Bring Back Mothership Core!

I really enjoyed this unit. Why did they remove it? My fav was harassing with it x3 in team games.

Oh so you want to go back to a time when losing the mothership core meant the game was over for protoss. Hinge every possibility of success on a 100/100 unit that defines everything you can do defensively.

No thank you. I want to see Protoss actually win things at equal rates with Terran and Zerg.

You do realize that during the Mothership Core era, Toss was in the worst spot it’s ever been in in PvZ right?

PvZ was at 41.84% on the Professional level. Right now it’s at 60.42%. So no, for the sake of Protoss everywhere: We should not go back to Mothership Core because you personally liked it.

HotS was awful. So was WoL. The ladders were even deleted for those. We’re never going back.

How would mothership core address any of that? That was still the case in HotS. You just had a flimsy spell caster that kept you from dying for the first few minutes of the game if you didn’t lose it; and if you did you just died. That was the entire game for Protoss. No professional players wanted that.

The reason gateway units for Protoss suck in SC2 is obvious. What did Protoss not have in BW that let them have good gateway units? Warp gate. Protoss had standardized RTS production and that allowed them to have good gateway units. If you can make units instantly in your opponent’s base…they have to be mediocre. Can you imagine if Terran could literally warp in 20 supply of marines or widow mines in your main instantly? Not fly them in and drop them, make them on the spot whenever they wanted. Protoss would universally quit the game. Those units are good because they can’t do that. They have to be flown in, which limits their number and offers no option for reinforcement if they hold ground in there. If SC2 Toss was changed to BW Toss production, they could get buffed gateway units. Zealots could have charge damage again. Stalkers could get a range buff allowing Collosi to hold against Vikings. Adepts could…well they’d still be adepts, idk what to do about them. But there would be options available that aren’t feasible now.

Not that it’ll do any good, but I’d also point out high level PvX isn’t cheese heavy…it’s mostly macro games. Reminder that a 7 minute timing push isn’t cheese…it’s a normal macro strategy.

Now since Blizzard won’t change it should protoss till the end of time be race that

Should it be? No. But there’s literally nothing that can be done. Warp Gate is impossible to balance, it’s one of the worst ideas in RTS history. Until it’s mitigated Protoss is up a creek without a paddle. It’ll always be a boom or bust race. I strongly encourage a Protoss exodus. Maybe if no one is playing Toss Blizzard will finally do something about it. It’ll be like a General Strike.

It was removed because it was a cancerous bandaid that shouldnt have existed in the first place. The unit was awful in every sense of the word, in every itteration it existed.

  1. Pylon Overcharge was overpowered
  2. Every.single.game Protoss would have to get it ASAP to survive
  3. There were more than a few cheeses involving it, which were obnoxious beyond reason.

It was bad for the game in every conceivable way.

They want to give something unique to toss. a kind of “hero unit”.
Is a matter of taste.
And with toss itself there were also different opinions.
