Co-Op Mutation #399: League of Vermillains

Emperor Valerian’s enemies have finally arrived, but is it too late? The plan is for enemies to blink around your forces, to trap them for the heroes. Will it work? This reporter can only guess… no.

Heroes from the Storm - Every attack wave will be led by a random Hero of increasing power. Each Objective point is also guarded by three random Heroes.
Evasive Maneuvers - Enemy units teleport a short distance away upon taking damage.

Other notes:

  • Enemy heroes arrive with attack waves that are not in transports.
  • Heroes do not have the ability to blink.
  • The attack wave near 9:00 and 15:00 have lots of heroes, so save your abilities for those.
  • Enemies, including heroes, are immune to lava.
  • The only hero Dehaka can devour is the enemy Dehaka.
  • Enemy heroes do not spawn on transport waves, but get “saved” toward the next walking attack wave.

Mutation overlap 214 this week 2nd

1st clear Tychus P3+Stetmann P2

Mutation (The League of Vermilans) play list

Thank God the current mutation is almost over. I think I will like this mutation combo much better.

This mutation requires awareness, enemy heroes will appear in any minute and that darn reporter Vermillion is annoying our mission when the lava burst is imminent. Recommended commanders:

  • Tychus P2
  • Nova P3
  • Zeratul P2/P3
  • Dehaka P2/P3
  • Artanis P3
  • Vorazun P1-P3
  • Stetmann P2
  • Alarak P3
  • Fenix P2

#214 League of Vermillains – SOLO ALL CLEAR

Mutators: Heroes from the Storm, Evasive Maneuvers

https: //youtube.com/shorts/eW138mEt0Mo?feature=share

https: //youtu.be/_pW4epg8VyI (easy solo - Stetmann)

Be prepared to face lots of heroes. Due to the randomness of this map, you might fight 4 heroes at 8 minutes. You might fight no heroes (except Raynor) until 15 minutes. The later you fight heroes, the more you’ll have to fight back to back.

Save your strong top bars for hero waves rather than clearing areas. Heroes don’t guard crystals, so you can still get them without much resistance.

For duos: two commanders with high firepower (esp in the early game)

For solo queue: Stetmann, Vorazun, Fenix

Successes [and key points]

Kerrigan (p3) https://youtu.be/CScakUKJkyI [immobilization wave clears all the enemies; lings and broodlords fight the heroes]

Mengsk (p3) https://youtu.be/-sXzOY1fCHs [lots and lots of bunkers; ESOs can get free dmg on heroes]

Nova (p1) https://youtu.be/uOuYgnqfNCE [the usual but be good]

Raynor (p3) https://youtu.be/kn6YqvXQUHE [LOTS of spider mines and eventually make battlecruisers]

Tychus (p2) https://youtu.be/oLyjbHnNPcw [good Sam usage]

Vorazun (p3) https://youtu.be/QEcdO_sTWkI [time stop vs heroes; black hole and stasis ward when it’s on cooldown]

Zagara (p0) https://youtu.be/YM7ErvDdnLc [p0 so Frenzy affects lings]

Zeratul (p2) https://youtu.be/6eHrxCQZVtg [trap the artifact, use DTs]

Questions about any of these runs are welcome. Some runs will be uploaded tomorrow or later this week.

Hey, your Swann video is set to private. Now I understand we all want some alone time with the big man, but could you share him a little bit for us lesser folk?

He uploads them piecemeal. Check back here and there and they’ll all be up eventually.

Not as bad as initially thought. I was running P3 Tychus and the teleporting mobs actually helped me in targeting my reaper’s demo charge on the enemy heroes become easier as they would move back exposing the hero when they take damage. Felt a bit sorry for my Alarak ally since I used their forces and the Odin to tank for damage, at one point a Kerrigan + Nova Nuke wiped out almost all of their army but hey they were already walking on thin ice trying the mutation pre-15. If anyone wants to know my Outlaws were: Rattlesnake - Cannonball (misclick should’ve been Nux but still worked out in tanking initial hero spells) - Sam - Nikara.

For Dehaka players I found P2 with mass swarm hosts to be really good here. Mass hosts do great burst damage and allow you to deal large chunks of damage from a distance here.

Annoying but manageable

Karax P1 + Mengsk P3 — LOSS
Base defenses got nuked in one fell swoop, and they just came in and cleaned up our bases.

Karax P1 + Stukov P3 — WIN
This time, I layered by defenses. One at choke, the others further back (2nd layer had 2 different sides). Ally massed Infested Troopers to throw in front of the defenses.

Pushing, still Troopers, but I used OS as needed to thin their numbers, stun them for easier attacking, and to snipe cloaked Wraiths taking pop shots.

Later on, made Carriers and Obs. Great vs. ground comp of Tanks, Vultures, but Gollies were a threat. Also nice for healing since that’s the only way for Karax P1. It was close. Late game, you need to start getting crystals when you have 4 to 2 minutes left!

.

Biggest threat to Karax P1 is nukes from Nova . It’s OK if it’s just a one-off, as Unity Barrier can block it, and regen in 1 minute. However, when Multiple Novas move in at the same time, that’s when you need to get aggressive. Layer your defenses, or throw forces at them. My ally’s P3 Stukov horde did well in that regard.

Stetmann + Dehaka P2 win!
My ally even said that was his first time playing that Mutation! Got surprised at all the crazy stuff going on (like towers spawning out of nowhere), so Super Gary is def. recommended here. Just make sure to keep him safe. I was going against tank, Thor comp, so throwing mass Zergling at them helped as a shield. If Super Gary’s in danger, consider Recalling him away to safety.
