Can we have veto in map selection

Hi,

This is made to avoid frustation from rolling an unwanted map. I know some players leave during screen loading cos of this. And some are playing the map even if they tell at the beginning/end of the game they hate it.

Edit : I would say the number of veto should be 10% of the quantity of maps. There are currently 15 maps available. So at least 1 veto, and 2 would be perfect.

I would veto CoD and never ever see it again. I just hate it.

The clock will ever return to the same point.

Honestly, there’s clearly an audience for it, so I’d be okay with a test run of it so long as we kept up a similar spread of maps overall.

If they ever implement this I’d veto CoD forever and probably LnL too.

I used to be a little meh about Cradle of Death myself but never to the point of not playing it. The more I played it though the better I got with it so I don’t really mind it now (unless there’s mutators that keep me too busy).

So then I’d have to ask, why do some people hate it so much, and what might be done to make it less so?

IMO, microing 1 more slow unit.

You know I’m usually against map veto forever, but right now I could go for a mist (sleep) opportunities veto because it’s too long for leveling commanders. Gotta get that fast exp man…

CoD should wander away from the party and fall in some quick sand, never to be seen again. I honestly enjoy every other map but this one. I’ll still play it most of the time when it comes up, but it’s far and away the least enjoyable.

i long for the day when I never have to play vermillion problem ever again.

Let’s ask for more maps instead, 1-2 less favourable maps in the whole pool isn’t that big of an issue when you can leave and remake (if you even hate it that much).

more maps would be nice but more design work.

A map veto would probably be a lot simpler to make (veto any number of maps…but you don’t get the random map exp bonus)

Why is this so?

Last few maps all came from the map contest. Why not just let the mass submit their maps for a chance to be featured, no need for monetary value attached. I think it’s easier to do that than to make a veto system to try and balance matchmaking (which in itself has issues, so you’re building a system on a broken system).

Last few maps were hated until revamped (and are still among least popular)

I would much rather them put their resources into fixing why certain maps are universally hated than implement a map veto option.

Of course them making new maps is also extremely wanted

Didn’t really answer the question.

What does the contest maps being unpopular has to do with what’s less resource intensive between veto and submission maps?

Also, at its core, one removes existing content (which many, include yourself is against) while the other is adding new content.

Attack waves that spawn right outside your base.

That’s mitigated by making sure to leave your army and truck outside your base. Of course that’s not so easy to do with your partner’s truck, naturally.

Adding maps

  1. is design work
  2. if the design work isn’t done, then Bad maps are added which makes Random map Unfun

Map Veto

  1. is UI work
  2. if it is a bad option, can be ignored, Random map won’t be any worse
  3. If it is functional, makes Random map better able to handle bad maps without losing fun

You get to choose where those attack waves spawn, though, as they only spawn near your truck. You can move your truck away from your base and let the enemies spawn further away and even spend time killing the truck, if you need to delay the attack waves. I always instantly move my truck away from the spawn point, if I’m army-prepared then I’ll move my army out there with it. If not, the truck gives us a small delay and respawns instantly anyway. The ramps are also tiny and thus fairly easy to build defenses at.

I understand though, it is definitely one of the more difficult maps, it basically has the Aggressive Deployment mutator full time, so most of the attack waves are spawning directly on top or very near you - whereas every single other map generally has a pretty hefty distance between their spawn point and your base. Even the normal attack waves in Cradle of Death spawn pretty close to the base.

Perhaps a small increase in the time between wave drops would suffice?

Lol, you make it sound like a guarantee that new maps will be bad and veto map will make it all better.

Anyway, it’s not exclusive of one another. Can have new maps and veto maps. I just hope if they do have the resource/time, they’d work on new content and not some new way to remove current content.
