Co-Op Mutation #195: Blind Tribute

As if Ji’Nara didn’t have enough problems, she is now under attack from vicious kill bots who are bent on destroying her allies’ armies. The terrazine mists also cloud the vision of your forces, so keep focused on her to prevail.

Kill Bots - Invincible Kill Bots attack your forces until they hit their predetermined kill limit and shut down.
Short-sighted - Player units and structures have reduced vision range.

Other Notes:

  • The [Kill Bots] spawn from any enemy building. Clearing the whole map will stop the Bot spawns.
  • The Kill Bots originally appeared in “Violent Night” as Amon’s gift.
  • The more expensive each of your units are, the worse deal you get. If you are Nova or Tychus, for example, it might be worthwhile to produce spare SCVs to feed the bots, if your ally is unable to help.
  • Free units, such as Stukov’s Infested, Zerglings in general, and Stetmann’s Roaches Away are the most cost-effective solution to feed the Kill Bots.
  • Units have a shorter range than usual. This does not affect Melee units.
  • Raynor’s scan works perfectly to give vision for the mutation.
  • The Aleksander will steal the vision of units it mind controls.

#195 Mutation Blind Tribute play list…

Mengsk, Raynor, Kerrigan, Stettman are key players,
But Stukov and Zagara are clear winners.

I played Dehaka with Zagara players, while she dealt with the bots I amassed Mutalisks and Primal Leaders and RAZED the entire field like crazy hahahha (also grabbing Bonus)

Raynor actually isn’t that good against Kill Bots. The economic burden is still very great, such that he’s barred from soloing against them for long.

Abathur, on the other hand, can very easily solo Kill Bots mutations because he’s the commander that’s least reliant on economy and can afford to set aside a huge portion of his income into feeding bots while getting great offensive value out of his ultimate evolutions. In fact, he can afford to feed off 1base income.

I like to imagine that the kill bots have a feeder fetish.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was thinking Dehaka could handle the kill bots too because I’m always floating minerals at the end of the game and I could use that to build 4 extra wardens to spawn zerglings / build extra drones from his “hive” for feeding.

There is no issue with End game bot feeding for all commanders. It the early game when minerals are precious, yet you have to make units to feed the bots that is the main problem.

Zagara Solo

Well yeah… but he floats minerals all game. You can afford to make zerglings for a little while before you dump all your gas into mutas, swarm hosts, etc. But yeah I see what you are saying.

Did it as Kerrigan with a Zagara partner. Honestly short-sighted was the more annoying mutator. Especially since I got the Terran mech composition with cloaked banshees.

Dehaka could handle the bots in the sense that he can hero solo anyways and thus doesn’t need units for anything else.

Cleared this mutation with Zagara (me) and Kerrigan (random ally).

I just fed my zergling on the kill bots while my Kerrigan ally clearing most of the bases and waves.

Hmm, I’m thinking Stukov is great for BOTH of the mutators… feed Infested Civvies that he generates for free from his Compound, but I hear his Queen’s Ocular Symbiote ability not only grants +5 vision, but also negate that mutator! This grants that unit not just a more normal vision, but “super vision”!

Managed this with my scrub Zagara with a Stukov partner.

Clear the map and enjoy a bot free mission. Ez mode

There is no issue with End game bot feeding for all commanders.

From 21 minutes 3 kill bots requiring 15 kills spawn every minute, that’s 2250 minerals needed for commanders that don’t have cheap units, this is more than you can mine from 2 bases and this gets worse after 25 mins when 4 bots start spawning every minute and you would require 3000 minerals per minute to feed them, this is obviously a huge issue for many commanders. If we consider 2 unfavorable commanders are contributing from 4 bases income then it becomes barely possible to survive. Then production time is also a problem, if you got tychus and nova trying to feed endgame bots you would need a total of 17 CCs to produce 60 workers per minute and maybe more considering both these commanders would likely often hit max supply.

My ally and I made an agreement. I will focus on feeding bots when they spawn while he focused on clearing bases.

So by end game, we only have to deal with enemy waves.

Your units are still able to shoot at their maximum range if they have vision. For example if you play Zealot-Tempest and your Zealots run forward the Tempests still can shoot at their 10 range.

I don’t really like the Kill Bots. It seems to me that this mutator heavily favors certain commanders while punishing other considerably.

Actually most mutators are similar in this respect.
