Data on how much data this game eats up?

Is exceeding data caps something you’d need to be concerned about? If someone plays for say, 2 hours a day, what would the monthly usage be?

I’ve played co-op a couple of times on mobile data - the consumption is next to nothing, on the scale of several MB per mission

Sounds about right. When I first saw replay files, I was shocked that they were a mere few hundred KB each!

Since we were able to play SC1 on dial-up, SC2 can be played pretty well on good signal wifi and there isn’t a bunch of game content on SC2 that is being streamed (given the downloads and processor activity on each player’s computer), it seems like it should be basically the equivalent of a time sync, keystrokes and mouse movements being sent back and forth. I think probably latency and stability are the most important factors in gameplay. So the game isn’t using a ton if data but it needs a very reliable stream of data to work.

It’s very small. I noticed that my data usage is less than watching youtube video the same length.

Didn’t even know people played this on a mobile?

When (if I ever again) travel for work I often use mobile for sc2 instead of hotel wifi. Oddly enough I find the free wifi at mid-range hotels (like a hampton inn in the US) to be far more gamer friendly than the paid wifi at expensive downtown hotels. So mobile often ends up being a better choice.

How is that even possible?

At 2 hours/day I suspect you need to worry more about how often Blizzard deploys new versions. Downloading those updates may make you cry.

use a mobile hotspot to connect your PC to the internet

I do. My home broadband quality sucks to play any SC2 game reliably without drops. I always use mobile data to play and does not notice any crazy data usage at all.

I’m so surprised at how many people do this.

Looks like bad internet providers are everywhere huh.

I feel y’alls pain.

Ironically, that made me realize I haven’t had those games with the 60s countdown before the other player get kicked out, for a while, and at the same time explains one of the reasons it would happen in the first place.

The US is generally “behind the times”. What we have now is what S. Korea had 5 to 10 years ago, and what Japan had 10 to 15 years ago. And this was as of last decade. It’s possible the gap has widened even more.

Go figure why LAN and competitive online PC gaming took off so well in Korea. One guy who spent 6 months in Korea commented on his blog that he’s on top of a mountain, but still gets wifi!

.

Worst case of internet (besides having outages) was I stayed at a Crossland Economy Studios motel for job. No wired connection, so I purchased a USB wifi dongle for my desktop. The complimentary internet was gawd awful. 99% of the time, YouTube wouldn’t work, and even when it did, it was reduced it to 140p (I didn’t even know it went that low)! I could do a few things like browse sites and check email, but that was about it. Thank goodness I had plenty of computer games that worked offline.

Looking back, I guess I could’ve paid the extra $5 to $10 per month for their premium internet (they say you’ll want this if doing video conferencing), but I wasn’t there for long anyways.

Are you just trolling or did my previous comments confused you or offended you?

What is so shocking about my personal surprise that people used mobile for sc2? Even if it was the wrong interpretation, what is the point to keep pressing this?

it is a joke about the insanity that is SC2’s forum.
I hinted that everything insane on here is your handy work because you sell “Gud ****” for everyone on here.

I originally want to go with “Yes please” but it was too plain.
I then try to get sexual but it was too cringy.
and then I remember that since this is a SC2 forum, I might as well borrow this opportunity to make a joke about this forum and everything is your fault because of your drug.
