Co-Op Mutation #224: Bubble Pop

The battlestation has activated its lockdown protocol, which deploys fields that slow down your forces, seals off resource nodes, and deploys shields on the defenders. Strike with precision to get through their setup.

Barrier - Enemy units gain a temporary shield upon the first time they take damage.
Mineral Shields - Mineral clusters at player bases are periodically encased in a shield which must be destroyed for gathering to continue.
Time Warp - Enemy Time Warps are periodically deployed throughout the map.

Notes:

  • Time Warp slows down player units and structures in a large area until it dissipates.
  • Time warp starts as a red circle on the ground, which gives players time to move out of its area before it spawns the slowing bubble.
  • Barrier gives a 100 health shield to units that don’t get killed in 1 hit.
  • Mineral shields are 50 health structures. A minimap ping indicates their arrival. If not destroyed they last a very long time then they disappear on their own.
  • Player units and static defense DO NOT autotarget Mineral Shields.
  • Time Warp affects the artifact trucks.

Last week’s winner is Tychus?
I thought Mengsk would take the crown?

I though so too but Mengsk was a very close second. It’s an anecdote but I notice that the majority of Mengsk players I randomly queue with aren’t aware of the RtK ESO cheese strat.

Two vote differences. It was a close poll between Tychus and Mengsk. Each of them have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Tychus required little effort on macro as there isn’t much structures to build so players can focus on micro managing the Heroes such as dodging the fireworks. Mengsk, on the other hand, take a good amount of macro and micro into it.

IMO players tend to focus more on micro than macro so it’d make sense for lot of players to pick Tychus over Mengsk.

I know right. He’s just disproportionately popular because of how simple he is to play.

Mengsk/tychus? Wtf u guys smoking. HH bomber could just kill any forces trying to steal gifts, then just drop a mine to cap the gift yourself, no forces needed.

Try killing all the shards with just Strike Fighters then get back to me.

Guess I’ll try my luck with a lvl 1 commander this week

Need more xp!

lv1 straight to lv6 doable

WHo said anything bout killing shards with strike fighters. You can just use ur army to mop stuff up. Strike fighters are for stealing gifts anywhere on map, tychus can’t do it, mengsk can’t do it if outta splitter range. HH best

Clearly you missed my point about cheesing RtK with Earthsplitters. All the shards can destroyed without ever having to directly engage with your army, which means zero risk of army loss. And with ESOs you can finish the mutation in 12-15 minutes very similar to standard RtK.

Mengsk had more votes because destroying shards is the primary objective; picking up gifts is secondary. In fact, you don’t need to pick up gifts at all. My ally and I didn’t pick up any gifts one game and we barely noticed, because the map was over so quickly.

Managed to do it canon pushing as Karax with the new prestige cuz I wanted to test it to the max and to decide if I should finally consider canon pushing to be a valid strategy especially on such a purely offensive type mission. It was super tedious and rather micro intensive, but whenever you can manage to get a decent amount of cannon set up just perfectly right within seconds of each other by using several probes then get them super charged with a Energizer, Nexux Chrono, and a Chrono Boost its so worth the trouble because of how ridiculously fast you can get them to fire and instantly annihilate anything, definetly not the best strat to use, but its doable. Those Monoliths can fire so fast it almost looks like a Void Ray beam.

Beat it on first try. I played as Artanis with Nexus Legate Prestige and have Nova with no prestige as my ally. The mission map isn’t frustrating at all. Any commanders should work.

Lol @ this week. I think I might just do this on my Prestige Reynor that isn’t level 15 yet just to speed the grind along. These mutations are super easy to handle.

Nice and easy mutation, did it on brutal with lvl 11 karax :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: (not solo, ofcourse :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:), got pushed to lvl 14.
Interesting that mineral shields also get shields.
Orbital strike destroys them in 1 hit, but not if ally starts to attacking them first
