[Commander Concept] - Aldaris

Aldaris leverages the might of the Conclave and his authority within it to crush enemies with waves of Protoss warriors chosen from the three Castes of the Protoss Empire.

Innate Talents

  • Aldaris’ Pylons have 50% increased radius and sight and provide 100% more supply.
  • Psionic Matrix - allied Protoss units fighting within a power field have +25% increased attack speed, movement speed, and energy regeneration
  • Path of Ascension - Aldaris’ combat units have 33% less HP and shields, but cost 25% less resources to build and build 20% faster.

Units - Zealot (Charge), Dragoon (Singularity Charge), Scout (Apial Sensors), Observer (warped in at Stargate, Aldaris cannot build Robotics Facilities), Arbiter

Khalai Spirit - when Aldaris’ Zealots die in combat, they leave behind a beacon. For a small resource cost, the player can use this beacon to resurrect the Zealot as a Dragoon, which quickly warps in to continue the fight. An upgrade researched from the Conclave Tribunal, “Emboldened Spirit”, lets players resurrect fallen Zealots as either Dragoons or Immortals, and also allows destroyed Scouts to be resurrected as Phoenixes. Though the might of the Conclave may wane, its will is absolute and will never be broken.

Note that the resurrection ability appears in the command card of Zealots and Scouts and can be set to auto-cast, in which case they will revive a few seconds after being killed. The Dragoon and Immortal choices are mutually exclusive, setting one to autocast will disable the other.

Arbiter - As a Judicator, Aldaris’ playstyle makes heavy use of Arbiters. Warped in at the Stargate (automatically unlocked), Arbiters are still not much for frontline combat, but provide terrific support. Arbiters can use Shield Recharge to quickly restore the shields of up to three nearby allies, and Statis Warp immobilizes enemies for a short period of time, during which they take 50% damage and have no collision, allowing units to pass through them.

However, the Arbiter’s true power is its heart, like any true Protoss. The upgrade Khaydarin Core enhances the Arbiter to project a power field around it, allowing Aldaris to warp in reinforcements in the heat of battle, and conferring all the benefits of being within a power field unto them: increased attack speed, movement speed, energy regeneration, and shield regeneration. Aldaris’ Judicators ensure that his forces will never stray too far from the Khala’s light, and his enemies will not hide from it.

Unique Structure - Conclave Tribunal

Aldaris begins each mission with the Conclave Tribunal built. The Conclave Tribunal can warp in members of the Khalai, Templar, and Judicator Castes, each of which has variable costs to bring down. The Tribunal is also where upgrades for the castes are researched, once the appropriate tech structure is built. Caste members are summoned through the topbar and are permanent additions to Aldaris’ army. They provide invaluable support, but cost a lot of resources and supply. Aldaris will have to be picky on how many of them he can field to best support his chosen army composition and the opposition they face.

Khalai Caste

  • Requires Gateway
  • Summons two Furinax Phasesmiths (Karax). Phasesmiths have poor offensive stats, but can heal damaged mechanical units and increase their attack speed with a targeted ability. Upon building a Twilight Council, the calldown also summons two Venatir Apothecaries (Purifer model), which can heal damaged biological units and remove negative effects from them.

Templar Caste

  • Requires Cybernetics Core
  • Summons four Velari Cossacks (Zealots). Cossacks increase the movement speed of nearby allied units within a radius, and can use a Leaping Charge that propels them through the air to strike and stuns enemies on impact. Upon building a Stargate, the calldown also summons two Auriga Magi (Carriers), who have an Interceptor stock of 12 that rebuild at no cost, and increase the attack range of ranged units in a radius.

Judicator Caste

  • Requires Templar Archives
  • Summons two Shelak Preservers (High Templar). Preservers can use Psionic Tempest, which prevents enemy units in the area of effect from using abilities and damages their energy as well as HP. Upon building a Fleet Beacon, the calldown also summons an Ara Inquisitor (Arbiter) which can use Stasis Field, Cloaking Field, and Matrix Recall (recalls the Inquisitor and units within range to an allied power field) in addition to the base Inquisitor’s abilities.

With these traits, Aldaris is intended to be a commander focused on constant frontline aggression, but instead of just attack-moving with some minor micro like Artanis, he wants to supplement his armies with his limited amount of Caste units to make up for their weaker presence on the battlefield. His units are more disposable than other Protoss commanders, and he has to leverage his Arbiters and his Caste units to support them so they can pull their weight, similar to Mengsk’s playstyle with Troopers and Imperial Guard.

Because his Caste calldowns are so pivotal to supporting his army, and require upgrades at the Judicator Tribunal to unlock their full potential as well as tech structures to allow those upgrades, Aldaris needs time to build up his forces and call in the right leaders to command them in battle, but can leverage more momentum in the early game by dedicating himself to a more focused unit composition and specific Caste members.

Come the late game, Aldaris will be fielding a large army of Protoss warriors - with Khalai phasesmiths and apothecaries healing them, Cossacks and Magi leading them, and Grand Templar and Inquisitors providing support skills and a power field to warp in reinforcements, he’ll be ready to show Amon’s forces the power of the lost Protoss Empire, and why they once almost ruled the galaxy.

Talents

#1

  • Caste Supply Cost - Reduces the supply cost to warp in Caste support (2% per level, up to 60%)
  • Caste Resource Cost - Reduces the resource cost to warp in Caste support (1.3% per level, up to 40%)

#2

  • Arbiter Energy and Shields Regen - Increase the regeneration of energy and shields for Arbiters (2% per level, up to 60%)
  • Upgrade Cost and Research Time - Reduce the cost and time of researching all upgrades, including weapons/armor/shields and the Caste upgrades (1% per level, up to 30%)

#3

  • Power Field Efficiency - Increase the stat buffs of power fields on allied units (+1% per level, up to 30%. Additive to base percentage, total 55% buff)
  • Power Field Radius - Increase the radius of power fields projected by Pylons and Arbiters (1.5% per level)

Prestiges

Enlightened Shophet

  • Advantage: Aldaris’ Caste calldowns have 100% increased HP and Shields and 50% increased damage. Preservers and Arbiters have 50% increased energy regeneration and maximum energy.
  • Disadvantage: Emboldened Spirit research unavailable.

This Prestige nudges Aldaris to quantity over quality. Without Emboldened Spirit to allow Scouts to resurrect and no access to Immortals, his standing forces are considerably weaker. He must leverage more power out of his Caste calldowns, which are stronger than ever and can more reliably win fights on their own. His army will be slower to build and fragile in the early game, but in the lategame once he has his forces fully upgraded and the resources to bring down Caste support and warp in new units with impunity, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

Heretic’s Conspirator

  • Advantage: Aldaris’ ground forces have +50% increased HP, Shields, and damage.
  • Disadvantage: Aldaris cannot construct Arbiters. Caste calldowns have 30% increased supply and resource cost.

This Prestige focuses Aldaris’ unit composition on his standing forces, who are much more powerful than before and slightly superior to their standard counterparts. However, they will not have as many Caste allies to support them, and Aldaris will have to consider which ones to call in more carefully due to their increased cost - his ground forces will still want healing from Phasesmiths and Apothecaries, Cossacks and Magi for combat support, and Preservers and Inquisitors for burst damage and disabling enemies. The lack of Arbiters from Stargates will force Aldaris to rely on Inquisitors from his calldown to have access to Arbiter support, and Inquisitors must be protected because their presence is more valuable than ever, in more ways than one.

Oath of Resolution

  • Advantage: +50% Shield regeneration rate for all allied units and structures, units can regenerate shields during combat. Resource cost to revive fallen units reduced by 50%.
  • Disadvantage: Khaydarin Core upgrade disabled. Matrix Recall disabled.

This Prestige makes Aldaris’ army even hardier in battle. With their heighted shield regeneration and ability to regen while fighting, they will be able to fight longer and further, and get back into the fight easier with the discount to revive his Zealots and Scouts. However, without the Arbiter’s Khaydarin Core upgrade, Aldaris will not have a means to provide a power field on the front lines (at least, not without a Protoss ally’s help  ), so his forces will lack their stat buffs from it and they cannot be reinforced or recalled. If the tide turns against them, retreat is not an option.

maybe an interesting idea if activision had cared to provide blizzard some money to develop new stuff. activision is even firing blizzard`s support staff now. support questions have to be directed to activision.

Necromancy because OP was expanded with further details, including Talents and Prestiges.

Maybe Nexus Coop will notice this thread and adapt my concept, can hope
