Best keyboard for starcraft 2?

what keyboard you would recommend to me to buy ?

I understand why people buy gaming mice: can be more precise and you get more buttons to hotkey things.
But ā€œgamingā€ keyboards?

Meh. I got the K120 from Logitech, it’s a cheap and normal keyboard and that’s all I need.

no no no dont even get a rubber dome keyboard. they make me want to vomit. have some class.

I have used several stitches extensively and my favorite is CherryMx Red or similar. the keyboard I use currently is Fnatic Ministreak with the red switches. I use the mini because the number pad is just in the way of the mouse. I’m old and I’m all about ergonomics.

I have used blues, browns, clears, buckling springs, i just find red is the best for both typing fast and gaming for me, personally. The tactile bump (in blues and browns) always disturbs me and causes me to miss repeated keystrokes, especially on blues where actuation is lower than the reset.

For starcraft I always recommend something smaller than full size otherwise your mouse hand hits your keyboard. I usually recommend Leopold since they make the highest quality boards. Some other good brands are Vortex, Ducky and varmilo. Here are some I like:

Leopold FC750R
Leopold 980
Ducky one 2 TKL
Vortex Race 3
Varmilo 87M

If you do any kind of PC gaming, a mechanical keyboard is a logical purchase. the switches on the keys last much longer than on a rubber dome keyboard. There are also many keyboards with macro keys you can program for easier hotkey set ups for PC games. A lot of SC2 players use these, in fact there’s a conversation brewing on some Starcraft channels that they might provide too much of a benefit to players’ macro.

So to sum up. Gaming keyboards are a real thing. I use one, a Steelseries 6GV2 cherry red. A delightful, durable keyboard that I enjoy playing on a lot more than a regular old rubber dome keyboard. I’ve put it through hell too and it’s still working wonderfully after about 5-6 years of heavy use.

I have a cheap microsoft keyboard (5 euro) ,got it 9 years ago and it still works fine after daily use, many hours per day every day of the year. It’s so cheap and reliable I let my bird playing and eating around it with no problems because i can clean it by shaking it up and brushing it.

I think a good mouse is a better option when you consider performance/cost ratio. During my keyboard’s life span I have had to buy three cheap mice.

Why not both? Gaming mice are cheap depending on what you’re looking for.

I use a 20 dollar Logitech gaming mouse and it suits my needs just fine. In my experience, mice wear out a lot faster than keyboards do, so it’s harder for me to justify a really nice gaming mouse especially since I don’t like the bigger mice like the Razr Imperator my brother uses.

As for Rubber Dome keys, I used to go through one of those every 2 years or so, they’d begin sticking and being generally unresponsive after a while. Now granted all of those keyboards were like default Dell keyboards so maybe some more quality built ones might last longer.

But based on my gaming habits, and my experience, the mechanical keyboard I’ve used has been a lot more durable, and that’s beside my personal opinion that mechanical switches are more enjoyable to type on as well as use in video games.

I wouldn’t recommend anything from Razer. I’ve owned a couple of their things and always had problems. Weird problems. ā€œOh look my mouse wont go up and right at the same timeā€ in the middle of a ladder game. Would have to power off/on it like it was a router and this would happen at least once every 20-30 minutes. Their keyboards have been known to have weird bugs as well.

I have CM Storm… the reason, it was available around and CM Storm Polt, even though I was not fan of Polt. But as terran I trusted him completely to have this one/

1 - the rubbers would be more durable for pressing keys, for me sometimes dark surroundings is better then I’d need 2 - the lights on the keys.

On their peripherals maybe, but their laptops are top notch. Every single tech reviewer praise them for the most part.

Honestly I would get the one that feels most comfortable playing. The keyboard will not help you get wins. If you are the type of person likes the clicking more of your keyboard go with the mechanical. Some think mechanical uses too much force to push the buttons, go with the rubber.

You can’t play without mechanical keybord on high level, basic suck to hard. Red switches are one of fastest, but lack of feedback.

So if you wanna know u pressed something, which is imporant for rts, you can blue, which are slower but had feedback, or maybe you prefer speed so you can play faster and have it in mind what you press. Dragon used blue, keyboard calls leopold kcr or somethingBlack are old and hard to press, which is good for rts to not press by accident, but it may be to slow.

There are already tons of switches and a lot of information on google. Best thing you can do , buy more keyboards and test it out and than return these you don’t like. Mechanical aren’t even expensive today, for 100$ you can get good keyboard.
Importantly don’t trust everything you read in reviews ask on mechanical keyboard forums.

I can’t say too much about their laptops but I heard they’re expensive for what they are. I think their mice are awesome but their keyboards are definitely lacking.

You’d have to get them online. If you want to spend less check out the magic force 82 or coolermaster masterkeys

Fair warning. Cherry Blue Mechanical switches are loud and annoying af imo.

Of the ones I’ve used, Cherry Reds are my favorite.

I second this. These keyboards seems expensive because they come with high quality PBT keycaps (some even with double-shot keycaps). Unlike the ABS keycaps that comes with cheap ā€œgamingā€ mechanical keyboards, PBT doesn’t get oily and dirty easily so they can stay in that pristine look forever.
