Your enemies are fanatical. Even upon dying they still crawl towards you. The ferocity has rent open the ground and lava bursts forth into the sky, even taking out space craft! Help Ji’Nara navigate the terrain through victory!
Lava Burst - Lava periodically burst from the ground at random locations and deals damage to player air and ground units.
Walking Infested - Enemy units spawn Infested Terran upon death in numbers according to the unit’s life.
That’s probably a good thing. Too many people with under-levelled or less-experienced CO’s trying the mutation. My first 3 random rolls: lvl 12 Raynor, lvl 1 Raynor, lvl ~47 Raynor. So clearly players who have either never played or have just started (since Raynor is a free CO). The lvl 12 actually queued for Hard (as did I) so it’s not like we got a Normal+Hard game. Btw, the level 1 & 12 are not Mastery 1 & 12, it’s the training 1 & 12 (number was in Blue, not Red).
And then got a lvl ~60 Tychus who clearly knew what they were doing (I went for a slow push). Will redo on Brutal later, but not with the random queue.
Lava Burst shouldn’t be underestimated, particularly with this whole free commander thing. Otherwise a regular mission, where you pray you don’t get rekt by second attack wave and your ally knows to push Jinara.
1st game and what can i say, my lvl 60ish Mastery Kerrigan dies immediately to the volcanos and the 2nd attack wave i get is a huuuuge protoss deathball, i was like WHAT? Never did I see such an unfair 2nd attack wave.
As explained in aommaster’s weekly mutation run (and past editions of Rockslapping Champions), lava bursts do more damage to heroic units than non-heroic units, and the second wave on Chain of Ascension is notorious for being a typical 15-minute mark wave at ~9 minutes. One of the biggest early tactical blunders on the map is triggering the first set of hybrids and the second attack wave at the same time.
Easy enough with Tychus (figured I might need to carry). First ally was level 12 Artanis but since he pushed well it was no trouble. Second ally was also Artanis who used solar bombard well and pushed.
Underprepared partners aren’t a reason to dumb things down. The Tychus I got matched with was only level 13, I didn’t bail immediately because I know that the commander and abilities itself can carry a bad player to a certain extent; lava bursts and infested aren’t too scary. If I got matched with a Level 1 Raynor, would’ve told them to GTFO, as anyone should. Any skill levels inbetween just need practice.
