I know this the tenth topic, this month, that asks the same question. But since I failed to find one, I just went ahead and made this one. Are there any news on the next StarCraft game? Starcraft III or otherwise.
Saw 1 article in eternity.
Nothing good so far, and the quality is very questionable if it even happens.
Don’t think there will be any until Activision figures out how to loot box the entire thing. If they can’t find a way to monetise it long term, then it isn’t worth the investment. I won’t be surprised if they consider some kind of SC-mobile venture, and have nothing regarding SC3 even in the planning stage.
Being worked on now.
Will be announced at blizzconline
I’d love SC3, but I sure wish they’d finish Warcraft III: Reforged first. Wishful thinking, I know.
It is funny how Blizzard messed up Reforged, the famous WC, but were ok with SC:R.
Starcraft remastered was $15 USD not $30 USD and didn’t take away features in the original game . Warcraft 3 Reforged took away ladders, profiles, clans, and the very dear to my heart custom campaigns.
Starcraft remastered did was some bugs at first as did Warcraft 3 reforged but SCR wasn’t robbed of any key features.
It’s just ridicilous.
SC:R got more love than Reforged.
They never put in a team ladder for SC:R, even though they had promised multiple times that they would do so. It really killed it.
That’s funny from what I remember, SC:R was perfect since the day it was released, Blizzard standard, meaning no bugs at all, everything in it’s place, everything was there except the ladder, though I personally don’t really care about the ladder.
Wc3:R was their worst product ever, and one of the worst games ever considering the standard, so I won’t comment it.
If Blizzard planned to make SC3, most of people who worked on SC2 probably wouldn’t left the company. So possibility of SC3 is extremely low.
A lot of those people were co op guys. Might as well go to heroes of the storm. They will still make SC3.
Imagine SC3 as coop game.
Have you guys been living under a rock? It’s not going to happen…
Yes it is. The only guys that really left were co-op guys. Those aren’t real RTS guys.
SC2’s biggest problem was it didn’t have a cooperative mode (in the style of the current one) from the very beginning. Laddering is really brutal, and combined with the fact that you’re completely alone in 1v1 is very daunting. SC2’s current coop allows for a comfy game for casual players while still having room for players who want a challenge. It would also be pretty easy to extend coop to be competitive as well (eg. speedrunning ladder, most cost-effective ladder, or whatever).
1vs1 is too brutal. Especially when you have so many try harding hardos like those terran players in Maegis. Do drop cancer all game and keep worker killing, just like David Kim wants you to.
The game isn’t even about engaging. It’s about backstabbing each other and seeing how many workers you can massacre. Much better off playing teams. It’s funner, you can do more builds, it’s not as lonely and it’s not as cutthroat as in 1 mistake and games over.
don’t like team games, too many toxic players with big egos who don’t actually know what they’re doing. if you ever want to see what a sore winner looks like, you need to look no further than 3v3 or 4v4. somehow the salty bm players are the ones who are ahead. it’s so weird.
i hear league of legends is even more toxic, and that’s a 5v5 game.
It is, way more. Teams are still funner. You just have to grind your way up and you will start getting better teamates. Co-op isn’t as good. Sure it’s relaxing compared to 1v1. I’ve had GM teamates just taking a break from the ladder.
But Monk made too many MOBA commanders; Tychus, Zeratul and so on. It’s known he’s a heroes of the storm player. It’s a shame he turned co-op into a moba game, added no new maps in 4 years, then left.
