Dehaka's devour

Specifically, Dehaka devouring capital ships, that is. Especially baby Dehaka.

I think this should be changed. Nothing is in real scale, there’s silly physics all over the place, but I draw the line at baby Dehaka yanking a BC out of the sky with his tongue and eating it. That’s too far.

Dehaka could stand to be nerfed anyway, honestly. Not necessary exactly, but he could certainly handle it. I want there to be limits on devour targets.

B-B-But I like being able to Devour the Stanks!

No buli. :C

I wonder how he digest those giant ships.

Actually, I don’t wanna know

Maybe make it so Dehaka can’t devour massive units till level 10 or 12 or something.

I just prestige Dehaka today (gonna take longer without warchest … sigh). My first game of the day Dehaka devouring a Hybrid Behemoth baby(ish) (not level 1 but low level) pretty much save me with the bugged wave on Chain of Ascension.

But I agree the physics of it doesn’t feel right.

with taco sauce of course

Think of the the hundreds of people in those ships in the dark trap in a zerg belly full of acid and god knows what else, with only the occasional collision of other capital ships to remind them of their impending doom.

Honestly, not allowing baby Dehaka to devour massive units would be a buff. It would teach people to play Dehaka better by eating low health biological units while leveling to keep his health up.

Ok, first of all… it’s not his tongue

And secondly, they just crash and not eaten (just cuz it’s called Devour). The unique crashing animations are too much duh :unamused:

Last but not least, why don’t you have a complimentary line huh? What about godzilhaka not flatten every Marine, Zergling, and the likes with one foot?

Turns out a 60 second cd on devour wasn’t a big enough penalty to teach players after all.

A stank??? This thing is resistant to sunl… Oh, nevermind

Tell that to the Thors and the Odin…

Ehhhh… wow devouring massive units in level 1 is a huge boon for low level dehaka and already a fair compensation with 60 second cooldown.

If you want to have it changed, then at least have Dehaka swallow massive units in level 6.

Why? They’re usually really bad targets to devour, so why would you want to remove that?

I’m confused why you’d say that. Please give one realistic scenario where <L5 Dehaka is better off swallowing something huge rather than a psionic or low health bio.

Edit: I think I get it now, you mean softening up an Abb before devouring for the spines, right? Good on early DoN or ME.

Well, for example on Chain of Ascension when zerg are your enemies, there are 2 massive units (Aberration and Ultralisk) guarding the expansion in brutal.
I clear them very quickly with devour.

On another example, at part and parcels I sometimes eat Hybrid Dominator near the expansion to quickly dispose of it (for the heck of it) or quickly destroy Protoss Colossus near the bonus train rails.

That’s right! In Void launch, Oblivion express and Miner evacuation there are one Aberration and eating them give me an edge to defeat other enemy forces.

Baby dehaka eating a leviathan is the best thing ever!

There is, or at least there used to be, a mod that attempts to scale and balance all units according to lore. Despite the mod allowing you to zoom out extremely far the mothership and leviathan still don’t fit on the screen. It’s a very cool mod, but not a very fun one and definitely not a balanced one.

When something in the game is ridiculous from the perspective of lore the appropriate thing is not to change the game but to just enjoy the laugh. Carbot pokes a lot of fun things like this, and also the reverse where lore/story is ridiculous from the perspective of the game (e.g. covert oops).

Co-op is for fun, not for debating whether or not something is physically possible or impossible.
If we have done that, Marine wouldn’t be able to shoot down carrier in the first place. And it is not just marine, the entire game itself wouldn’t even be existing like it is right now.
Just enjoy the game.

I tried to address this in the op; I’m fine with a good deal of nonsensical things. Unit size has to be within bounds otherwise the game is just unplayable. It would also be more trouble than it’s worth to worry about height of aircraft.

But like I said, I think dehaka’s devour is over the line. And since Dehaka is a little OP anyway, why not nerf devour a bit.

here is an idea: why not bind what he can devour to the level of devour? devours levels is after all restricted by dehakas levels.
