Almost at Alarak P3

Is there anything I should prepare for? Like, different build order, unit composition, etc…

There might be more expert players than me but what I do differently in P3 is:
(This also assumes that you want a ground army with your Death Fleet)

  • Only tech up to Cyber core and get Warp Gate and Havoc Stealth before getting a Mothership
  • Don’t bother getting slayers, get at least 16 destroyers.
  • After getting your death fleet my next go to would be Ascendants (at least 2) > Wrath Walkers (at least 4). Other units are optional and up to the enemy comp.

Fear the Vipers and the Ravens.

Rush the mothership, basically it’s another hero unit. You don’t even have to go with destroyers depending on the map and enemy.

imo ascendant/supplicant remains the strongest core. for late game you can add ww or destroyer

Prepare for COMMENCING BLOODSHED

Destroyers are… not a great unit, because their beam jump is unaffected by your weapon upgrades BUT is affected by enemy armor.
Also any kind of splash AOE will annihilate them, almost like a flock of mutalisk.

On the other hand the Mothership should be rushed out and it will destroy everything up to and often including the mid game.
P3 is a complete upgrade over P0, and by far the easiest way to play alarak.

If you do your early game macro right, you should be able to get your mother ship out before Alarak spawns. Aim for this. The early game power this provides allows you to wipe out enemy bases before the enemies get their scary upgrades. It also gives you plenty of time to make whatever army comp you want.

Focus on fast expanding at the start of the game if possible because you need the gas to get out the mothership ASAP after that you have a massive power boost compared to the other prestiges though you still want to tech up to Warp Gates and get supplicants out so Alarak doesn’t eat your Destroyers if you choose to have him fight (however you can skip this step if you have a partner that can heal them).

And believe it or not but Destroyers out-damage and outclass Void Rays and only the latter can win if fully charged and in a 1v1 but both share the same weakness against mass AoE so you should be prepared to alter your composition and not get a lot of them if Vipers and Ravens are out.

Step 1: Overcharge or Mothership expand (many contested expansions can be expanded with an overcharged pylon, Nexus or assimilator).
Step 2: Identify composition: Mass Destroyer, Mass Ascendant, Ascendant → Destroyer, Destroyer → Ascendant, mass Slayer (only vs Double Edge), Vanguards (trash unit but good vs some unique enemies especially if stacked up and armoured), Wrathwalkers (only really needed as building DPS).
Step 3: Build supplicants to tank (get +25 shield upgrade if there are BCs on the map).
Step 4: Get Weapon and Shield upgrades (NEVER armour upgrades).
Step 5: Profit.

Best comp for me is ~16 Ascendants and then mass Destroyers. Reason to get Ascendants before Destroyers is to get started on Ascendant upgrades. If you can put off building the Mothership until Ascendant tech is on the way its good depending on the map. Get used to trying to Mind Blast Ravens and Vipers to stop them destroying your Destroyers.

First and foremost, you don’t get to enjoy this prestige until you’ve unlocked your lv10 talent, which is literally when you get to use the Mothership. Until then, consider using his P0 or P1, or his P2 when you’ve gotten to lv5 (when Empower Me unlocks).

Afterwards, if you want to rush for “MoSh”… gas will be the bottleneck, so get that up and running sooner than later.

Definitely still use Alarak and Supplicants.

MoSh has no more cd (cool down, lowercase), so divert ALL mastery pts from that, into Alarak’s Emp Me duration one.

Speak of which… what is the tech requirement for Red Mom?

So the incentive I get so far is that Destroyers are not recommended to mass, so just play Alarak as Alarak is… just with two new units.

There’s none. You just need to save up 400/400 to buy momma ship. That’s why others in the thread suggested to get it ASAP coz you can get it as long as you have the resources for it.

I find P3 allows me to go WW more easily. The tough MS protects against anti air (because the WW are farther back)

Alarak does have some issue against early air (on an aggressive map where you need to move forward).

I don’t think I’ve encountered that personally. Which prestige/map/comp combo do you mean?

It’s likely my naivety. In P1 I tend to ignore making Slayer because I want to save gas for WW. XD

Slayer are trash and should never be built unless you’re up against something like Black Death or Double Edge.

Alarak, SO, WWs, Mothership, Destroyers and Ascendants all wreck air. If you struggle it is a micro/macro problem .

I think you miss the word “early” in my original post. On aggressive maps where you need to move away from the base (again, EARLY) there tends to be a little challenge against air. I’ve tried to bring four Slayers before, but as you said they’re kinda lackluster. Swann or any Terran teammates is a godsend on those maps.

Again, more details are needed. I think you’re forgetting something important about Alarak, good use of SO. There’s at least two ways to do this on the go

  1. Overcharge a War Prism. Should be your first unit from robo in many cases.
  2. Build a pylon to overcharge. They don’t even need to complete.

So, for example on MO, a pylon or prism in the area of the first and second set of bots easily handles those early weak air waves.

For Chain of Ascension, guess what, it’s the same again - pylon/prism by Ji’nara.
