Co-Op Mutation #277: Hostile Takeover

Amon’s forces are using their missiles and laser drill to target your structures from afar. Whatever they burn down, they will rebuild as their own. Guard your bases well, but don’t forget the Void Shards[not Rifts] that threaten to destroy Korhal itself.

Missile Command - Endless missile bombardments target your structures and must be shot down throughout the mission.
Laser Drill - An enemy Laser Drill constantly attacks player units within enemy vision.
Eminent Domain - Enemies gain control of your structures after destroying them.

Notes:

  • [Missiles] spawn at the very start, from the edges of the map. They slowly fly to the players’ bases.
  • The missiles do NOT give vision to the Laser Drill.
  • Missiles deal 100 damage at first. However, the size increases, and eventually they launch [nuke missiles] toward players’ bases. Those ones come with a warning sound.
  • We can shoot down the missiles 10 HP, but sometimes they launch [Point Defense Drones], so we need to shoot those down first. Also, we cannot stop them from spawning.
  • The [Moebius Laser Drill] has 1000HP/2000Shields, 2 Armor, deals 20 damage per second, range of 500.
  • Upon being destroyed, the [Laser Drill will revive after 120 seconds].
  • Protoss buildings claimed by Amon will need power to function. They also do not get commander-specific upgrades.

#42 Hostile Takeover – SOLO ALL CLEAR

Mutators: Eminent Domain, Laser Drill, Missile Command

The synergy between these mutators makes this one seem harder than B+1. Missile command means using static D to defend at home, but if your buildings die, eminent domain will give Amon vision, and then his laser will poke at your stuff. Nukes come at 15 minutes, so if you clear this map quickly, you’ll deal with fewer of them. Note that when air units kill missiles, Amon gets vision of that unit for 2 seconds, meaning that the laser will poke at that unit for about 40 damage.

Strategy: The usual strats against missile command. Commanders who can repair should put some idle workers around the base to auto-repair damaged buildings. The usual strats against laser drill. Invisibility, fat units, high healing, or super large armies all work well. You can ignore eminent domain for the most part.

For an easy victory, use any Terran commander besides HH (although HH can deal with missile command fairly well). Karax and Stukov also make this mutation easy.

For a challenge, use Dehaka, Alarak, Fenix, Artanis, or Zagara.

This is going to be super easy. Grab any of your low lvl commanders and get some sweet exp

Ever feel like Eminent Domain is like that guy that tags along just to be included in the mutation?

Mutation (Hostile Takeover) play list

Is it possible to build some buildings at the pathway from the waves and therefore block them ? Becouse i dont think they will destroy theyr own buildings once it’s taken over by amon

Stukov P1 and Mengsk mass artillery.

Would not Zagara be good here? Lots of units to divert attention of the laser. Lots of drones to build spore crawlers. Relatively fast army to deal with whatever come, made easier from the fact attack waves always from the same place in this map.

Once nukes come, you either have to use bile launchers or scourge. If you have an ally who can reliably deal with nukes, Zagara works quite well (not p3 because mass frenzy doesn’t benefit the army). And if you can finish the mission quickly, nukes won’t be a big problem. She’s great early game, but gets wrecked by the nukes/pdds later on.

Very easy week. Good for grinding the 150 Brutal mutation achievement.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because the next month of mutations are going to be hard.

Won it at Hard with Zagara P1 and Zeratul ally.
Took damage despite the spore colonies, but only 1 of them ever turned to Amon side.
Scourges can’t catch standard missiles, but they can easily dispose of nukes and their defensive escort.
Make me think scourges would benefit greatly from a short-range speedup ability, even if in exchange they had to explode after the time it takes to reach the destination even if there’s no longer an enemy in range.

Didn’t try the bile launchers, I got a not that good play :face_with_thermometer: where for some reasons, I would lack supply and resources in an unusual way, good thing my ally wasn’t as bad as the usual specimens I encounter in normal games.

Near the end, a powerful attack seemed to be coming, but we killed the last Shard before it became a problem.
Both bonus were destroyed.

Ok I’m going P2 Vora Level 10. Hopefully I can get to P3 soon. I grinded some games yesterday to earn Time Stop at level 10 for the mutation.

Easy one: you can solo it with zeratul P3: just take out the detection so zera isn’t targetted and build turrets and enforcers. Cleave will do the rest. I had a dc on my first try and a questionable bunkerstukov-ally on my second try. Managed to pretty much solo it in 18 mins.

This one is just more tedious than anything else. Spend the first 1/4 of the game setting up some Supply Bunkers with a pair of Troopers in each then work on the army.

zzzzz. Beaten with Mengsk + A not so attentive Dehaka.

P2 Artanny with Han & Horner Power-C. Use Bombardment on first thrasher, and then to take out one in the top left. Then again on the middle. You’ll have one left for the last set as well.

Nexus Legate is really good here to go to the Thrashers or go home. I had to save my ally on the last set as he was being overrun and warp back to his main to clean up the buildings. We only got one Pirate ship.

He did enough damage with his bombing planes so I could clean up the last 4. Spinlot/Goon/Immortal/Obs/Tempest is the comp I used. It was against DT/Carrier comp. Horner Han seems to do really well against Skytoss. Really helped me in the beginning.

I thought I was secure building auto-turrets around my base and I forgot there were missiles that launch mini-ones when they die. Before I knew it almost all my turrets have turned on me by late game.

Done with mengst p3
Just build a few supply bunkers arround your base and your partners base and send in each one 2 lmg troopers

They instantly kill every rocket on sight.

Had to get Recall at 11 before I do this with Vora.

Done as Alarak P3 with a P0 Abathur ally, against a Protoss comp with Disruptors, DTs and other stuff. Was pretty fun.

Missile defenses consisted of Cannons and Destroyers. I also parked two of them at his bases, because I think the Spore Crawler shots get neutralized by the PDDs.

At the final push we arranged for me to teleport to the bonus ship, after destroying the damn Laser and 9/10 Slivers. Speaking of which, I was really glad about Regeneration. The damn missiles grant vision for the Drill, and it loved to target my Mothership.

Didn’t go for an Ascendant comp for this one. Destroyers, Wrathwalkers, enough Supplicants in case Alarak gets focused by the laser - which did happen - and some Slayers.

No they don’t. OP say it, and I checked it myself.
Something else gave vision (considering you were against protoss, DT and observers are among the possibilities).
