Cure now has a higher Glicko ranking than Maru

Cure’s that dude who has had 7k mmr on KR for forever - you know, 300 MMR higher than serral. His Glicko rating on Aligulac just bypassed Maru’s:

Maru: 2955
Cure: 2972

Cure also has similar vs T / vs P / vs Z, unlike Maru who, like Byun, had amazing vs Z and horrible vs P:

Maru:

  • 2815 vs P
  • 2920 vs T.
  • 3129 vs Z (LOL gotta love proxy 2 rax).

Cure:

  • 2954 vs P
  • 2984 vs T
  • 2978 vs Z

Keep an eye out for this guy - I have a feeling he’s the next bonjwa of SC2. Innovation is still crazy good (certainly better than maru) but he’s getting old for a pro gamer. Taeja, Bomber and DRG are back (some of the top players from HotS), so keep an eye out for them, too. Taeja has said he wants to win Code S this year and he’s the guy who was the only Terran to win premier tournaments during the Blink Allin era when Protoss was ludicrously OP vs Terran.

I love how he plays bio WM vs Z. And bio lib vs mech in TvT And can win with god like multitasking and micro … true terran style and joy to watch … Bdw clem is getting better too …

Cure is sick, and has been code s ro32 tier player since 2013
He is sick, and arguably the best terran ONLINE atm, but he just doesnt have it in lan to solidify it, maybe its nerves, who knows
On the other hand Maru is just better, he is a top tier player also since 2013 and also capable of winning tournaments
I know you just hate maru, but overall he is still the best terran

I think it may be Innovation, now. Maru can excel when Terran is at a disadvantage due to his creative and downright abusive style. Innovation can only thrive when his mechanics can shine (or when Terran is on par or advantaged with Zerg and Protoss counterparts).

Not what he asked. Stop trying to build a straw man. We know Serral is better than Maru, the only player better than Serral has ever been Innovation, and then, never consistently.

Sure it is. He said maru is the best terran but maru has never beaten serral. Innovation has not only beaten him but has a positive winrate vs him. Innovation has been a top terran his entire career, maru only when proxies were OP.

Maru was able to excel when no one was winning anything as Terran.

That makes him impressive.

Maru also shined in HotS.

I am sure if you zoom far enough back, you could find a game where maru lost to a gold league player.

Then where is he now? Tournament after tournament he bombs. He only did well when proxies were at their peak.

How so? Just because you want something to be true doesn’t mean that it is - you actually need evidence. You know, the thing you believe in has to be real. Maru’s performance has tanked since he had proxies. Before the proxies it had been 2 years since his previous tournament win. His rank is going down and is being surpassed by other players (one who is terran, so you can’t complain about balance).

Oh yea 2017 is so far. You should have said “Maru has never beaten Serral since t he last 2 month or so”. It doesn’t suit your narative ?

Only terran in ro4 lst gsl, only terran ro8 blizzcon. Didn’t know that winning a gsl is “bad”.

well, tbf, you can clearly say, that maru lost his dominance at the end of 2019. this doesnt mean, that hes bad or so, nono, hes still a top3 terran atm (i would say inno + cure atm are above him).

but as far as results go, he only has one gsl win in 2019 and a 3/4th place at gsl s3. both are really good, dont get me wrong, but on the same page, he had really bad results at gsl vs the world, gsl super tournament 1 and 2 and gsl season 2.

so he still a top terran, but he has very unstable results in tournaments. this is btw the reason, why we never had a maru vs serral match (outside of iem, which is almost 3 years ago). maru never made it far enough in a tournament to meet serral. but tbh, right now, serral would rape maru.

There is reason we dont see many T and P people on top nowadays. And sudden increase of ZvZ finals may be part of that reason.

Maru won when no terran could. Serral wins when every Zerg can.

One is more impressive than the other.

Yes Cure is a ladder boss. But so is Zest and a ton of other top players that don’t win tournaments (anymore). Being good at ladder is a good thing, don’t get me wrong, but being top in ladder does not necessarily translate into tourney results.
