If the coop team added mod support to coop, it would fix the problem of no more content. Some of the longest lived RTSs are that way due to mod support, such as command and conquer generals and forged alliance forever. I’d also love to try some of dehakaburger’s ideas in games.
SC2 map editor is your friend
But blizzard gives 0 support to it, at most people can upload their maps to the arcade, it’s like they don’t want their game to live, which is actually logic, many companies don’t want their games to live for long so people keep buying the new games.
If only they would lol.
Imagine if we had a Mental Omega type mod for Starcraft 2. Would be so epic.
In Business perspective that is logical and Co-op did went for a long time.
Too bad it still doesn’t fulfilled its full potential, there are so many maps, commanders and units that are left as concepts.
But at the very least, they could fix some simple lags time to time yeah?
You could even resolve the problem of unused characters as modders would add their own. It would require a bit of work but would pay dividends. I also think it would be funny if someone replaced the train models with Thomas the tank engine.
Which is also why game companies are chasing live service styles and the like so aggressively, trying to get that precious recurrent revenue. (Partly the reason for always online as well)
Of course the obnoxious thing is for those still playing SC2, Acti-Blizz doesn’t exactly have a good substitute for them to jump to so it’s real loss for us and no real gain for them.
Mod support would have been good, though I do feel the balance side of things is generally tenuous outside the best of creators though.
