Been wondering quite some time, why sometimes I assigned stuff to a group that I never wanted and ever clicked again with my keyboard, here is the reason:
I had Groups UNCLICKABLE groups option , of course, because I use my hotkey, and don’t want to accidentally click on a hotkey with my mouse when there is a Marine Zerg or High-Templar just above that group symbol that I want to select with my mouse.
BUT those groups are still assignable. Thus when you do a simple RIGHTCLICK (see all these simple assignments by choosing “normal” and hovering over your group), suddenly you have Queens where your Hatch Hotkey is…
NOW nice there is the unassignable group option - working as intended - however then the groups will become clickable again… sigh Why don’t you make this option the ultimate: not interactable one instead?
This is what I was expecting when choosing this option:
Unassignable + unclickable (basically the advancement of the previous options)
Of course there is “invisible group option”, but actually I want to see my control groups (helps probable miss-assignments, helps early game (are all groups hot-keyed?), helps to remember drop-groups, or similar. Hence “invisible” is not the solution or thing I want, and probably very understandable by the developer who put so much design into showing the groups…
The game really needs: unclickable+unassignable (or simply the current, unassignable having, that from my perspective)
Thanks for reading.
Edit - Update2022-01:
Been trying some sc2 due to corona since december 2021 again, and found it’s in the game now working. (on a new account if that matters) Contrary to what it was before (tried both settings).
A Thanks to any dev reading this.
Overall sc2 really got so many improvements in the past until now, IMO it’s an extraordinary well designed game now.
(from custom hotkeys…, many helpful options… [be it for new players/tutorials or advanced players that don’t want to accidentally click stuff like turn-off-notifications, and so many more options…],
and a really well designed gameplay now [OP units yes, but the races not and feel really well in total])
A good template for future RTS of blizzard I hope.
BTW: All written above.
