Co-Op Mutation #396: In the Name of Love

An ambush by enemy forces has left your troops unprepared. They move sluggishly, and are slowed even more as they come under fire. Keep everyone just ahead of the fire if you want to get out alive.

Concussive Attacks - Player units are slowed by all enemy attacks.
Purifier Beam - An enemy Purifier Beam moves across the map toward nearby player units.
Time Warp - Enemy Time Warps are periodically deployed throughout the map.

  • HH P3
  • Nova P3
  • Vorazun P3
  • Stetmann P3

Super easy mutation this week. Went Stukov Bunkers with Nova partner & beat on brutal with no issues but one… “The Purifier Beam does not go into your bases.” this is NOT true!! One of the beams went into my expansion following one my stream’s of infested & gradually started to attack my expansion & destroyed it, had to rebuild but since it was such a easy mutation it wasn’t a issue at all.

maybe because you didn’t use P3 Stukov and maxing out your APM with Tychus P2 when you could just focus and micro one control group with their other prestiges.

huh really. that’s odd. I also had one parked near my expansion mineral line but it just stood there menacingly for a few minutes and then went after my infested wave.

The main annoying thing is slowing down your units and/or Truck. The Truck slowing down is bad on its own, but enough units means you may not have enough “mass” to push/assault, so you’ll be as fast as the slowest units anyways.

That said, still fairly easy to deal with as long as you keep up with it all. Karax P3 and Zagara P1 vs. Libs, BCs, Reapers, and SV wasn’t half bad. I made a mound of defenses at our 3 chokes to hold off enemy forces. I messed up and let my truck die for the last leg. It took a whole minute to get the truck from the start point back to “that spot”, having only 11 seconds left! :open_mouth: However, we did get both bonuses.

Recently, I use Nova P3 while my co-op buddy play as Tychus but level 11 against Immortal/Colossus/HT comp. Easy win.

#211 In the Name of Love – SOLO ALL CLEAR and then some

Mutators: Concussive Attacks, Purifier Beam, Time Warp

An easy mutation.

If a beam gets to either the left or the right base (2nd or 3rd area), it will generally stay there until you go to the last area. If the last area is diagonal from the beam, the beam might just stay there forever. Zerg commanders can consider patrolling overlords in a large circle around the beams to keep them there.

If a beam is near the ramp, stay in your base and put a few units outside to pull the beams away.

Took two attempts. I’ll start with the 2nd one because the 1st was a circus.

P1 Zagara with a P1 Lvl 11 Raynor ally. I was a little apprehensive with a sub-leveled Raynor after how the 1st game went, but it went really well. My ally carried their own with no issues. We ran the mission as if it was non-mutation: we worked independently on the bonuses and together on the objectives. Go both bonuses. Nothing special to report. Piece of cake, despite the ‘warning’ in the 2nd post above. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, the 1st run. I tell this simply for amusement’s sake and for anyone who has time to read slight wall of text. It’s nothing amazing, it’s just goofy. I’ll try to break it up for easy reading.

P1 Zagara with a P3 Raynor ally. This person had to be a troll player.

I had to clear both sides of the first area because they didn’t start making units until 7 minutes in. Just as my banelings cleared everything on their side, they called their banshees down, but it was so late that all they got to kill was one spore crawler.

Ok, so they are busy with early game macroing. No biggie.

They lost their truck twice at the construct of the 1st bonus which decimated their units… each time… when the construct reactivated. With only 6 marines and 2 BCs at that point, it didn’t take much for the construct to wipe most of that.

Ok. That’s a little weird, but maybe they are newer.

After we cleared the 2nd area, they lost their truck because they let it sit on the beacon… with both purifier beams on it. But, they finally got their new truck there with 12 seconds left.

Ok, what is going on here?

We both went toward the 2nd bonus together (approaching from the path below the main bases), however, they didn’t move far enough to the west/left and thus started pushing south into the 4th area (which wasn’t active yet). They must have thought that was the path to the 2nd bonus.

Ok… what in the actual hell??

I finally had to say something so I asked “Where are you going?”. They pulled back and moved to the already finished 2nd bonus. But, they left their truck behind in the 4th area. So yes, truck dead. While I was amassing outside the 3rd area, I asked why they were just sitting at the 2nd bonus. They replied, “I’m noob”. I replied, “I know”. Well actually, they were just sitting there because they were off building up a base at their expo. Starports, depots, etc.

Ok, that’s it.

A moment later a “truck” attack wave spawned and ran into their main (because that’s where their truck was) and despite having both call downs available (per the replay), they did nothing to stop it, and neither did I. They finally quit out. That was at the 21 min mark, which is how long the whole mission should take. Yet, we hadn’t even started pushing into the 3rd area.

And, when I requeued, I got them again!
NOPE.
Alt-F4. lol

Just so that I didn’t get them yet again, I decided to let some time pass by taking a look at their match history. 85% of their match history is successive mutation attempts (both this one and previous ones). For example:
This mutation: 8 losses and finally a win.
Previous mutation: 8 loses and finally a win.
Previous mutation: 7 loses and finally a win.
Etc, etc.

And with ~850 bounty points, that’s got to be a lot of lost games for everyone who got them as an ally.

So I wondered, are they a noob? I took a look at their profile:

  • Ascension 451
  • All 3 Raynor Prestiges unlocked
  • All races at level 50
  • WoL Brutal completed. WoL, the Terran campaign.
  • Plat 1v1
  • Diamond teams

Noob, yeah right. Barring some kind of account sharing, they are most definitely a leacher.
