it’s like they couldn’t make up their minds whether they wanted him to be a force of nature type villain or a villain with complex motivations so they went with a dash of both, resulting in a confused character you’re not sure how to feel about. All that talk about “ending the cycle” and it’s never elaborated on.
I 100% agree. In WOL Kerrigan had that excuse that she was under Amon’s control, but she has no such excuse here. For me one of the worst of it is when she kills General Warfield. General Warfield had originally saved her from Amon’s corruption. And how does he get repaid for risking his life for someone who didn’t even really deserve it? He looses his own life in a fairly painful way too.
Kerrigan in HOTS does not intentionally kill any civilians.
She does kill Dominion soldiers which are justified since :
- Dominion soldiers keep hunting and attempted to murder Kerrigan even though she deserves a peaceful recovery as a full human
- anyone can have reasonable assumption that the dominion soldiers are evil for serving Arcturus willingly since Arcturus’s involvement in the billions of death on Tarsonis is widespread by the events of HOTS
- the Dominion soldiers have no hesitation to murder Raynor even though he’s the one who saved them on Char with his brilliant plans. So Kerrigan is justified to seek justice for Raynor’s “death” over the matter.
Actually Kerrigan does care about bringing
freedom to the Dominion civilians. Asides from seeking personal justice, Kerrigan do indeed wanted to liberate the Dominion citizens’s from Arcturus’s evil rule.
Kerrigan mentioned this during HOTS’s invasion of Korhal whereby she told Zagara and Iszha that even if she were to fall, she’s happy to at least allow the Dominion civilians an opportunity to despose Arcturus since Arcturus is in a weakened position.
Before you say she’s lying or don’t mean it, bear in mind that Kerrigan has absolutely no benefit of lying to her Zerg lieutenants who have absolutely no concerns for humans’ lives and welfare.
Warfield does not have any intention of saving Kerrigan or freeing her from Amon’s influence.
Warfield only cares about utilising the energies of the Xel’Naga artifact as a golden opportunity to eliminate the Zerg to bring glory to himself and the Dominion.
As mentioned above, Warfield do not have the intention save Kerrigan and thus there’s no repayment issue.
There are a few reasons why Kerrigan is justified to kill Warfield as follows:
- he serves as General of the Terran Dominion who hunted Kerrigan like an animal although Kerrigan deserves to have a treatment to complete her recovery as a human
- Kerrigan believed the Dominion to have killed Raynor in which Warfield is also responsible since he’s their General
- Warfield isn’t a good person. Kerrigan also has absolutely no reasons to believe he is good. No good person would willingly serve Arcturus knowing that he’s responsible for the billions of death on Tarsonis. By HOTS, Arcturus’s involvement in the Tarsonis scandal is widespread and thus Warfield have no excuse of not knowing about the matter.
Oh. Those are some good points. It makes sense now. I figured he didn’t have the purest of intentions, but I figured him saving her still counted for something.
Thanks.
Well in a way Warfield did make contributions to defeat the old QOB with the Xel’Naga artifact which allows Kerrigan to cleanse of Amin’s influence. That’s true.
However Kerrigan has no reasons to think so especially when Warfield’s Dominion has been hunting her and Raynor like animals.
So in Kerrigan’s point of view, Warfield just wanted her dead regardless of whether she’s the old QOB or in her de-infested form.
Totally agreed, Well done post.
Eh I would actually even pick Mira Han above Amon because Amon and the Xel’naga at least have the benefit of ancient life forms with other thought process and except Amon them already being dead. And Amon feels like all are beneath them so he just have to stomp them.
But Mira Han has no explenation on why she accepted the poker marriage and what she sees in Matt except that he whas forced to marry her.
Meanwhile Dehaka’s one sideness is exactly his charming point. He is a bit like Son Goku who is also mostly about fighting and eating. Dehaka is simple and honest about his goals as he is just like a typical Zerg dreaming of the day he reached perfection.
