The editor works well enough - but there are so many issues that could be fixed by the community if it were open sourced. Not just bugs, but usability issues causing the same questions to be asked time and time again by newcomers brave enough to attempt map making.
I support this idea since the beginning, however, the developpement staff which could hit it has been totally diluted. Only remains the hope that Microsoft’s take over will give a better leadership and actually hire devs for the editor, hence to stop the process of losing staff for income.
I think it could actually make sense.
After all, for SC1, a topic about SCMDraft got pinned, so there’s recognition and approval in user-made tools historically.
