Commander Concept: Selendis

Selendis would be a true SkyToss commander, leading the Golden Armada from a MotherShip.

Hero Unit: Purifier/Purifier Core:
Selendis would pilot an Elite MotherShip or MotherShip Core, with the ability to summon an escort, teleport forces, and unleash the Planet Cracker Beam.
Stats:
Purifier Core:
150 HP, 150 Shields, 200 Energy.
Purifier: 350 HP, 350 Shields, 300 Energy.
Respawn Time: 80 Seconds.
DETECTOR.

Abilities:

  • Warp In Escort:
    Cost: 50 Energy, Mins and Gas depend on Level.
    Warps in Escort Ships to follow the Purifier/Purifier Core, starting with 2 Escort Scouts with a cost of 200 Mins, 75 Gas, 75 Energy, and 6 seconds.
    Escort Scouts have slightly less HP and Shields than normal, and only use their Photon Blasters, but can target Air with them.
    Cost increases by 50 Mins, 50 Gas, and 25 Energy per level.
    The second escort level replaces the Scouts with (Campaign Version)Void Rays, albeit with 50 less HP.
    The third level adds an Arbiter into the Escort, following in-between the Void Rays, although instead of Cloaking, it provides Shield Regeneration, and cannot use Stasis or Recall, the Arbiter is also a Detector.
    The Fourth escort level adds Tempests that deal Splash Damage with Versus Range, and requires the Purifier Core to Upgrade into a Purifier.
    The Fifth and Final Level of Warp In Escort adds Carriers that can store 10 Interceptors.
    Escorts Revive every 30 Seconds.

    Warp In Escort
    Warps In 2 Scouts to Escort the Purifier Core. Scouts have 100 Health and 100 Shields. Scouts cannot be Commanded Directly.
    60 Second Cooldown.

  • Recall(Core):
    100 Energy.
    Teleports the Purifier Core and it’s Escort to the target allied Structure.
    cannot target structures Infested by Stukov.
    30 Second Cooldown.

  • Mass Recall(Purifier):
    100 Energy.
    Teleports the Purifier and surrounding Allied Units in a wide area to the target location.
    Requires Vision of the Target Location.
    30 Second Cooldown.

  • Upgrade to Purifier:
    150 Energy, 500 Minerals, 350 Gas, 15 seconds.
    Upgrades the Purifier Core into a Purifier, gaining 100 Health, 100 Shields, and 100 Max Energy, and unlocking the Planet Cracker Ability.
    5 Minute Cooldown from start of the Mission.

  • Planet Cracker(Purifier):
    150 Energy, 10 seconds.
    After Charging for 3 Seconds, Unleash a devastating Beam Of Death in a wide area below the Purifier, dealing 500 Damage over 7 seconds.
    3 Minute Cooldown.

  • Nexus, Pylon, Assimilator, Photon Cannon:
    No change for these, except the Purifier(Core) Warps In above the Nexus.

  • GateWay: Ground Unit Production Facility. Can Warp In Adepts, Sentries, Avengers, and Strikers(Unique Unit.) Can Upgrade into a Warp Gate.

  • Cybernetics Forge: Unlocks Sentries and Strikers at the Gateway. Can upgrade the Weapons, Armor and Shields of all of Selendis’s Units. Can research an Upgrade for Gateways.

  • Twilight Council: Contains Upgrades for Adepts, Sentries, and Strikers.
    .

  • Golden Shrine: Unlocks the Avenger at the Gateway. Contains an upgrade for Avengers, allowing them to Dash to their targets and steal health from them.
    .

  • Stargate: Air Unit Production Facility. Can Warp In Pheonix, Scouts, LightBringers, Tempests, and Carriers.
    .

  • Fleet Beacon: Unlocks Carriers and Tempests at the Stargate. Contains Upgrades for Scouts, Pheonix, LightBringers, Carriers, and Tempests.

Units:

  • Adept: Versus version of the Adept, costs 125 Minerals. Can be Upgraded to Attack faster and have longer Range.

  • Sentry: Support Unit. Restores Shields of nearby Units. Can be Upgraded to Restore the Shields of 2 Units at once, and use Guardian Shield.

  • Striker: Stalker Variant. Can use Weapon Overcharge to increase Attack Speed and Damage, but reduce Movement Speed.

  • Avenger: Dark Templar Variant. Can be Upgraded to use Shadow Dash. Permanently Cloaked.
    .
  • Pheonix: It’s just the Campaign Variant of the Pheonix. Can be Upgraded for increased Range and the ability to Fire While Moving.

  • Escort Scout: Same Stats as the Escort Scouts summoned by the Purifier.
    .
  • LightBringer: Assault ship. Reduces the armor of targets the longer it remains locked on to a target. Can be Upgraded to Fire While Moving.

  • Tempest: Capital Siege Ship. Attacks From long range. Can be Upgraded to deal Splash Damage and deal more Damage.
    .
  • Carrier: Capital Ship. Builds Interceptors to attack targets. Can be Upgraded to store more Interceptors and build them faster.

Upgrades:

  • Khaydarin Focusers:
    Increases the Range of Pheonix and Escort Scouts by 2, and allows Pheonix and LightBringers to Fire While Moving. Researched at the Fleet Beacon.

  • Support Bays: Allows Carriers to store 2 more Interceptors, and Build them 2 seconds Faster. Researched at the Fleet Beacon.

  • Kinetic Overcharge: Tempests deal 10 more Damage, and deal Splash Damage in a small radius. Researched at the Fleet Beacon.

  • Shadow Dash: Allows Avengers to use Shadow Dash to Dash to enemies, dealing 60 Damage and Restoring Shields equal to the Damage dealt.

  • Resonating Glaives: Adepts attack 40% faster and have 1 more Range.
    .
  • Guardian Protocol: Sentries can cast Restore on two allied Units at once. Allows Sentries to use Guardian Shield.
    .
  • Weapon Overcharge: Allows Strikers to use the Weapon Overcharge ability. Weapon Overcharge grants 40% faster Attack Speed to Strikers for 5 seconds, but Slows their Movement Speed by 60% while active. 20 Second Cooldown.

  • Warp Gate: Allows GateWays to Transform into Warp Gates.

  • Protoss Weapon Upgrade: Upgrades the Damage of all Protoss Units.

  • Protoss Armor Upgrade: Upgrades the Armor of all Protoss Units.

  • Protoss Shield Upgrade: Upgrades the Shields of all Protoss Units.

All of Selendis’s Units use the Golden Age skins.

I chose Adepts because of their “For Selendis!” Voice Line. (Arty’s Zealots say “For Artanis!” so…)

Mastery:

  • Power Set 1: Purifier/Purifier Core MoveSpeed(0.7% per level.) vs Purifier/Purifier Core Attack Speed(1% per level.)
  • Power Set 2: Stargate Unit Warp Speed(0.6% per level.) vs Research Speed(1% per level.)
  • Power Set 3: Planet Cracker Duration(1% per level.) vs Unit Shields Improvement(2% per level.)

Levels:

  • 1: Might of the Armada: Selendis leads the Golden Armada from the Purifier Core. Adepts cost no gas.
  • 2: Purification: The Purifier Core can upgrade into the Purifier.
  • 3: Phase Cannons: The Purifier’s Attacks Slow Enemy Attack Speed by 15%.
    Not sure for the other levels.

The Purifier is destroyed already and the name sound too Purifier-ish. May be let her commandeer ‘The Shield of Aiur’ and the core will be ‘The Unity’

I think she should get Zealots. Selendis herself is a Zealot. Golden Age skins would be perfect.

I think using the Psi-Link Spire from Heart of the Swarm would be fitting unique structure for her. maybe it could allow her free reinforcements.

While I like the idea of the “Striker” it would seem needless if we get Adepts. Adepts fit Selendis too well to replace them anyway in my opinion. I would replace Void Ray with a Templar variant. I’ve seen people call it a “Warp Ray” but a different name would be fine. Not sure what the unique ability would be but it would need it.

The Avenger should get a new ability since Vorazun’s Dark Templar has the revive/retreat ability.

What would be really cool in my opinion would be if Selendis (Zealot) was on the field herself. I love using Hero units and none more than the characters themselves. Selendis never got to be playable in Legacy of he Void’s campaign. She may have had the Carrier in Wing’s of Liberty but I would have wanted her as a Zealot after she freed herself.

That’s… not a lot. At all. Mothership in VS has 350 hp and 350 shields. Alarak’s has 1000/1000.

Taking ZealousGamer’s suggestion for psi link spire: spires greatly increase mothership’s shields and slightly increases energy regen. Stacks up to 5 times. They can be built outside of power fields, and generate one themselves. Cost 500/100, 45 sec.

Additionally, when recall is used on a psi link spire, it fully restores the MS core’s energy. Same applies to mass recall if MS teleports within the power field of a psi link spire.

Escort "levels?"

How do you upgrade your escort level? Is it an ability? Is it tied to tech level? (Maybe level 2 requires cyber forge, level 3 stargate, level 4 twilight council, level 5 fleet beacon?)

Voidray/warpray/lightbringer ability

Instead of charging up to deal more damage, charges up to remove armor on targets. (-0, -3, then -6 armor, similar to void ray’s +0, +3, then +6 damage). Does not stack. Synergy with carriers and MS and better than standard void rays vs light units.

Level Ideas

Level 1: Fleet of the Executor: Adepts and scouts cost no gas and have increased shields. Adepts do not require cybernetics forge. Carriers and tempests warp in quicker
Level 2: Purifier: Allows purifier core to upgrade into purifier.
Idk about levels so here are a bunch of ideas:

  • Stargates cost 50 gas and warp in 25% quicker
  • MS & MS core auto attacks slow enemies in a small area
  • Pylons provide additional supply
  • Planet cracker leaves fire on the ground and/or slows enemies
  • MS & MS core take reduced damage while casting abilities
  • MS provides a power field constantly

Escort Upgrade is an ability. Maybe I could’ve phrased it better, but the level goes up when you use the ability.

I noticed you don’t have a unit for detection. Maybe either the Observer or a Templar variant of the Oracle would work?

Something else came to mind; Nova’s Ghosts come in pairs of both male and female. Why not have Selendis’s Zealots be female? Or maybe her Avengers?

Another thing you could add is have 2 Probes build in her Nexus at the same time. No Protoss has that ability yet.

Vorazun’s DTs have Revive too? Wow, they really got everything. But Avengers would have more Health and Shields, so I think it would be ok.

You want her to have Zealots, but think Adepts fit her too well to be replaced?

And Strikers would be her go-to Ground to Air Unit, because Adepts would only be able to shoot Ground Units.

Yeah, Vorazun has all the abilities of Cloak warriors from the campaign. May be something like ‘Psionic siphoning’, Avenger restore shield equal to the damage they deal. Also give them like an ability to instantaneously blink to their enemies (autocast).

having both tempests and carriers makes little sense for co-op. no other co-op commanders have 2 large ships.

The Tempest and The Carrier have two different roles. Carriers are good for charging in, distracting enemies, and taking shots. Tempests, on the other hand, are good for picking away at enemies from a distance. The two work well together, with Carriers distracting so Tempests can do their work.

And as for being new and unheard of, isn’t that what we want for new Commanders?

You could argue that HH drone hanger galleons and sovereign BCs are 2 capital ship-like units. Both supply heavy. Both require fusion core.

Well, level 4 is always a twilight council upgrade cache, and fleet beacon upgrade caches are between levels 12 and 14. Lvl 4 could also include the avenger upgrade, since it only has 1 and is still a gateway unit.
Level 5 is usually a decent power spike or a new unit. Have that unlock planet cracker or tempest or something.
Level 10 is almost always a huge power spike (raynor vanadium plating, vora time stop, zera chronomancy, etc).

It’s worth noting, like zealousgamer said, that you have no detection as of now. Purifier should have detection probably, but anything before then? Have the escort arbiter be a detector? Also, you don’t have any real rock clear option. Cannon expand won’t be viable, since it’s locked behind cyber forge, gateway units won’t do great damage vs rocks, and purifier core will spawn at 4 minutes (like most heroes).
