Prestige 1: I haven’t played it yet, to be honest.
Prestige 2: I thought this was pretty fun to use, Murvar absolutely destroyed void shards which was entertaining to watch, though Dakrun felt more underwhelming (maybe that’s just because Dakrun is ground only). Essence consumption for Dehaka was a nice QoL feature for them, though I wish Glevig had a larger pickup radius since he’s mostly immobile. Maybe three times larger? I appreciate that you can cancel it early. I have mixed feelings about Dehaka reappearing where he was when you end it as I can see when it would be useful to choose where he shows up, and I also almost wish the talent functioned more like Fenix’s suits. Only almost.
Prestige 3: This was an absolute blast. I love this prestige talent, it opened all sorts of fun tactical options. After I got over his clone being named “Zweihaka” I liked to split my army into Dehaka and Zweihaka with their own troops and cover bonus or split objectives. The only thing I don’t like is that Zweihaka is a lot more distinguishable from his army than Dehaka is and had a neat Deathwing kind of vibe going on, so it felt like playing with Dehaka and the other, cooler Dehaka. Maybe give Dehaka some nice touch-ups too? He is the king, after all.
I also like that there’s a ‘hidden’ advantage and disadvantage where you can arbitrarily start with all four of Dehaka’s abilities at Commander level 15, but splitting your essence between Dehaka and Zweihaka means it’s possible neither of them may hit Hero level 15 by the end of the game and unlock everything.

Devouring One is pretty good actually, spreading the buffs around more than makes up for the decrease in Dehaka’s effectiveness overall. Giving your whole army an attack buff and bonus to anti-armour damage for example has them shred mech armies so very quickly.

Prestige 2: I felt like losing the ability to do other calldowns at the same time and Dehaka was not worth the bonuses. Maybe the calldowns should last longer to help make up for it, even with the usual Mastery bonus. This would give more strategic options, say letting Dakrun work alongside Mutas for a while.
Prestige 3: Zweihaka is Dehaka’s Luigi. I don’t like the death of one killing the other, which would offset the slow growth of both of them. Loved that F4 is set to Luigihaka.
Across all the Prestige classes and even the “regular” version it seems like the calldowns (or maybe just Big Wurms and Glevig) now require the space to be clear of your units, instead of tossing them out of the way. Maybe someone can confirm this is a regression?
Would love to see the Big Wurms get more burrow moves, like Glevig. They’re sadly limited to one.
I agree with above, I have to tell you about Prestige 1 though.
Dehaka maybe less powerful and more reliant on army but their army has grown many folds.
If Dehaka consumes a biological unit all of the unit instantly heals 26%, Mutalisks are more tougher than their already are!
Unfortunately it has one critical problem that is Psionic consumption and Massive consumption.
All of the two problem above has potential to cause great lags.
Psionic consumptions (This problem is Fixed)
- Psionic explosion done by multiple can have instant area damage burst, but this causes temporary lag.
Units leaving a flash of effect causes lag.
Although I haven’t captured a video showing multiple Psionic Explosion just yet, I have a video of same case:
Starcraft 2 Zagara Baneling Regenerative Acid Improvement (Show at 1:36)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxNR2_E2V7U&feature=youtu.be
The burst of 199 Banelings at the same time with effects leaves a huge lag.
I hope Devs can avoid it.
Massive Consumption
- This will cause a huge lag in mutations like diffusion when Dehaka and his units are benefitting from “Massive” buff.
“Massive” buff bestows reflective attack responding to exterior harm if they are near the train with diffusion lag having massive buff, the affected units will continuously shooting reflective attack effect and cause a huge lag.
I have a video that is something similar.
Starcraft 2 Tyrannozor + Diffusion Mutation +Trains =TOTAL LAGFEST (0:13 ~ 0:52)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxNR2_E2V7U&feature=youtu.be
(Strangely, the Massive buff needle seem to respond to the sheer numbers needles in Spike Barrage rather than just “1” effect)
Maybe a simple solution the devs could implement would be to reset his deep tunnel cooldown when he reappears, if it was on cooldown.
That way you could always tunnel him to where you need him.
Dehaka’s shared buffs are:
- air unit devoured - +2 weapon range
- armored unit devoured - +30% damage against armored enemies
- biological unit devoured - heals nearby units (didn’t care how much)
- light unit devoured - +30% move speed
- massive unit devoured - +3 armor + thorn aura
- mech unit devoured - +30% attack speed
- psionic unit devoured - cooldowns are faster (they display the same timer but it ticks down faster)

Thank you KHax. Appreciate it.
All of Dehaka’s Prestige seemed great to me. The only change I’d make is for Broodbrother, they should probably share essence and EXP level instead of it being separate.
I thought of that too but that would make Dehaka very easy to level up in the early state and he becomes really overpowered in late stages.
I think the developers wanted “high risk and high return” approach, Double the risk but double the power.
If they can share essence by half, when you can easily avoid the penalty by leaving brother dehaka safe in the base and have other levelling up, the developers know that and doesn’t want that.
Devouring One
This one is my favorite. The ability to buff army in various ways coupled with buffed mutation mastery it pretty fun. The loss of fire breath and 4 levels is not that bad. Between Leap and Psychic explosions Dehaka has enough AoE and the other 3 levels come from skipping healing aura because you can always consume biological units to heal your army.
Primal Contender
Haven’t tried this one. Don’t see a point. Pack leaders are already strong enough.
Broodbrother
Some people really like it. I’m not one of them. Dehaka and his brother have to split essense so you get two weaker heros AND 35% less HP AND both die if one dies. Solo Dehaka is superior in my opinion. Less micro and you get more powerful hero sooner.
Brohaka is definitely stronger. I can now solo most brutal missions with it. Most of dehaka’s power come from his abilities, not his raw stats. Having two lets you chain-stun with roar, eat a psionic and a boss unit for late game waves, and gives you more power in the early game for creeping. Dehaka’s early game relies almost entirely on hero use since all his good units come out quite late (mutas, guard, tyran, creepers) so having two helps tremendously.
It raises the skill ceiling and floor on how you need to play but also the potential power level. Once dehaka hits level 6 and has all his core abilities, hes very strong if microed well. The only thing thats arguably worse is vs scourges since they can more easily focus down one dehaka. But reviving is cheap and you should always be overbuilding drones, so whatever. Sharing exp would make life easier, but this is already one of the strongest commanders in brute strength and doesn’t need more help.
