Co-Op Mutation #170: Dodge This

The majority of Amon’s forces have already fled the planet as the fearsome Void Shade Hybrid nears its birth. However, they continue to bombard your forces from geostationary orbit. They have already taken out your surveillance satellites, yet they continue to fire plasma and nuclear missiles on the general battlefield in hopes of wiping out your forces. Destroy the Void Slivers before they wipe out your army!

Darkness - Previously explored areas remain blacked out on the minimap while outside of player vision.
Going Nuclear - Nukes are launched at random throughout the map.
Orbital Strike - Enemy Orbital Strikes are periodically fired throughout the map.

Notes:

  • The warning spot for Going Nuclear is the large targeting area. However, you only have 5 Blizzard seconds of warning before the nuke hits.
  • Amon has [A LOT] of Orbital Strikes.
  • The expansion is safe from nukes and orbital strikes.
  • The orbital strikes tend to center on your forces for a while, but have a long delay before actually firing. So waiting until Amon’s last orbital strike has been targeted BEFORE dodging will show you a better idea of where the safe spots are, and keep your forces firing to maximize effectiveness.
  • All units keep their vision. However, there is no fog of war on the map.
  • The attack waves are not visible in the darkness on the minimap.

Should be an easy one, except the stupid bonus shuttle.

Feels good to have such a more doable (not saying easy per say) mutation.

Has anyone tried to do the bonus in this mutation? I skipped it, because I thought the shuttles would be killed by random nukes on the way anyway.

Dehaka and his Primal friends get the job done!

Bonus is not affected by environmental mutators.

He’s right, you know

Hmm, especially not a good one for Karax!

Nah, shuttles SOP is still to fly through enemy towers. No nukes required :stuck_out_tongue:

Dodging 1000000 nukes was fun and sometimes punishing but this was not too difficult thankfully. Just put spotter pylons to know where the waves came from.

Actually, I suspect mass mirage would be quite effective on this map, seeing as there isn’t much static defence and are few clumped armies.

Completed first try on brutal with Artanis + Tychus. Not too hard of a mutation especially compared to previous weeks.

Did bonus as Kerrigan full mastery with Swann tank/herc partner. She is great at clearing those small strongholds. It is doable but not necessary worth it.
Stukov’s libs do not have the swarm behaviour on the shards. It is strange cause they do on those of Rift of Korhal.

Did this with Tychus/Rattlesnake/Sirius starting with further slivers while my ally was watching TV. Easy muta comparing to recent once i could not even finish.

I liked running this with Artanis. Easy Zealot suicides to snipe the furthest Slivers and life insurance for your army. Pretty easy mutation, Darkness didn’t factor in too much since there are only two spawn points. Thinking this mutator combo would be harder on Mist Opportunities.

It would be downright absurd on Mist Opportunities. Usually the counter to darkness is to just send off some observers or other spotter units, but you can’t do that against the nukes.

It would be a good way to actually make the players work together without it having to feel forced upon them the way Polarity + Just Die does. Since it’s a lot harder to spawn camp and detect attack waves both players might actually stick with the bots rather than having one player clearing out bases and spawncamping while the other one plays defense.
