Co-Op Mutation #397: Locked and Loaded

Invulnerable constructs attack your base, killing mercilessly until mysteriously shutting off after a certain amount of blood has been shed. Capture the locks quickly for the sake of your troops.

Kill Bots - Invincible Kill Bots attack your forces until they hit their predetermined kill limit and shut down.
Mineral Shields - Mineral clusters at player bases are periodically encased in a shield which must be destroyed for gathering to continue.
Temporal Field - Enemy Temporal Fields are periodically deployed throughout the map.

Notes:

  • The [Kill Bots] spawn from any enemy building. Clearing the whole map will stop the Bot spawns.
  • The Kill Bots originally appeared in “Violent Night” as Amon’s gift.
  • The more expensive each of your units are, the worse deal you get. If you are Nova or Tychus, for example, it might be worthwhile to produce spare SCVs to feed the bots, if your ally is unable to help.
  • Free units, such as Stukov’s Infested, Zerglings in general, and Stetmann’s Roaches Away are the most cost-effective solution to feed the Kill Bots.
  • Mineral shields are 50 health structures. A minimap ping indicates their arrival. If not destroyed they last a very long time then they disappear on their own.
  • Player units and static defense DO NOT autotarget Mineral Shields.
  • Temporal Field renders units and buildings completely immobile until it dissipates. Heroes are slowed.

Mutation overlap 212 this week 2nd

1st clearNova P3+Stukov P3

Mutation (Locked and Loaded) play list

This mutation is too moderate, kill bots can be countered with expendable units. Temporal fields and mineral shields are unnecessary. Recommended commanders:

  • Zagara P1
  • Raynor P1
  • Stukov P3
  • HH P1
  • Mengsk P3
  • Stetmann P1

If nothing else, obligatory Zagara P1 and Stukov P3 Zerg couple

#212 Locked and Loaded – SOLO ALL CLEAR

Mutators: Kill Bots, Temporal Field, Mineral Shields

https://youtu.be/2a6cyDO21PA (easy solo - Stukov p3)

Kill bots – one of the few unfair mutators – are back. Play a zerg commander and you’ll be fine. The good thing is that you can speedrun this map before the kill bots get out of control. Hopefully your ally actually captures the locks.

Put a photon cannon, spine crawler, or bunker behind each mineral line and put them on a hotkey. Press that hotkey and shift click the mineral shields every time they show up. If you don’t, you might not get enough minerals to feed the kill bots.

For duos: A feeder and a clearer

Feeders: Stukov, Zagara, Kerrigan, Abathur, Stetmann, Zeratul, HH, Raynor, Mengsk

Clearer: Nova, Zeratul, Stetmann, Kerrigan, Alarak, Tychus

For solo queue: Stukov, Zagara, Zeratul

Very easy brutation this week: I played Zagara P1 (Scourge queen- while my ally went for Vorazun. My ally went mass DT’s vs an air composition… but it didn’t matter. Zagara could easily mass up enough zerglings to statisfy the killbots, scourge cleared voidrays and carriers and banes did the rest. As for the DT’s: well… yeah.

Not a difficult week with good feeder commanders (as expected). There’s just a lot of extra redirection to deal with the mineral shields and bots in addition to everything else.

Stukov P3 with a P1 Raynor (lvl12) ally. I did the usual P3. My ally went all bio, which was a bit humorous due to the enemy comp including Banelings. They also completely ignored the mineral shields the whole mission. But despite all that, they did fine. They even did the bonus solo.

This mutation is easy, but I can’t stand Killbots. Not a fan of the idea of invincible enemies you have to feed units to in order to kill. Thankfully I was able to beat this on the first try.

This has to be where Bliz got it from. Lol

I forgot about that!

Yeah, if Coop allowed for crossovers, would’ve been neat to have a Zap Branningan CO  :open_mouth:

A little late because I just came back from vacation but thankfully there were still peeps queueing in random. Lost my first run with a Dehaka, I guess they were new since they kept rushing headlong into killbots (tbf they were mastery 54 so probably not so new). 2nd run was with a P1 Zagara (forgot to mention I was running good ol’ P3 stukov) and everything went smoothly except for the random scraps of capture waves that ended up capping a lock or two extending the game by a few minutes.

You tend to get quite a few takers even until the very end (close to Monday, 2am PDT), so matching up shouldn’t be an issue!
