Co-Op Mutation #417: Death is Fleeting

Try as you might, the infestation seems all but impossible to kill off. The only hope for the colony now is to wipe out the infestation directly from the source. Destroy the infested structures to cleanse the colony.

Just Die! - Enemy units are automatically revived upon death.
Void Reanimators - Void Reanimators wander the battlefield, bringing your enemies back to life.

Notes:

  • The infested buildings do not revive.
  • The revived infested still burn out during day time.
  • A [Void Reanimator] is a ground unit that walks around the map and instantly revives a single random unit every few seconds.
  • The Void Reanimator has 200HP and 200 shields, runs around without any minimap indicator, and cares not whether you killed an enemy a minute or an hour ago. He will revive it.
  • If at any point in the game, you get a seemingly endless stream of enemies, try searching up their attack path. There are probably 2-3 Void Reanimators there.
  • Up to four [4] Void Reanimators can be active on the map at any given time. If you lock them away somewhere, they will not be able to revive any more units.

If you’re a casual player Just keep queuing until you get Hunterling and Spotters.

Otherwise you really have to kill the Void Reanimators as they spawn.

Most consistent winning pub strategy I could find is P3 Stetmann with Ultras. Even Choker Kaboomer isn’t an issue.

EDIT ~ Seriously though, Void Reanimators should have the same priority as Void Rifts, drop everything to kill them. I’m getting wins for allies with literal pages of losses just because I kill the Void Reanimators.

This mutation requires division, one must defend, the other destroys infested structures both and and night. Recommended commanders:

  • Mengsk P3
  • Karax P1
  • Alarak P3
  • Vorazun P1/P3
  • Stukov P1
  • Swann P1/P2
  • Tychus P2
  • Stetmann P2
  • Zeratul P2/P3
  • Nova P3
  • Dehaka P3
  • Abathur P2
  • Zagara P1

NOTE: DO NOT use Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis due to commander bug.

If one is affected by it. Otherwise, they can be used and will work normally.

#233: Death is Fleeting – 12/18 SOLO CLEAR

Mutators: Just Die, Void Reanimators

https:// youtube.com/shorts/4lThmAW3vRA?feature=share

The hardest mutation of the “red weeks”. IDEF is actually needed here, but if you leave the reanimators alone for too long, you will get overwhelmed. The reanimators will reanimate infested that die as a result of the change from night to day. Use the sensor tower to see where it is doing its work.

Stanks are extremely dangerous with two lives. Ravens and ghosts are also dangerous. Might consider retrying if it’s Terran. Try to kill the ravens inside your base so they don’t get revived easily.

Special infested difficulty (from hardest to easiest): Choker, Kaboomer, Spotter, Hunterling. Hunterlings are melee units, so they are less likely to be revived.

For duos: Nova and Swann

For solo queue: Zeratul, Swann, Karax

Failures [and why I failed]

Dehaka (p3) [gets overwhelmed before end of night 2]

Stukov (p3) [gets overwhelmed before end of night 2]

Zagara (p3) [can’t even cheese because reanimators will eventually get to the hideout]]

Didn’t try with the rest

Successes [and key points]

Alarak (p3) https://youtu.be/hQL0CWt5Pss [2min30 fast mothership]

Karax (p3) https://youtu.be/nKhfYdP2DrM

Kerrigan (p1) https://youtu.be/E55-XF61YWk [lurkers, then air]

Raynor (p3) https://youtu.be/Swzcafvk4Ks [so close…]

Swann (p2) https://youtu.be/LHUg_ECmxcU

Zeratul (p2) https://youtu.be/QB56P8VSUF0

Float cheese

Nova (p3) https://youtu.be/eppposjhWNg [p1 is better at defense, but still… not good enough]

Mengsk (p2) https://youtu.be/ohSrZMiTmdo

HH (p1) https://youtu.be/KRlwEEfxKdw

Zoo

Abathur (p2) https://youtu.be/rXAfWt1meZ4 [abduct reanimators to the high ground]

Stetmann (p3) https://youtu.be/C0YgHRXaTXo [not a traditional zoo; need luck and planning]

Tychus (p2) https://youtu.be/NUARM8S1RIQ [he does what Abathur does]

Questions about any of these runs are welcome. Runs will be uploaded throughout the week.

Challenging, but fun. Just the way I like it. Good mutation week in my opinion.

Did it as Mengsk P3 on the first try, but only because I’ve got EXTREMELY lucky.
Not only I’ve got enemy Protoss, Spotters, Hunterlings and Nydus Worms (which is like the best case scenario), but also my ally was a skilled Swann.
Despite that, we’ve had a lot of work to do.
Swann ally planted lots of Flaming Betties and Blaster Billies, with Siege Tanks behind, and I supported his defensive lines with loaded Supply Bunkers and Shock Divisions. Supply Bunkers with anti-air armed Troopers in particular do wonders against Spotters.
During the day I mobilized the Laborers (that, as always, I kept overproducing) and melted through the enemy bases with the cover of Zerg calldowns. Having overproduced Siege Tanks at home, my ally joined me in day clearing later by transporting them via Herculeses. Naturally, he also helped with his Laser Drill abilities.
To put it short, we did everything we could do best — and still, barely managed to complete the mission having our minerals fully mined out.

If you don’t want a massive headache, then better take Abathur, make Vipers and pull Void Reanimators into a closed gap in between your buildings. More than 4 of them can’t be spawned at the same time, so if you manage to “imprison” 4 of these guys and keep them alive far away from the other enemies, you essentially put this mutator out of equation. That’s exactly how I did this very mutation a couple of years ago, and it’s been a much smoother sailing than this “legit” run I’ve done this week.

Did it 2nd time me as Han & Horner, with a Swann defender. Kinda easy!

H&H helps def with mag mines and snipes reanimators, while teching fast to bombing platforms and then if you aim between buildings to always kill at least two it should be easy to finish by day 4. I used P1 and used the mines to literally target and kill reanimators as well. Don’t be afraid to use top bar defensively, if you go to 8 bombing platforms quick enough it’s not problem to finish the game.

This one didn’t feel as hard as it described. So much, that I have been winning with allies using sub level 10 commanders. Played as Nova, Zagara, Dehaka, and Abathur.

When the resurrections got out of control it really got the game lagging for me.
