Best way to counter zerg fake allin as T?

Zerg makes like 8 roaches very early, scouted by reaper, forcing terran to cancel hellion production and switch to techlab to make a tank, pull the boys to repair the wall. Since T cannot easily tell if Z holds R key or D key now, T have to make another tank to slowly secure the natural. But Z held D key all the time, rolling over T’s economy. T cannot push during that because he was forced to make tanks. T is behind because of losing too many workers repairing the wall before first tank came out (if the early roaches breach the wall the game is over).
After Z has held D key enough, he holds T key, forcing terran that has tanks to make missile turrets over the bases and production, slowing T and getting ahead even more.

Play Zerg and make overlord speed for 75/75.

T key… Tey KEY…i dont know what the T key is man… its stim for me…

but usually if ur reaper scouts an early roach warren and see roaches pop,
you want to keep reaper alive, hide it at zergs 3rd…

make tank and banshee off starport with bunker at nat… send reaper back into check zergs tech and kill some drones. if still no 3rd or still low drone count keep defending…

tank will hold roaches back with scv repair on bunker and depots and the banshee will finish them off.

As a fan of early pressure in ZvT, what I see that works against me is making the third immediately in the main, turning it into an Orbital, scan to see what Zerg is doing; if they made a bunch of drones, take the third, focus on econ, counter the tech transition you scout. If your reaper is still alive you might be able to spare the scan.

Beyond that, just outgreed the Zerg if the Zerg is being greedy. If Zerg is being aggressive use the native defender/position/siege advantage Terran has and continue to build your future expands behind it, floating them to position when the pressure is broken.

If youre a Terran player having problems against zerg’s abysmal early game i dont know what to tell you.

Yes. Very weak. Just riddled with so much cheese focusing on exploiting this weakness in your own race. 2 base ravager. 12 pool. 8 min roach max. All these builds are so weak we never see them.

You sure know so much about the game. Zerg has zillion ways to end early game , nydus, roach ravager spam, just saw a T streamer lose to non WCS Zerg player like that

Thank you all for the tips. Outgreeding zerg sounds like a good idea. But the main point and problem is in the fact that the roaches are toooooo early (builds roach warren at one base). I know it cripples zerg’s economy a lot, but T cannot defend this without repairing the wall, which leads to significant SCV losses. If I remember correctly, as tank came out and denied the push, Z was already ahead in workers, with third hatchery on the way. The game was lost even though push was denied. I will try to find the replay.

As for OP:

  1. Keep reaper alive for scouting purposes, try to see an early timed lair
  2. When you switch factory on to tech for tanks, building 1 is usually plently for holding (with the 6 marines or so you built from the barracks in the meantime). Build one viking to snipe overlords (required to snipe tanks with Bile)
  3. Switch factory back to reactor and starport on to tech lab, make armory.

Attack with: landed viking, hellbats, 1 tank 2 cloak banshees and a handful of marines. Bring a few SCVs to build a bunker or 2.

usually anytime a zerg does this play style, fast roach warren, roach/rav and you defend, your usually ahead if not at least even with the zerg.

if he then goes for a muta switch, there are 2 usual scenarios…

either his eco is behind the terrans due to early roach pressure, aswell as needing minimum 12 drones on gas for the mutas that early. which case u build up army and push around 180 supply with an upgrade timing…

or he droned heavily to saturate his 3rd/partly 4th then into muta. in which case u have a window where u can apply pressure potentially ending the game right there.

a turret per mineral line with afew turrets peppered around ur production to deter the mutas, and a WM or 7. unless ur gonna start thor production, get reactor on factory and pump Wmines…
