... On behalf of the workers ... sir ...
I wish you a happy birthday ...
You can’t build a sistine chapel using an outhouse as a foundation, old comrade. Better to level everything and begin again from scratch.
Give us SC3 with improved unit pathing so skills and spells doesn’t break the game, than we can see large wide fights in wide open maps like BW was.
But Idk if they gonna make it now, it’s Warcraft time, reforged is just a beginning, only after Warcraft 4 than they will think about Starcraft 3.
It looked to me like they actually might be making it. What was said sounded more like a teasing “just wait and see”. The WoW team especially has shown that Blizzard has the best poker face staff in recorded history.
It’s not certain in either direction, I don’t think we can conclude anything either way as to whether nothing is in development or not.
The RTS genre doesn’t sell as much nowadays, so i doubt it’s a priority for Blizzard. Younger generation prefers autochess and battle royale, or games with fast gratification.
It’s hard to put lootboxes and gambling/addictive mechanics to an RTS on PC.
Plus they already have Warcraft 3 remastered for a quick cash to sell to nostalgic fans.
I wouldn’t expect anything new about Starcraft 3 or a new RTS for at least 3-5 more years.
If we could whine hard enough to make blizz nerf zerg, we can meme sc3 into reality
I have always been campaign fan of SC world. A lot of RTS veterans like myself, who are approaching 40’s, would purchase the gm
How to fix mid life crisis if not through the best game ever?
Do you remember what happen to Diablo after Diablo III: Reaper of Souls? After Reaper of Souls being received positively, they thought “well may be we will get to do another expansion or Diablo 4.”
Just to be announced that most of them are no longer needed and some of them will be transferred to Diablo Immortal development plan.
Same thing will happen to SC
Devs can express they want to make SC 3 for all they want but the company hold the fund and authority to allow it to happen.
Knowing Acti-blizz, they will follow the footstep of many before them and complete the transition to a Mobile game company for the love of profit.
This game is nearing 10 years old. It’s the perfect time to start working on SC3 and really improving on what made Starcraft good in the first place, as well as fixing the problems that the game had.
Honestly, I’d love to see SC3. SC2 is easily my favourite game, bar none.
The difference is that StarCraft has not one, but two competitive scenes, both of which get a surprising amount of viewers and players for a game that’s nearly 10 years old, not to mention the fact that it’s kind of a niche scene too - of which they are the leaders in. Both of which have independent sponsors that help keep it running. Blizzard also helps fund the scenes as well.
They’re already releasing an updated Warcraft 3 because of how many people loved and played the game too, so it’s clear enough that they are watching the RTS scene.
Im all for it!
I would buy it as I did with all Blizzard games.
If Blizzard were ever to do StarCraft III, at least now they know they aren’t in need of prophecy cliches or love story tropes, as it already got it out of the way and the side material is helping establish scenario por potentialities. The Evolution novel and Shadow Wars comics helped establish there’s a big wound in the Zerg, between Zagara’s pacifist tendencies and Abathur/Niadra whom want the Swarm to keep acting as it was back in the ‘glory days’ (P.S., a curious depiction of current U.S. politics, BTW). The Scavengers/Survivors comics are depicting the Umojan Protectorate as the next Terran opposition to the Dominion, getting more pro-active in a militiaristic stance. The Protoss/Dominion treaties didn’t go so well and there’s the ever fraction amongst the Protoss, especially Daelaam and Taldarim, and even some resentment between Khalai and Nerazim. All in all, something could be done in these regards.
But there’s only one acceptable big bad for the next StarCraft, and it HAS to be the UED, and there should be at least a campaign dedicated to them, and have them included as a multiplayer race of their own. This is the fresh shot in the arm StarCraft needs, as the ‘three races only’ rule can’t apply anymore, and even Mental Omega, the mod for Red Alert 2, throws all contrary evidence in the water, as they’ve managed to put in a fourth faction, in a game meant for three. And it’s a mod of all things.
On the lore side, too, must come the comparison that while Arcturus Mengsk’s Dominion was despicable at times, the UED are virtually sugar-coated fascists, and the differences should help contrast the ‘lesser of evils scenario’ Brood War helped establish.
You seem to misunderstand. The SC2 game engine is fine for making a new RTS.
They can reuse the engine and start with the standard units again (Marines, Zerglings, Hydralisks, Siege Tanks, Zealots, a Dragoon clone, Observers, Overlords, structures, HT, Ghosts, etc) then build whatever new units the expansion will have from scratch.
They do not have to keep the SC2 specific units, stats, or mechanics.
Now that I’m thinking, I don’t want starcraft 3 because I would have to buy a new and expensive hardware
Not if they kept the same engine.
Yeah if they reused the same engine things would go a lot quicker.
My only complaint is that units tend to group up too much.
I sincerely hope they don’t use the same engine if they decide to make another entry in the series. This engine isn’t optimized at all for modern hardware and wouldn’t perform well with up to date graphics. SC3 needs to be able to support more than 2 cores, Dx12+, etc.
Honestly, Blizzard actually needs to stop recycling its old games again and again, and start to produce something new, else it will slowly dies.
You mean like…gasp, Overwatch?
They can probably change that. My point is that they don’t need a new engine from scratch. They can clone the one they already have and make whatever changes they want to it.
I don’t think they need an entirely new engine. But they do need to support more than 1 core and revise the UI a fair bit so they don;t run into crap like taking years to implement the cosmetic micro transactions people were ASKING for.
I think SC3 would probably sell well but they have to figure out a way to make it easier to learn for new players…and also, they need to tell kespa to eat a greasy one when they come knocking. Kespa almost ruined sc2 with the help of David Kim…
