot of time laddering…and down here in bronze and silver half the games your queued against are either bots or smurfs…so basically a waste of time anyways.

Of course I’m not
SC2 as a whole died in 2014 - 2015 but there was a tiny hope for a miracle
LotV rolled out and the bad turned the worst

I pushed myself to play at least some time in 2016 - 2017 and got 4.7 - 5k Z (gave up on keybindings setup tbh), 5.2k P (got it literally in 2 days doing random bs and dropped the race forever. even tho I’m BW Z\P and P used to be my main race since the release. the effort\efficiency ratio is simply disgusting) , ~5.45k T
It’s impossible to enjoy LotV as a game unless you make money out of it or you’re a type of person enjoying being in the club while playing freaking <=5k for decades

My last gasp of SC2 was at least some ā€œcommunity interactionā€. I didn’t have much time to play so for me it was an occasional meme streamsniping (guys like Rotti, Winter, WhiteRa, Beasty) or getting opponents like Reynor, Namshar, Soul, Botvinnik, Bly, etc. on go4sc2 weekly tournaments

I’m glad some ladder folks I played made at least something out of the absolute trash game
And I’m happy that I dropped the stinky game earlier

Kinda funny that the biggest ā€œ5k-5.5k ladder noobs from 2016ā€ earnings belong to P (e.g. goblin, Krystianer, Art, Shadown compared to Shino, Hopt, Souleer, Monstr, Motik and a lot of guys I can’t even find on liquipedia)

If I’ll want to play some RTS (not sure if it’s correct to consider LotV as an RTS game) it can be BW but not SC2 for sure

I never plan on playing professionally so yeah, I plan on playing until the servers go down.

Even if the servers go down, I will play the campaign over and over again. Starcraft basically is my hobby whenever stress or real life s*** happens.
