Come up with your own cancerous mutator

What if you could design your own “fun” mutations in keeping with the likes of ‘Fatal attraction’, ‘Polarity’, ‘Vertigo’, and other community favourites? Here are a few ideas:

  • Enabled friendly fire for all abilities, AOE damage, call downs, and summons
  • Enemies release blinding cloud on death
  • Every 20 seconds, mouse X and/or Y orientation is reversed and hotkeys are scrambled
  • Microtransactions+ – commands cost supply; supply count increases with each command and decays over time
  • Microtransactions++ – commands cost your ally supply
  • Only receive line of sight from your ally’s units, not your own
  • Every 1-2 minutes, unit ownership between you and your ally is randomized

I’m going to be honest. Thinking of something more painful than Vertigo is actually difficult.

  1. User Interface is entirely disabled
  2. You and your ally share camera
  3. Every 20 seconds, all units and structures attack nearest target for 10 seconds, whether they are friend or foe. They cannot be controlled during this period
  4. Every minute, 30% (rounded up) of one random type of unit per player joins the enemy’s side. Heroic units are not immune. If there are no units, then workers are targeted.
  5. Every minute, all production and structures are halted and disabled for 30 seconds.
  6. Idle units and workers take 20% health damage per second
  7. You and your ally share control of all structures, units, and resources (just like archon mode)

–All Davis channel
All announcers and NPC voice lines are replaced with General Davis’ voice

–Cat Invasion
Blizzard delivers a live cat to where you’re sitting that you must juggle while playing a mission

–play like a newbie
Keyboard shortcuts are disabled

–Not-so-microtransactions
You pay real life currency to get boosts for your commander

–workers on strike
enemy forces are sent to periodically harass workers

–no APM for you!
Anytime your APM exceeds 30, you incur a penalty (resources, attack wave, objective is harder, etc.)

#6 would pair well with fatal attraction or mineral shields

  • Big Brother Eye: see everything through a security camera view (darker, black&green, see in campaigns)
  • Within Reach: player units can be targeted even if they are air against anti-ground or ground against anti-air
  • Spatial lottery: once in a while, take the locations of all player and Amon units on the map, then randomize what unit occupy which spot.

Some other ideas I thought of in the past have already been given, more or less :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Some stuff I’ve been cooking up, others I have floating around in my mind.

Hotkeys only, and the inverse as well.

The camera is super blurry.

The Mutator safety zones are removed.

Your starting stuff that isn’t your main base or workers are disabled.

You control your Ally’s camera.

You and your ally are unallied but must work together to win, else you both lose.

Damage recieved by one ally is dealt to the other.

Excess damage dealt is dealt to your forces.

Autocast is turned off on abilities. This one is super insidious.

Why would you want even more tedious and sadistic mutators?

Well, when the commanders toss at you time stops, men with absurd stats and damage that can easily fix up their damage taken, super cloak, literal spin to win, motherships with 2K total HP and absurd damage output before the hero even spawns, an instant kill ability with at most a 60 seconds cooldown, multiple various ways of harassing you from afar or saving their own units, free units and structures that can be spammed en masse, and then they complain that the game is too easy or it’s unfair when amon tries anywhere near the same tricks?

Yeah, I’d want payback.

So you’re Amon. Although if we’re going by that logic you provided above…

To be fair… you have:

  1. Invulnerable units that can’t be killed.
  2. Free units coming out of the whazoo.
  3. Crazy powerful units that literally kills anything.
  4. Units that literally Nukes continuously.
  5. Condition to win a game without having to do anything (unless players work to beat you).
  6. You have multiple hero units.
  7. You control weather phenomenons that no player can ever contest.

Just to name a few… and the logic here is you want more cuz apparently players are overpowered? :stuck_out_tongue: two can play that game.

Course, Maguro did pull back Amon’s power plenty on the 2v1 CoA map I reside. And I get it, usually its on normal and folks might not want to lose on normal, but come on, if you lose on casual somehow(And folks did lose on casual somehow, multiple times), with all the stuff of spin to win and a restriction in the mutators used, not to mention greatly weakened heroic units, yeah, sometimes it’s painful.

Especially when the commanders get the 50% damage reduction on casual, yet complain that it is impossible when their base gets attacked.

Amon’s unit can attack both ground and air units, regardless of the unit type. Gotta make those lings chew Alarak’s ships.

Not sure what to name it, but have one mutator where your own call-down abilities are disabled. ^p^

Hostage Situation: for every unit you lose (except timed units), another random unit of yours dies. Heroes are not excluded.

Elite Staff: every kill gives the unit +5% damage and HP (rounded up to +1), but also increases their price by 5% (rounded up to +1, too).

Oh no you don’t: when an enemy structure dies, it’s gets instantly rebuilt at 50% HP and shields, with 50% energy, and gains 30 seconds of Photon Overcharge. If the structure is standing after the Overcharge expires, it can get rebuilt again.

Nostalgia: your income gets taxed by 1% for every 2 supply you use after 50 supply.

Mile in their shoes: units and structures cannot be given more than 1 command per second.

With friends like these: for every unit gathering from the same patch, they take home 1 resource less. The patch still loses the full amount.

Fiendfyre: units and buildings set on fire are never extinguished.

Personal Equipment: only units in the vicinity of the upgrade building are upgraded and upgrade costs depend on the number of units in the area. On the plus side, the upgrades are instantaneous.

Mooneye: after the unit or building is hit by an AoE, its detection range drops 50%. Sight range is not affected.

Market is crazy: What’s supposed to cost minerals costs gas, and in reverse. You’re given gas at the beginning to create gas harvesting structures

It’s a new world: brick the gpu

Is this working?: 30% of the commands don’t register

No offense: units cannot be given the command to atack(they will attack what enters their range, but they have to be stopped first. Ofc, f2A wouldn’t work)

Forced retaliation: units cannot be given move commands for 2 seconds after opening fire.

Berserker: units constantly lose hp from the first time they open fire(can die), but they gain as much dmg as the % of hp lost.

Defection: one in every 3 units produced of the same type is teleported to amon’s base and becomes an enemy unit(it will take every 2nd hero for tychus). Scvs are subject to this as well.

Whirlpool: camera slowly rotates continuously, changing direction randomly, minimap rotates the opposite way.

Bad intel:enemy units including attack waves appear in wrong locations on the minimap.

Kinder surprise: every building destroyed will spawn “broodlings” (as if they were zerg), however they’re a random mix of banelings and ultralisks if destroyed by ground unit, or scourges if attacked by air.

Have a present: friendly units have a low chance of becoming nuclear upon taking damage. They will give the same indication as if targeted by a seeker missle and detonate after 10s.

Dampening field: units are gradually slowed down the closer they get to enemy comand centers(up to 80%, fire rate is NOT affected). This is effective all over the map, except within the mutator safezone. Dampening fields from multiple command centers do not stack, the strongest effect takes priority.

Low budget gaming: limit game to 10 fps.

Cry wolf: randomly ping units and announce that you or your ally is under attack. Nuclear launches also are announced randomly when playing against terran.

Stop nagging me: keep asking for more supply every few commands.

Fake News: Anything you type and send to your ally is intercepted by Amon and he distorts the message before sending it to your ally.

Doge: Multiple doges are spawned at the start of the game. Every time one of them successfully bonks one of your units, the unit turns against you.

The Greg Black affect. You must live as Greg Black for a day. Being a fat loser with no job.

1.) The Great Depression: Units are idle every 20 first seconds of the minute and have to be manually assigned to their work again, after they recover.

2.) Stockholm Syndrome: When Amon kills a unite, it becomes one of his units and starts to fight u. Also applies to heroes.

3.) Poisoned gifts: Mineral patches sometimes become red. Every mineral mined from a red patch reduces your income by the amount of minerals mined. Red mineral patches change every 20 seconds :smiling_imp:

4.) Password please: Every 30 second you have to type the right code to progress (5-20 characters). If you type in the wrong code you can’t control your units for 30 seconds.

5.) Deaf leading the blind: You only have vision of your co-op-companion’s units and mouse and have to lead him where to build/ which units to make and how to control him. Voicespeak might be necessary here.

Y’all Satans need to calm down. This is exactly why mutators are :poop: lol, cuz people think it’s funny to watch other people suffer from a mutator.

And it is for the first time, then it isn’t. Case and point 50% of the mutators lol.
