Co-Op Mutation #377: Choices Choices

Hybrids supercharged with Void energy are marching towards the temple. They are nigh unkillable, and they destroy all upon death. Keep them at bay until the Temple is ready!

Hardened Will - Enemy Heroic units reduce all incoming damage to a maximum of 10 when any non-heroic enemy unit is near them.
Inspiration - Enemy Heroic units increase the attack speed and armor of all enemies within a small range.
Mutually Assured Destruction - Enemy Hybrid units detonate a Nuke upon death.

Notes:

  • Hybrid nukes detonate INSTANTLY after the death animation.
  • Hybrid destroyers detonate mini-nukes, while all other hybrid detonate big nukes.
  • Hardened Will is basically the hardened shields from the Wings of Liberty version of the Immortal. If your normal attack does 50 damage, it will deal 10 damage to units with hardened will.
  • Inspiration provides +25% attack speed and +3 armor to enemy units within 5 radius of the Hyrbids.

#191 Choices Choices – SOLO ALL CLEAR

Mutators: Hardened Will, Inspiration, Mutually Assured Destruction

Easy Solo is back! An easy solo for Super Gary.

As with similar mutations (Hardened Will and Inspiration combo), AOE is great. Make sure you have a way to attack siege units in the back and detect invisible units. Also beware of enemy workers or units from the bases that might be near a thrasher or hybrid.

Do not fight near the temple because hybrid explosions can do a lot of damage. Don’t build any buildings near the temple. If hybrid end up fighting you there, lure them away. Hybrid nemesis might fly directly to the temple. Don’t let them do that.

Put sacrificial units on a hotkey and send them in to finish off a hybrid to avoid major losses. This isn’t necessary if you can drag a few units instead.

If you get an attack wave announcement at 3:10, you’ll be facing Pattern B (air hybrids, extra thrasher). Clear the southwest lane so you can reach the extra thrasher more easily. You should clear all the lanes anyway, but it’s even more important when there’s an extra thrasher. For pattern B, if the 18 min wave comes from the southwest, be prepared to fight two big hybrid and EIGHT hybrid nemesis.

If you leave the final two thrashers alone, the temple will take about 1200 dmg. If you leave the extra thrasher alone, that’s an extra 450 dmg. As long as no hybrids explode near the temple, if the temple is at full health at around 20 minutes, you can actually leave all the thrashers alone.

Getting your :eggplant: static D :eggplant: nuked feels bad man. Might try Abathur P2, Swann P2, and Karax P1.

Also re-rolling with your buddy until you get protoss as your enemy for an easier time is also a viable strategy.

Zerg can be much easier because their units tend to die very quickly.
But I think enemy race matters much less than which hybrids Amon gets.

Destroyers and Dominators → easy time, as Destroyers have small nukes.
Reavers and Behemoths → pain and suffering because they will walk right on top of your army and explode there if you don’t have sacrificial units.
Nemesis hybrids → Nemesis have a habit of ignoring attackers and going straight to the temple. You let one too many slip through or get them park on top of your army, and it’s game over.

Cleared it as Stukov P3 with a Karax P1. I thought for sure it was a throw but surprisingly, karax turrets are resilient against Nukes. Got a bit lucky that Amon only threw Nemesis hybrids at us but we did get breached when 4 of them decided to dive bomb the temple and set off their nuke right in Karax’s towers. Fortunately I also anticipated this and made my bunkers at the sides of the pathways so they have less chance to aggro hybrids and get nuked. Getting critical mass of bunkers was key here as infested marines deal less than 10 weapon damage so they basically bypass hardened will.

Karax P1 has Unity Barrier for structures. IIRC, 1 minute cd is enough for them to replenish between hybrid waves (vs. 4 minutes normally on units).

I believe Plagued Munitions by passes Hardened Will as well!

yeah I thought those would get taken down right away by the wave but the nemesis hybrids were kind enough to zoom ahead of the attack wave and get killed first so the unity barriers were worth it.

did Aba P2 mass swarm hosts. full biomass locusts don’t easily die except nukes and replaced fast by newer locusts.

LOSS: Zagara P1 + Kerrigan P2 vs. MM, tanks
Held out until 1:00.

WIN: Zagara P1 + HH P1 vs. Mutas, BL, Corr.
A few hybrids detonated near the temple. Thought we were done for, but managed to get it under control for the rest of the game.

For both cases, making towers helps delay waves and hybrid to buy you time to take them out. For Zagara using Creep Turmos and proxy hatches helps there (not to mention the Hatches themselves)

Got it on first run as P1 Zagara with a P2 Tychus ally against ground Protoss (with a few of scouts in some of the attack waves).

I went with CtG’s the super double secret strat of face melting everything with Banelings. I didn’t watch my ally too closely, but they seemed to be able to handle their own. Cleared all the lanes, got the bonuses. Went great, no trouble.

Having Zagara’s Zerglings reduce enemy armor to 0 was a big help.

Won first try with artanis p0 ally stukov the temple barely scratched, it only took 12 damage.

Go with the usual dragoon opening, rush whirlwind zealot as the enemy was swarmy zerg. Then triple forge to rush 3/3/3.
My shield overcharge shielded 23k damage for my ally alone.
Dragoons are quite fine for killing hybrids thanks to their range.
Also made fully upgraded templars after 3/3/3, but they barely have done anything. Stormed some lings and mutas in one wave that’s it.

As expected, Karax P1 and Zeratul P3 are experts of base defenses.
